2020 Texans Talk Texans Only Blind Mock Draft

Gay at linebacker? Are you hoping he takes out his quarterback again as he did in college? That's one way to resolve the Watson conundrum I suppose.. Gay is a tremendous athlete I'm just concerned about what bouncing around between his ears.

I believe on picking talented but troubled guys after rd 3.

I figure you hit on your first 3 picks and take talented but troubled guys in rds 4 thru 7. If you do your homework you can usually hit on one of these guys a yr and have a great athlete on the cheap for 4 yr. sometimes you will hit on 2 of them and that makes a great draft class.

The Texans org has never agreed with my philosophy. Guess who does? The Chiefs.

I'm taking RB, AJ Dillon- Boston College. This team does not possess a true between the tackles (in OB's case between the guards) runner. Dillon is the guy for this job. Authoritative runner with excellent balance and hard to bring down.

I thought that was what I was doing.

My guess is that a "blind" mock differs from a "regular" mock. And I am too dumb to figure it out. Sorry guys.

:coffee:
Don't worry about it. Just vote for a player you think would be a good addition for the Texans that hasn't been taken yet in this draft.

4.111
ISAIAH HODGINS
OREGON STATE
WR

Zerlein-"Potential inside/outside target with below average speed but outstanding ball skills, instincts and will to make the contested catch. Scouts must balance his impressive pass-catching talent against issues eluding press-man and NFL-caliber coverage. Hodgins is astutely aware of coverage location in all areas of the field and adjusts accordingly. He's clearly more skilled than opponents when the ball is in the air, but the catch space will be tighter and the challenges more fierce as a pro. He needs to refine his route-running and may need to be moved and stacked in bunch sets for release freedom, but Hodgins has the ability to see the field in multiple-wideout sets as a middle-round pick."

Question is......can our coaches coach anyone up? I'm not convinced.

:coffee:

Now I’m glad I didn’t waste my time looking at potential 2nd round picks for the Texans. I know they have one left but there’s plenty of time before the draft for O’Brien to trade it.

The Houston Texans are now on the clock at pick 5.171 until 8 PM, 4/10/20.

With the Cooks trade and subsequent loss of RD2-57......Texans are probably going to forgo a WR in this draft.

There will still be several UDFA WRs that can make NFL rosters. And, it should be a banner year for the XFL picking up some of the sleepers that will get bypassed in this COVID 19 draft process.

Bryce Huff 6' 3" 255 lbs
Memphis
DE

'Started all 14 games … Moved from linebacker in 2018 to the defensive line in 2019 … Led the team in TFL (15.5), TFL yardage (74), sacks (6.5), sack yardage (43), QB hurries (16) and forced fumbles (2) … Seventh on the team in total tackles (52) and solo hits (33) … Posted 12 multi-tackle games … Had one fumble recovery … Ranked among the American Athletic Conference leaders in TFL (6th), TFL yardage (6th), sacks (8th) and sack yardage (9th)"

Replacement for losing Lynch @57 Also considered Tulsa's Gipson. Several good "prospects" left.

edit for sp. One handed typing sucks.

Other than being from Baylor, what sells you on this guy? The report I read projects him as a 4-3 DT

edit: Brugler's report a little more encouraging, but still has him as a 7th or PFA.

Give me a guy that's huge and has set weight lifting records. Plus most importantly he's tough as a boot

Give me a guy that's a football player and also fills a need. Lance Z doesn't even have Roy listed as a draftable player. Check out my edited post on Dotson

We need to add to Watsons safety and therefore his productivity so I am marketing Dodson who could start at RG sooner rather than later plus allow kelemete and Fulton to go. We can use the cap space and no one we cut on Dline will allow this. Over all IMO Dotson is logical choice.

I really think OG is the biggest need left and Dotson is highest rated available. We've already added edge @40. And Roy will be available as a UDFA

The Houston Texans are now on the clock at pick 7.240, 7.248, & 7.50 until 8 PM, 4/13/20.

Each voter makes 3 picks

Daniel Thomas- S- Auburn- 5'10-4.51 40, Should shine on ST

@cuppacoffee , Bryce Huff & Bravvion Roy are still available at the Texans selections in Round 7.

