No Longer Arlington: Escaped From Jerry's World
Staff member
Posting this on the morning of "legal" tampering,,,Some off-season things have already happened and I am sure there will cross-posting of info

I will start with Aaron Wilson going through every Texans free-agent and what he knows

There is an auto-generated transcript but not sure how helpful it actually is

My guy is back! That takes a bit of pressure off the DT position, but I still see one drafted in the top 3 rounds…
I'm somewhat surprised they skipped over Mario Edwards Jr. and Foley Fatukasi, to settle on Hinish and Rankins when resigning DTs. Maybe their salaries got boosted by their 2024 success.

Yeah, but for 2 million and a guy who can get open in short spaces; I'm good with the risk. ACLs have gone from career enders when I was a kid to meh type injuries

No issue with it. Just adding details.

I don't expect much from him as a receiver though...but He was an all pro returner in 2021and I think he has a chance to help quite a bit as a return man here.

Fair, just happy to have bodies in the room that have a history of some production in the NFL.

Sorry to Metchie and Hutch, but I think we've seen enough to know that they are not the answer

The current group of FA signings are bridge players for the new influx of talent coming through the draft.

They’re solid reasonably priced bridge players. I also view these signings as Caserio possibly tipping his hand as to what he’ll be pursuing in the draft.

An underrated need, but one I've mentioned a couple of times is an upgrade at PR. Dell was good at it (pre-injury) but I was always a nervous nelly with him. Nobody else moves the needle. Woods was steady and sure-handed but had no wiggle at all. Both Dell and Woods are non-factors in 25. He could also be the second guy at KR along with Pierce (both lining up to receive), who has shown to be very good at KR.

He has a very good chance of being the last WR on the roster. He is the primary KR/PR and can fill in at the slot if Kirk has any issues or if he needs a breather.

BTW, Braxton Berrios signed a two-year 12 million dollar contract with the Jets not that long ago.

It just got harder for X and Metchie to make the roster.

LOVE the Barnett signing. In the current environment, 5 Mil is a bargain for a red chip player that can provide starter level production. Keeps the three amigos back in action.

I was crossing my fingers on him. Great job Tricky Nicky on this guy.
As Nick's tenure has gone on, I am more an more impressed with him as a GM. His choices are not always the right ones (see drafting Green at 15), but he wins a lot more than he loses.

Resigning Barnett at this price is genius.

What a far cry from the idiot-icy that went on when Charlie Casserly's was the GM .

Oh my now the blood is coursing thru my veins. Reading the scuttlebutt, the Falcons and Broncos are also in hot pursuit.

Falcons are also in cap hell and I don’t see the connection. Not ruling them out, but I think they are in 4th place behind SF resigning him.

I think it’s Broncos or Texans. Broncos have much more space under the cap. Up and coming contender with a good D already, and a battle tested HC.

Or…a (now) contender in the Texans with his former DC, and another running mate in Azeez.

I think the Texans have the inside track, but Denver also makes sense for him.

Harris is on a prove it year, that’s all. He’s a backup in this scenario and adds depth until he stubs his toe. Greenlaw also has a prove it year. He’s got his own troubles staying healthy, but is a proven high level LB over multiple seasons. He’s far superior to Harris if both are healthy, and would help take this D to another level. I’d be totally pumped if this comes to fruition.

0 is terrible in coverage. Pitre is also. This tells me they see it

Don't agree. They've been burned but it's when they're asking a safety to man cover a receiver. When you see that happen it's because they're relying on the d-line getting to the QB sooner.

Both Pitre and Murray are meh man cover players but are actually above average at it when considering safeties as a whole.

Good luck finding the safety who does that reliably because they're called the best corners in the league and don't play safety.
