They've already got a stud RB, they just need a really good 3rd down RB. I agree they need a stud WR, unfortunately that WR isn't in this draft. (Should've drafted BTJ if you wanted a stud WR) Fix the OL and add guys like the Rams FA WR's, Tylan Wallace/Elijah Moore/Bo Melton. They would all be upgrades. (Let's add 2 of them) Gotta get the OL stuff straightened out though and the draft is a great place to start, as well as FA.

I'm a fan of his, but I'm thinking he goes in the 2nd between 1-26 and 2-48. My deal is they've got a chance to add a really talented OG at 1-26 and because of the depth of this DT class, I would really love to see how good a DL with a stud like Alexander/Collins etc... in the middle being flanked by WA/Hunter. That could be difference making kind of stuff.

Give me this and I'll find a WR in FA and/or draft a guy like Tez Johnson in the 3rd even if I had to trade up a little bit. Rumor has it they're considering looking at bringing in Hollywood Brown on the cheap.

Yep, there it is .... I started out wanting either one of the Texas Wide Receivers .... No, actually I wanted #44, the Penn St TE .... but decided we didn't have the luxury. Oh, I forgot about Luther Burden . I don't know who will be there on draft day .... maybe one of the UT boys will find himself at the Combine .... I think CJ needs to feel the weight of the club around his neck .... he plays better. Still want offensive linemen.

Depends if Diggs returns..then I think not. If Caserio puts the $ together [gtd] Stefon could return pleasing Stroud and taking slot off draft board.

Diggs returning shouldn't take a slot off of the draft board, unless they're willing to gamble on that they wont where they've ended up the last 2 ys.

The WR corps needs to be completely rebuilt, minus Nico, this includes the TE room.

Bring in a nice piece ex FA and one from the draft 1st or 2nd round and I think you're good in the WR corp.
I think you do something similar on the D - Bring in a nice DL ex FA and draft a decent Safety and this team should be solid!
After that, it comes down to the coaching.

Depends on who they bring in.

I wouldn't bring Diggs back, but since CJ wants Diggs back Diggs will be back. Kinda like CJ wanted Schultz back and Schultz is back. SMH

I'm not particularly high on Diggs either. He is a good possession receiver much like Nuk, but he doesn't have the sizzle of some of the other FAs.
Buddies don't automatically meet team needs just because you like them.
I'm thinking we may need to use one of the top four picks on a TE. What think ye?

The receiver room needs to be upgraded at both the WR/TE positions.

What happens when WR's go down like they have the last 2 years? The Texans will be right back when they've been the last 2 years. They should do a full rebuild. I fully expect them to put a bandaid on things like they've done in the past. Doing the same things over and over again is the definition of insanity.

I was thinking Nico plus another #1 receiver plus a new young lion from the draft should be enough. We will still have XH, JMIII and RW. TD may not be available next season so a young lion from the draft will be a plus.
Having a third top receiver will likely be expensive.

That's what they thought they had last year with Collins/Dell/Diggs.

You can add guys like Elijah Moore/Tylan Wallace or both of the Rams WR's on the cheap in FA. They're young vets so the learning curve shouldn't be great. Then add a developmental guy like Arian Smith or Jaylin Noel in the 4-5th rd. Talented guys that can separate, have speed to stretch defenses and contrast Metchie/Hutch skillsets.

Why not give our franchise quarterback as many young lion targets as we can? The defense is doing quite well and we can address that with day three picks if necessary to fill in the backups which I don't think we really need. Extend Mario Edwards and Derek Bennett.

We can't count on Dell next season - he has multiple surgeries ahead of him.
So your idea is a good one - as long as we have another good one opposite Nico!

Yeah I'm thinking the D can be fixed with another Safety and another big guy up front and value for those positions cand be found early on day 3.
Meanwhile, use your top two or three picks on the offense - WR, TE and OL.
Of course you still have the opportunity to bring in at least one splash signing on both sides of the ball in FA.
That would be my preference anyway.
 
One OL I haven't heard much about is LSU RT Emery Jones. Jones started at RT for 3 years in Baton Rouge and won't turn 21 until 3 days after the combine. Jones has the tools, fluid movements at 6'5" 310 lbs with 11" hands and 35" arms. Probably not a starting OT year one, but could kick inside at RG with his run blocking ability. Likely available with the Texans 2nd round selection.

Most analysts I’ve listened to see him moving inside to guard. I have other guys I’d prefer to draft than Jones at OG, but he could be an option.
 
An O-Lineman flying under the radar is Kansas RT Logan Brown. Brown is an interesting story as he was a 5 star recruit from the 2019 class (Stroud and Anderson were from the 2020 class). Brown chose Wisconsin over many other Big 10 schools and redshirted his 1st year. Brown played sporadically over the next 2 years, buy won a starting job year 4 in Madison. Midseason, Brown was removed from the team as a result from a fight during practice. Brown transferred in 2023 to Kansas but saw few game snaps. Brown won the starting RT job in his 6th college season earning 2nd team All Big 12 honors.