Sorry. This is where I get lost. I've already selected Huff. What to do now?
Both players were selected by multiple members so they should be added to the accepted group?

If I need to add three more players:
CB Demarkus Acy 6' 2" 195 lbs Missouri

"A lockdown corner and team captain who was a four-year contributor and three-year starter at one of the two cornerback spots … Represented the team at the SEC’s annual Media Days in July as one of the team’s leaders and top contributors … Posted 15 tackles and five pass breakups over 10 games as teams refused to throw his way all season … Missed the final two games of the 2019 season with an injury … Finished his career with 35 starts over his four seasons and had 99 career tackles, three career interceptions and 20 career pass breakups"

CB Luq Barcoo 6'1" 175 lbs San Deigo St.

"San Diego State senior cornerback Luq Barcoo is quietly having a potential All-American season for the Aztecs team. The senior currently sits tied for second in college football with seven interceptions.
He is tied for second place with University of Minnesota safety Antoine Winfield Jr., trailing Texas Tech defensive back Douglas Coleman III by one.
To go along with the seven interceptions for Barcoo, the 6’1” 175 pounder has also recorded 18 pass breakups for good measure. His ball skills have been on full display this entire season so far. "

LB Bryan London 6' 2" 232 lbs Tx. State

"Named an All-Sun Belt First-Team selection for the second straight season after averaging 9.8 tackles per game ... set school and Sun Belt Conference records with 459 career tackles rank ... his 459 career tackles rank 20th among the NCAA FBS Career Leaders ... four-year starter who made 12 starts in 2019 ... served as a team captain ... his 118 total tackles ranked second among 2019 Sun Belt leaders and marked the third time in the last four years he has recorded 100 tackles in a season ... registered 6.0 tackles for loss, one quarterback sack, and one interception in his senior season ... led the Bobcats with 53 solo tackles ... returned an interception 13 yards against Texas A&M ... had one pass breakup and two quarterback hurries ... recorded a career-high of 22 tackles against Georgia State ... had 14 tackles at Coastal Carolina in his final collegiate game ... tallied 13 tackles versus Louisiana ... had double-digit tackles in seven games."

Apologies for not getting it. Hope my confusion isn't the reason for players who dropped out of the exercise.

I'll remember to avoid any more blind drafts. Thank you for your patience.

If your players are not selected here they go back into a pool to be used as draft continues. Does that help?

Give me a guy that's a football player and also fills a need. Lance Z doesn't even have Roy listed as a draftable player. Check out my edited post on Dotson

I like them both and hope Roy is still there in the 7th rd.

He was very good at Baylor last yr. While I appreciate LZ's stuff, I trust my own evals.

1.
EDGE DEFENDER
First Team: Bryce Huff, Memphis
Huff was the AAC's second-best pass-rusher behind only Roche in total pressures and pass-rush grade. He brought down 54 total pressures, including seven sacks and 12 more QB hits to go with his 35 total hurries. His 24 defensive stops saw 17 of them come against the run, and he did so by limiting missed tackles very well. Huff obtained an elite grade when rushing the passer and overall for the season, as he was one of just four edge defenders in the conference to finish with elite grades in both.

2. RB Nate Gunn 6'2" 220 Minn State 241/1611 yards @ 6.7 per 29 TDs

3. WR Shane Zylstra 6'4" 215 Minn State 81/1676 @ 21per with 18 TDs

Seventh round selections should have blow your mind stats and skills

I don't have any standout corners and expect several will be signed UDFA. Really enjoyed this exercise and Kudos to all participants!

DE/OLB- Nick Coe (Auburn) 6-5 @ 280 lbs
OLB/DE- Joe Gaziano (Northwestern) 6-4 @ 280 lbs
OG/OC- Gage Cervanka (Clemson) 6-3 @ 321 lbs

Gotta be Oluwole Bentiku. Edge/DE.
5 star recruit finally lived up to the hype in 2019. Has nice array of moves.
Cant have enough pass rush right?
Put him on ST to hone his skills and compete with Omenihu for snaps.
Put me down for McTelvin Agim DL. Ark. Pick #248 or 250.
And DeMarkus Acy. CB Missouri.
