2025 Free Agency-

Fools gold to assume Harris can stay healthy. Nice bonus if it happens…but I wouldn’t plan for it.
Agreed, but if we’re allocating resources I don’t see a huge difference between Kyzir and To’o To’o. Especially considering Henry’s progress year 1 to year 2. Rookie contract LB that’s improving is the asset I want. And if i’m bringing someone in they have to be a dynamic playmaker (expensive) or a draft pick that hopefully develops into said dynamic playmaker.

I don't see that in this draft class unless it's Jihaad Campbell
If Campbell falls to the top of the 2nd rd, would you trade up for him, knowing you would miss out on the IOL like Milum/MBow/Ratlege etc....

I probably would because I consider Campbell to be a top 15 guy. Reminds me of a young Devin White. He can cover and would make this defense elite. He can rush the passer too. A true chess piece for Ryans to play with.

More than likely, but would really depend on 1st pick and who was available. Texans may consider having to double up as they did in 2023 1st

White plays a very similar role to Azeez here. His contribution is not mainly seen on the stat sheet, it’s getting the defense set up right pre-snap and putting guys in the best position to succeed. Sure tackler but issues in coverage.

I wonder in the case of both Kyzir and Azeez if the issues in coverage are mainly because so much is asked of them pre-snap that if anyone is out of position it’s them.

We kind of saw how this LB corps would look with two of this type of player on the field with Azeez and To’o To’o. Certainly serviceable but lacking in dynamic playmaking.

White is too good to be a backup which would mean healthy Harris takes a back seat. And I want healthy Harris on the field because he’s the only LB with all pro upside on this roster.
They're poor in coverage because they're nosey and want to tackle people. They miss their landmarks consistently in zone and neither are fast. Copy and paste for Pitre also. The Texans have never had good coverage lbs. Anyone remember how Gates did Texans lbs in his 1st start?

This is why Kiser would be a great pick at 3-89.

He's a smart player who's very good in coverage. Campbell is the only other LB that I like better than Kiser.

Sorry, but I need to say this: If we got the OC situation right, we are going to be really, f***in' good!
And it's not like they need to be a top offense. If they get to a bottom-of-the-middle tier of offenses in the league, with a little luck, the sky is the limit with this team. Clearly, the offense isn't going to be as flashy as we would like it. I think a blueprint would be a BAL/NE/SF approach to football, being: don't turn the ball over, move the chains and rely on your defense to make plays and stops.

If you squint your eyes a little bit, you can see this as a possibility. You can also see the line being awful again, not being able to run the ball, and injuries kneecapping our offense in the second half of the season because...it seems to happen to this team often.

Who knows?

The NFL is different every year & while DeMeco’s defense appears to be coming into its own there’s a lot of “could have gone wrong” last year that we were just lucky it didn’t.

Build the best you can & deal with the unknown as it comes. It’s all you can do.

Love your optimism but as I see it, Nico should be the same. Christian should be equal to or slightly better than Tank Dell . Metchie and Hutchinson will be about the same if we are lucky. Who else is there? Mixon should be the same and our backups will be approximately the same. Our left Tackle play should be slightly less but the rest of the line should be at minimum slightly better. Tight end is the question for me and I hope that Nick II can put Schultz back into 2023 pre-extension mode.

Good enough to win the division a third time? Probably but no solid proof of anything more. I will stop raining on the parade now.

I am squinting, really squinting! And all I see is your last sentence.

I think it is clear that Caserio is fully committed to fixing the Offensive Line. Therefore, I expect continued, relentless efforts in September and October from Caserio if it isn't coming together. This is part of why I feel so confident about the line: Caserio's determination, commitment, and exposure (it is all on him if the OLine tanks).

I can see Caserio trading up for Banks using 2026 draft picks and drafting Taylor/Kyle Williams in rds 2-3. This would help the offense out tremendously.

I like Kiser despite the physical limitations. I like Campbell too if you can continue to improve his read and react. The Texans are always going to have an issue defensively with 0 and Pitre on the field at the same time. Neither can really run and both are looking in the backfield too much. Passing downs, neither should be on the field.

This is the problem that Caserio has created for himself.

After the moves he made to get CJ and WAjr, we're now expecting him to be able to work that sort of magic over and over again.

Expectations are high.

Unrealistic expectations in some cases.

I'm thinking after seeing his off-season signings, ol may not be a rd 1 priority. Adding speed and offensive weapons may be the way he goes

Thought I'd kick start this thread for post-draft FA. After most of the guards were taken before we picked, I'm really hoping there's a diamond in the rough vet that doesn't make a team's roster. Detroit is probably my highest hope as they took 2 Gs into a pretty decent OL and they're also 4 deep at center. (They run a McVay offense, so perhaps that hypothetical player would fit well into Caley's system.)

Something tells me that Caserio is not done adding talent...

What about we invite some UFL offensive linemen onto our training camp. They wouldn't automatically be given a job but with competition anything is possible. I realize the NFL for the most part calls up UFL players as camp bodies with no real chance of making a team but if they were smart they would invite some players of need to their training camp and see if they could make our team and at least add some depth. Maybe there is a star in the making.

Texans are listing him as a Center

Welcome Jake Andrews, who's played for Popovich before.
