2015 NFL Hirings/Firings

Our best offensive rankings on points were 8th and 9th both under Dennison. He and Little Shanny both had seasons at 10th for next best. Best on yardage is 3rd also shared by Dennison and Little Shanny.

Ok then. I've never personally looked at the rankings but I heard the offense was better under lil Shanny. I will stop spewing that wrong knowledge now. Repped.

I heard Quinn wanted Kyle Shanahan as his OC, but why would Kyle go there over joining Kubiak in Denver? Does he have any connection with Quinn or is he just wanting to be his own man?

Kyle wants to earn his own stripes. He has said following his father may not have been a good career move, and you could see Gary getting all the credit.

Plus, Kyle calls a different game than Gary. Has different ideas.

As you can see it's real close. Plus there's the problem of knowing how much is the OC and how much is on Kubiak since he is in on the whole process and calls plays when he wants. And in case you don't already know this, Little Shanny only called plays his last year here.

Also, Denver is one of the organizations that fired his dad. I don't know how much (if any) Elway was involved. Probably not eager to head back.

Wow, getting desperate. From PFT.com

Proving they’re willing to turn over every stone in their search for an offensive coordinator, the Browns interviewed one of the hottest names in the business.

From a decade ago, at least.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Browns interviewed former Rams head coach Mike Martz recently.

Per PFT.com

Kubiak was the second offensive coordinator in as many years to move to a head coaching job, following Jim Caldwell’s lead, and Marc Trestman may be trying to follow the same path. The Ravens announced that they have hired the former Bears head coach as their offensive coordinator a day after Kubiak was announced as the coach in Denver.

Can't say I'd be very excited about that hire if I was a Ravens fan.

Sure seems like the "shine" has come off Adam Gase. Perhaps he was just Peyton's assistant...?

Source tells @NFLonFOX that @Bengals will NOT be allowing DBs coach Vance Joseph to leave contract. Was linked to @Broncos DC job.

Ian Rapoport ‏@RapSheet
Former #Broncos OC Adam Gase is flying to Chicago to interview for #Bears OC tomorrow, source said. Could move very quickly.

#Raiders expected to interview former #Falcons coach Mike Smith for their defensive coordinator job, source said. Talked to Mangini today

Former Raiders offensive coordinator Greg Olson is returning to Jacksonville.

The Jaguars announced Wednesday morning Olson has been named the team's new offensive coordinator.

Olson was cut loose in Oakland with the rest of the Dennis Allen-Tony Sparano coaching staff. His fate was sealed Monday when new coach Jack Del Rio chose Bill Musgrave as offensive coordinator.

Nothing says committed to improving the 26th D like bringing in the 32nd D's DC.

I think Jay Cutler will be very happy with Adam Gase as his OC. If any team has "won" the coaching carousel in 2015, it's the Chicago Bears.

Maybe I'm missing something but why is Gase getting so much cred/attention? He's only been OC under Manning.

I think if you look at the turnover they've had at the skill positions, be it from FA defections or injury, Gase has done a good job of maintaining continuity. I think you also have to like how Gase shifted the focus to the run when Manning was injured in the 2nd half of the season. That kind of balance will work well in Chicago, with their offensive weapons. Add in what Fox and Fangio can do for the defense, and Chicago should make real improvements in 2015.

I'm certainly not saying Gase won't succeed. And he was QB coach and they need to get Cutler on track so that looks good. But do we even know what a Gase offense will look like?

I think you'll see a lot of single back sets from the shotgun, which will work well with Matt Forte. I think he has a TE that can split out and create mismatches in Bennett. One thing they probably need to find in FA or the draft is a slot WR to run the underneath crossing routes.

Gase strikes me as the kind of guy who is open to new ideas and has no problem checking his ego.

That doesn't mean he'll make a great OC without Peyton, but I do think more coaches would be successful if they had that personality trait.

Unless McDaniels is lined up to replace Belichick in NE, I don't see why he doesn't go somewhere else as an OC, establish himself with someone other than Belichick. I think that would be the route to go if he wanted to be a HC again.

According to McClain's Twitter feed, Kollar is headed to Denver. A lateral move. He will remain DLine coach.

Well hell, that doesn't make any sense. I wouldn't have thought his relationship with Kubiak would have been that strong & OB did elect to keep him around. Can't imagine OB rubs him the wrong way.

McClain mentions that Kollar has 2 grandsons out in Denver he wants to be close to.

10+12+2=24 wins
24 wins / 3 years = 8 wins averaged per year.

So yeah, 8-8 is the same stuff.

Okay, but during that three year period, the Texans were a .500 team one time, and that was after the 48th game. After each and every one of the other 47 games during the Kubiak/Phillips/Dennison/Kollar regime, they were above .500.

Now, admittedly, that's kind of a stupid way of looking at it, but to say the fan experience (you did reference Bronco Fans afterall) is something measured at a single point, only after that experience is concluded is also kind of a stupid way of looking at it.

Broncos contact Wade Phillips

Having been rebuffed in their attempt to hire their first choice for defensive coordinator, the Denver Broncos continued to reach into their past to round out Gary Kubiak's coaching staff.

The team has contacted former Broncos head coach and defensive coordinator Wade Phillips, multiple sources said Thursday. The move comes as the Broncos have been unable to secure Cincinnati Bengals defensive backs coach Vance Joseph as their defensive coordinator.

Interesting. It is not often that you see a former head coach for a team return as an assistant. I hope he gets the job. You can tell by his interviews that he's not done with coaching from his perspective.

So if your team wins 12 games and then 10 games on the way to a win in the SB and then goes 8-8, you're not okay with that?

Really? Because that's what the Ravens did for three years....

Kubiak's record as a HC is 61-64 (.488) regardless of who was on his staff, that's what Broncos fans have to look forward to. A couple good years, a couple bad years, and a bunch of mediocre years.

Yeah he had his most success 2 of the last 3 years but to say that's what expected is crazy talk. Hiring the same staff to do the same things and expecting different results sounds like the definition of insanity.

Was he here 3 years? What about the rest of the **** bag years?
Under Gary Kubiak we averaged 7.6 wins, 61-64 in 8 years.
Harbaugh's Ravens 72-40 in 7 years.

How many losing seasons have the Ravens had since Harbaugh became their HC? ZERO.

Kubiak isn't in the same league as Harbaugh. Don't try to sell me a mediocre turd sandwich.

Not sure about the time frame, but I'm pretty sure Dave Campo returned to the Cowboys as an assistant a few years after he was let go as head coach- maybe as LB coach?