From my observation, Brown had a good Senior Bowl, with some issues with outside speed on the pass rush. Brown may be a candidate to kick down to OG early in his career. He has the size (6'6" 310 lbs, 35" arms) and is an explosive athlete. The NFL knows about Brown having been selected for the Senior Bowl and the combine. I expect Brown to go earlier on Day 3 (4th or 5th round) than later (6th or 7th) despite his age and lack of expirience.

Not a fan of Jones at RT, I'm looking for a day one starter at both LG/RG.

This is a guy I would look at bringing in, in the 5th rd.

Dude has talent and a big upside.

Great job of coming up with 2 outstanding prospects outside of rd 3.
 
HBCU Combine Standouts

The Athletic put out an article that listed HBCU combine standouts. These are 2 guys that could be late round options for the Texans.

Kendall Bohler, CB, Florida A&M​

Despite his less-than-desirable height for the position, Bohler (5-11, 193) ran a 4.53 with a 1.54 10-split and a 38-inch vertical (10-5 broad jump), showing off plenty of explosion to go with his solid length (75-inch wingspan).

A competitive, well-rounded athlete who isn’t afraid to hit, Bohler forced 13 incomplete passes in 2023. A two-time All-SWAC performer, Bohler was also on Bruce Feldman’s “Freaks List” back in August. He had a top squat of 560 pounds entering the season.

Fred Stokes Jr., Edge, Prairie View A&M​

A Central Michigan transfer, the 6-5, 255-pound Stokes measured in with 33-inch arms (80.5-inch wingspan) and ran a 4.76 40 with a 1.60 10-yard split — that split number borders on elite for an edge. He added a 33 1/2-inch vertical and broad jump of 10 foot, 4 inches.

Stokes had 3 1/2 sacks and 13 tackles for loss this past season at Prairie View A&M, his only year as a full-time contributor in college. He spent time with Central Michigan before transferring to Prairie View.

Man Taylor is looking better and better.

Hawes is the guy if you're looking for strictly a blocking TE with good hands to be an outlet. I think he goes late 4th/early 5th. Dippree and Preisthorn should be great values in the 5th.

The TE I like most in terms of value is Mitchell Evans, Evans is a big dude with decent speed, is an avg blocker with the frame and work ethic to improve. His best football is ahead of him. He was a former high school QB that transitioned to TE. Same as Warren, he understands how to find the holes in zones and has enough speed to get down the hashes. I've got him going in rd 4. Tyler Warren light. Reminds me a lot of a bigger OD.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what the TE's I listed run at the combine, a long with Arroyo.

Schultz was given a 75 blocking grade by PFF entering the draft. What happened, Dalton?

Trying to figure how Fannin received such a high blocking grade when he was flexed out for the majority of his snaps. I would say the same held true when Andrews was coming out of Oklahoma. Need more context from PFF besides slapping together a chart.

Coming into the League, Schultz was pretty well universally considered a good inline blocker. He was never considered a good pass blocker. Recently, his run blocking has regressed to his pass blocking prowess.
 
Man, I’m tired of hearing players selected to participate at the Combine announcing they will not be doing workouts. NFL needs to tell these players to stay home and invite replacement players who’d like to showcase their talents in front of NFL scouts.

This could also mean more trades starting in the middle of Round 1 through Round 2 due to a lack of leaguewide consensus regarding the top players in the draft's strong middle class. The reverse seems unlikely, as there could be fewer trades into the top 10 because of the lack of blue-chippers and elite quarterback talent.


The narrative change for this draft class was supported by the Philadelphia Eagles' dominant Super Bowl LIX win over the Kansas City Chiefs. The position groups that fueled Philly's win -- defensive end, defensive tackle and versatile defensive backs -- are the strengths of the 2025 draft.

not that I don’t like ebuka but I hope we don’t draft him at 25. There are too many players that IMO would have a bigger impact than him. Ive watched a bunch of restrepo and just not that impressed with him. I’d rather have the slot guy from Iowa state, Noel.

I agree with all of that except Tex Johnson. Dude is like 160 pounds. Already been down that road. No thanks.

No offense, I just don't see how you can watch Restrepo and not be impressed. 30 of 41 targets [77.5%] over the middle 0-19 yards. Pure slot with last two seasons over 1,000.
 
A projected late round DT that I've been keeping an eye on is Thor Griffith out of Louisville. He wasn't invited to the combine, but PFF has him listed as one of the top DT's in pass rush win rate & run stop rate. Only Mason Graham is better. Of course, he played 3 years at Harvard (where he dominated the competition) & his senior year at Louisville. I'm assuming his stats from Harvard inflated his PFF rating, but at 6'2" & 320 lbs he's a virtual wall against the run & has a lightning quick first step for a man his size. He's a guy I hope the Texans take a long look at. I've seen projections of him going as late as the 7th round, but I doubt he lasts that long. He's listed in the top right corner of this screenshot just below Graham.

Yeah, I like Restrepo alot. His yac and he's a beast on those jerk routes. I just don't know where to draft him honestly. 2nd rd maybe? I don't think he's lasting to the 3rd. I actually think Metchie would be a pretty good slot guy, never thought of him as anything other.
