2023 TEXANS DRAFT DISCUSSION

It is a flat-out insult to the fanbase to try and run it back with Mills under center. The team with him isn't just bad, but unwatchable. I doubt Case is going to light it up either.

If they aren't going first round QB, they need to address the QB situation in a trade, with at least a band-aid. A later round developmental project ain't it.

100%. Perfectly said. I’ve been saying for weeks, this team can’t sell Mills or some low round flyer to this fanbase. You’ve got all this mojo with Ryans coming in with tons fanfare, lots of good will etc. if they roll it back with Mills, a large part of that goodwill will be squandered and the fans will be screaming for Nicks head on a petard.

This isn't the MLB, you don't get a decade. This is year two of the rebuild, and it is reasonable to be competitive after three years.
Tell that to the Jets, the Dolphins, & the Lions

new HC, first time OC, first time DC & a new QB. It’s a restart on rebuild.

Christian Hackenberg, Sam Darnold, Zach Wilson, Aaron Rodgers. That’s where we’re headed. Probably trade a haul 8 years from now to get Watson back & be thrilled about it.

By this time, in two more nights, we'll know. Heads will explode. Expletives will be deleted. The joyful will do battle with the pissed off. It'll be glorious.
I expect to be somewhere between pissed off and joyful. Kind of like going to the fridge for the Neapolitan ice cream and finding out all that's left is strawberry.

As long as we do not give watson a no trade clause.

Man I have done that! Why in the world did the wife buy neapolitan when she could have just bought a carton of vanilla and a carton of chocolate?

Name a good nfl qb from Cal before Rodgers..

Name a good nfl qb from Texas Tech before Mahomes..

Name a good nfl qb from Tennessee before Manning..

Name a good nfl qb from Pitt before Marino..

And I don't wanna wait, it's gonna take too long..

I interpreted the post to say that OSU is as Blue Chip as they come and regularly compete for national championships. But, as consistently good as they are about winning and putting top talent into the NFL, they are not known for producing good QB's.

These other schools you listed aren't in the same discussion as THE Ohio State University.

All this talk about Levi’s is just to see if we can get Indy to bite. Trading down to number 4 is the ideal situation.
I don't know. I wouldn't draft any of these guys in the top 10. Looking backwards I can see how people like Stroud & Young.

But Looking forward I can see someone thinking Levis will have the better career. I kinda think he will.

Are you talking about the spat on his left foot?

I believe his foot injury was on the right foot.

On the left that's just spat to try to prevent ankle injuries.
mistakenly

I'm sorry. You're absolutely correct. That is a spat brace that can used post ankle injury or as a support prophylaxis to injury. That similar type of bandage is also used in acute cases of midfoot sprains/fractures. I was sent 2 pics and mistakenly posted the wrong one. The other pic which I have unfortunately already deleted and can't retrieve was taken later, after the right foot that is shown in the 1st pic without shoe or sock. The subsequent bandaging was almost identical to the wrap over the shoe of the left foot, but without the shoe. You can already appreciate the dorsal foot swelling in the pic I did post.........this is consistent with a Lisfranc injury, not a Jones fracture. I thank you for pointing out the discrepancy.

I think everyone thinks the Texans should do the best job they can evaluating prospects. I'll just say that QB is the most important position. By far. At some point, you have to take a shot at one and coach them up. They're 21-25 years old (this year). They aren't finished products. If they think they can coach Anthony Richardson up, OK. If they can take a couple of later round picks and have them compete, alright. But they can't just sit on their hands and hope Mr. Perfect shows up at their draft slot. That's just not going to happen.
True, which is why in a OK QB class you should take a later rd QB to compete with Mills (I like Bennett/Haener) and continue to build the team out. If you get lucky you find Purdy. If you dont then draft a QB next yr, when you're only projected to win 5.5 games, you will certainly be in the running for a top 5 pick.

Consider giving yourself 5 points and banning yourself until after the Draft! :D

And that is the quandary for all teams on the hunt for that franchise QB - you (most) have only one high pick to take a shot at a guy you want and there happens to be another guy at another position who is a can't miss candidate right there. :smiliepalm:

When you have two 1sts this yr and two 1sts next yr, then you need to be very choosy on which year you draft your QB in. There's a two yr window to pick a QB. If you like this yrs class then you should pick one. If you dont you should wait. I think everybody knows where I stand.

Texans are very fortunate to have two firsts here and again next year.
If Casino has any designs on keeping a high profile, he has to nail this one.
The only thing saving him right now is that three of last year's high picks may yet return and prove he was right in selecting them.

If the Texans trade back from 2…..then I want it to be with the Raiders.

I want their RD1-007, DE- Maxx Crosby, and their 2024 RD1.

With the 7th pick….no hesitation at all. QB- Hendon Hooker (Tennessee).

QB- Check

Here’s where it could get really exciting. Texans would have (3) RD1 picks in 2024, and answered their QB need in 2023. With a decent finish and a nice QB class in 2024, they could be sellers again while stocking up some serious draft capital for the immediate 2024 draft and 2025.
