Would have to further address OL in FA.
I would be very happy with this draft.
Best OL
2nd Best S, would be the best in most drafts
Impact LB to pair with KGH/Kirksey
Favorite RB in this draft
WR1
I’ve seen him graded anywhere from the bottom of 1 to the 4th round. I consider him a 2-3. I guess drafting him at 37 would be a little high, but there weren’t other players I loved with this mock.I would love this draft. Fixes the OL/Secondary
You must be higher on Thomas than I am.
May be the best mock I've seen... Love it!Flip side, Trade-Up scenario, however unable to receive satisfactory return for #3 overall selection so took Hamilton

The Texans have picks #37 & #68, not #35 & #67.
#17 = 950 points
#37 + #68 + #203 = 800 points
No team will trade down like that and lose points. A 2023 2nd would have to be thrown in, at minimum.

Agree. Then we shouldn't be drafting Neal.
Seems like trade offers galore - I wonder if that's what actually happens on draft day?4 round mock focusing on improving the running game on both sides of the ball... 2 early trades, many passed up
- 10. Ikem Ekwonu OG/T North Carolina State
- 35. Chad Muma LB Wyoming

A little bored, so I did another Mock using the “NFL Mock Draft Database” simulator. Trade backs were executed, Tunsil and Cooks were traded, and Watson is going nowhere until the 2023 NFL Draft. There were teams with high priority needs that I used to try and justify the trades. I’ll actually list the players selected by those teams in their slot to help justify the moves.
Giants Move Up To RD1-03 / Texans Gain: RD1-05 & RD2-37
Giants Select: LT- Evan Neal (Alabama) **Giants needed a LT in the worst way…especially if they are going to stick with Daniel Jones in 2022.**
Falcons Move Up To RD1-05 / Texans Gain: RD1-08 & RD2-43
Falcons Select: DE- George Karlaftis (Purdue) **I figured the Falcons would be in the hunt for QB but not surprised by the Karlaftis pick since they need help on defense as well.**
WFT Move Up To RD1-08 / Texans Gain: RD1-11 & RD2-42
WFT Select: QB- Kenny Pickett (Pittsburgh) **I figured the WFT would wait to see if a QB fail to them. They made the move and selected Pickett to take over as their QB. This trade worked as expected.**
Eagles Move Up To RD1-11 / Texans Gain: RD1-15 & RD1-19
Eagles Select: DE- David Ojabo (Michigan) **I figured the Eagles would like to shore their defense. They did this with the Ojabo pick. To show their direction, the Eagles still had their 16th pick and used it on LB- Devin Lloyd (Utah). This trade also works for both teams.**
LT- Tunsil was traded to the Steelers. They were in dire need of improved LT play. There wouldn’t be a better option available at RD1-20 than Tunsil regardless of who’s playing QB1 in 2022. / Texans Gain: RD1-20, RD3-84, and 2023 RD2.
WR- Cooks was traded to the Broncos. The Broncos need answers at WR b/c Sutton nor Patrick are producing up to their salary. Broncos can clear some room and add a far more productive receiver in Cooks. The Broncos must be hoping Jeudy can hit his stride. The dropping of Sutton or Patrick would make room for Cooks. / Texans Gain: RD3-75 & RD5-143.
RD1-15: OG- Kenyon Green (Texas A&M)
RD1-19: OT- Trevor Penning (Northern Iowa)
RD1-20: CB- Kaiir Elam (Florida)
RD2-36: DB- Daxton Hill (Michigan)
RD2-37: DB- Deion Kendrick (Georgia)
RD2-42: TE- Trey McBride (Colorado State)
RD2-43: RB- Breece Hall (Iowa State)
RD3-68: OG- Andrew Stueber (Michigan)
RD3-75: OG- Cade Mays (Tennessee)
RD3-80: RB- Rachaad White (Arizona St)
RD3-84: OC- Alec Lindstrom (Boston College)
RD4-132: DB- Brad Hawkins (Michigan)
RD5-143: WR- Sonny Gray (SMU)
RD6-182: WR- Samori Toure (Nebraska)
RD6-204: DE- Tyree Johnson (Texas A&M)
RD6-206: DB- Joshua Williams (Fayetteville State)
RD7-241: DE- Big Cat Bryant (UCF)
Crazy? The Vikings had 15 picks in the 2020 NFL Draft. The Browns had 14 picks in the 2016 draft. Texans could be in a very good position to amass the picks needed to set the record b/c of their #3 pick, Tunsil, and Cooks.
Caserio would be all over this. Like your moves and players but you know, it ain’t happening to this extent. First Neal isn’t worth the cost with several elite tackles on the board (Giants seem more like a classic LT candidate for Charles Cross) sit tight #5. Carolina takes Neal #6. Won’t get into trades, we have no idea. Again would love all these moves and your work
Slippery slope your climbing but fun to contemplate![]()
All in fun but open to brainstorming. It wouldn’t be that crazy if Caserio learned how to manipulate a draft like Belichick.
I don't believe we can judge their drafts the same way we judge others.Never been a fan of Belichick drafts
The TEs were drafted in 2020. A year prior to signing Henry and Smith.3rd/91 Devin Asiasi, TE
3rd/101 Dalton Keene, TE
see I don't understand going back to back TE's after they signed the two top free agent TE's in Jonnu Smith and Hunter Henry.
I don't believe we can judge their drafts the same way we judge others.
You draft different when you have Brady. You can focus on things like culture & character more than football.
We can say their drafts weren't good during this period or that period, but they won a lot of games. They won multiple Super Bowls.
Once you move on from Brady you have to construct your team differently. You have to draft differently.
Just like we say Caserio is off base the way he is managing this team because we don't have Belichick, because we don't have Brady. We can't look at those drafts as if they didn't have Brady.
They won a lot of games. Can't do that, even with Brady without constructing your team well.

