When former Buffalo coach Doug Marrone surprisingly opted out of his contract with the Bills on Dec. 31, the thought was he must have another job lined up.
Well, apparently not.
The Times-Union's Ryan O'Halloran spotted Marrone at EverBank Field on Wednesday. Marrone, who pocketed $4 million in leaving Buffalo, has already interviewed for the head coaching position with the New York Jets, Atlanta and Chicago. The Jets hired Arizona defensive coordinator Todd Bowles on Tuesday.
The fact that Marrone is in Jacksonville suggests he isn't a viable candidate in Chicago or Atlanta and is now scrambling for a job.