In the beginning Belichick was assistant head coach for Patriots 1996-1999. Hired as head coach in 2000. Tom Brady was drafted 2000 to back up Drew Bledsoe, drafted #1 overall in 1993. He started with a solid nucleus including Willie McGinist, Ty Law, Teddy Bruschi, Lawyer Milloy, Terry Glenn, Kevin Faulk just to name a few. Other than drafting Brady in the 6th rd, nothing much to say first five rounds, nobody mentions that. Following Draft 2001 they did draft Richard Seymour, with Bookend DE’s in Belichick innovative 3-4 (ahead of his time) the Super Bowls started rolling in.I don't believe we can judge their drafts the same way we judge others.

You don't draft a RT that high. You can get a decent one in the 2nd.
Plus he may not be suited at RT.

Done more simulations than I care to admit. If you use PFF change your settings to difficult, increase positional value compared to needs, use PFF board (not perfect) but grades prospects more fairly than media, and add in some randomness.
In my experience trade offers decrease or get more difficult (less return) and you start to figure out player stacking and teams boards. Would say only four players stand out as five star prospects. Stingley, Kayvon, Aiden and Hamilton. Then comes Tackle class, however you stack it, team fit, highest ceiling, character/work ethic. After which, here come the QB’s, ready or not (Sam Howell, Matt Corral, Malik Willis, Kenny Pickett just to name four) and you realize it’s just not probable Nick Caserio will return much for Watson. These rookie QB’s cost less, both in salary and draft capital with less baggage (just had to throw that dose of reality in).
After which to me, strongest groups are DE/DT, LB and DB’s. By trading down from #3 you lose out on one of the big four but you should gain back two extra quality starters at positions of need. Which I’m just guessing is Caserio style.
Never been a fan of Belichick drafts. Post Caserio they actually hit homeruns on first two picks (Mac Jones/Christian Barmore). They struggle later rounds just like Texans have, last draft w/Caserio - 2020
2nd/37 Kyle Dugger, S
2nd/60 Josh Uche, LB
3rd/87 Anfernee Jennings, LB
3rd/91 Devin Asiasi, TE
3rd/101 Dalton Keene, TE
see I don't understand going back to back TE's after they signed the two top free agent TE's in Jonnu Smith and Hunter Henry.
5th/159 Justin Rohrasser, K
6th/182 Michael Onwenu, G
6th/195 Justin Herron, T
6th/204 Cassh Maluia, LB
7th/230 Dustin Woodard, C
out of those only Dugger is starting SS, the rest 2nd/3rd teamers. I would be disappointed, and record reflects that, 2021 without Caserio marked a comeback.
Guess he is highest PFF graded OL not starting, lolOnwenu made the all rookie team.
What a great tool! Not sure how to set it to difficult but followed the rest of your recommendations... my first attemptDone more simulations than I care to admit. That’s just sick if Kenyon Green slips to 35. I have them taking Faalele 35 which is even starting to look like a stretch. Love Marcus Jones for special teams too.No trades with a local flair

simply amazing how little respect the guard designation brings. I'm not so sure that Green couldn't kick out, he's that athletic. Make one hell of a RT I believe, might even stake my claim on him #17 to Chargers. Would be one hell of a battle but fun to dig in. There was a similar talent in last year's draft Alijah Vera-Tucker, who went #14 overall to the Jets, unfortunately tore his pec early on so basically a red shirt season. Green plays with lower pad level, not as smooth slide but makes it up with powerful core strength and explosive burst. really like Faalele for Texans either with or without Tunsil. Grade, positional value and need spot on late first to early second.I think it unlikely but very possible that Green does slip...
OG going in the first is pretty rare... I couldn't believe when he did

They're simulators. Guard is not a premium position, so that works against the algorithm.Actually, I’ve been a little surprised to see Kenyon Green (A&M) slipping down on simulators.

Over the past 5 drafts, the top Guard has gone on average @ pick #22. I think Ekwonu will be drafted as an OT (though start out at OG), so Green will be the top Guard on the majority of draft boards. I think the Ravens @ #14 would be Green's ceiling, and the Cowboys @ #24 his floor.
Actually, I’ve been a little surprised to see Kenyon Green (A&M) slipping down on simulators. Roughly 6 weeks back Green was within the top 10 picks and now it seems he’s going in the back 10 more often than not. Is this a simulator thing that is knocking him down or are there actual concerns from analyst about where they view him now?
