It is really hard to get excited for this Pats game now after that last match-up.

Pretty much a 0.3% chance this game is anywhere near as good as the Packers meltdown.

I hate the Patriots..... actually, I loathe my brother-in-law & he loves the Patriots, so I never want to see that Patriots succeed.

But more than that, I'm sick & tired of hearing about Andrew Luck. It's already unbearable. But he's already in the AFC Championship game & I can just feel it.... the Colts are going to the Super Bowl, Luck will probably win it & I'm going to be miserable the rest of the year.

If Luck played anywhere else I think a lot of people around here would like him. Indy going straight from Manning to Luck is just totally unfair.

I love the kid. He's a Houston kid who decided to play at Stanford when they sucked and he could have gone anywhere he wanted. He was the guaranteed #1 pick after his third year and decided to go back for one more to get his degree. The expectations people have placed on him from day one are astronomical, and to me he absolutely seems like he always measures up.

And on top of that, he appears to be everything you would want in a franchise player. I find him to be incredibly likeable. I root for him to play well every game. I just hope the rest of his team sucks and causes Indy to lose.

Not all his fault. The Packers should have done more with those 4 ints.

Agreed - he should never have been put in that position.

Green Bay should not have backed themselves into a corner where they needed to recover an onside kick and get a first down to save the game.

I agree with you. He made one bad play in a game full of them.

But I'd be willing to bet he gets the bulk of the death threats, much like the KR for SF.

Take aways from the post game:

Win the Superbowl - go to Disneyland and the White House.

Win the NFC - win a Seattle Police Dept. bicycle.

And THAT is why February matters so much to these players.

Go to the White House...... That kinda puts a damper on winning the Super Bowl. Would it be possible to go when the idiot and his baboon looking wife were on vacation???

Overtime still sucks. Seeing Aaron Rodgers watching from the sidelines while the outcome was decided just seems wrong. Although I don't have a better option.

Yeah, but you know how people are. He won't be getting any more free cheeses/kielbasas.

Agree 100%. He's geeky good off the field, and drops dimes on it.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the OT rules. You want the defense to be forced to stop the offense from scoring a TD.

Rob Demovsky ‏@RobDemovsky
Brandon Bostick said his job was to block on that on-side kick recovery. But he said when he saw the ball he thought he could get it.

The guy right behind Bostick...? Jordy Nelson.

Herron with back to back drops. Second one would have been a tough catch for a RB but it was right there in both hands inside the five.

The better option has to be the college system - let a team have the right of reply, regardless of the outcome of the first drive.

Unless they can come up with a football decider for who gets the ball first, rather than a coin toss - the current setup will always be unfair.

Sheesh that is some catch from Vereen.

Don't know how he even saw the ball into his hands there. Great stuff from a RB.

There's nothing unfair about it. Either win the game in regulation, which the Packers had PLENTY of chances to do, or play DEFENSE and don't give up a 35 yard bomb to end your season, because last I checked, defense is a part of football too..

Colts are overmatched on defense. That press stuff worked last week when you had an injured and aging Manning struggling to hit anything over 5 yards. That's not going to work against the Pats. With no pass rush Brady will pick them apart.

Also, Pep Hamilton might be the worst OC in the league. There have been a lot of drops so far, but Indy cannot ever get things going early with him at the helm.

They were the only team in the NFL to not score on their opening possession once during the regular season and they literally cannot do anything on offense until they get off his script, fall behind, and put the game on Luck's shoulders.

How can a Texans fan want the dolts to win anything.

Unfortunately, that's what rivalries are like around here. It's not the Colts stopping us from doing anything, we're just not good enough... so we hate anyone who's successful (which is why I hate Luck by the way).

One day, we'll be playing games that matter & we'll have real reasons to hate.

It is unfair because there is a huge built in advantage with a coin toss - which is not part of the game.

I totally get that there are two sides to the ball - but to give one offense a chance to score a sudden death TD just puts too much importance on a coin toss.

Again, if they could figure out a footballing way to decide who gets the ball first, rather than a coin toss, then I'd be happy - heck giving the ball to the team with his highest net yards gained/conceded would be a better setup than what they currently have.

But the Packers made the call.

I don't have a problem with the coin toss since OT is not sudden death any more. It's the same way they start the game.

& again, the Packers made the call, lost the toss. However, they pinned the Seahawks to their 13 yard line after the kick. They gave up 87 yards & a TD. They lost that game & the coin toss was the least of their problems.

The stats on that would prove otherwise. Even before the rule change, teams who won the toss didn't win on the 1st possession as often as you think.

I can get behind that. Unless of course they start at the opponents 25 like they do in college. Automatic FG position is just as terrible.

Absolutely - the Packers did not deserve to win that game. The chance to call a coin toss correctly isn't an advantage though - it is still 50/50 regardless of who calls it.

The biggest problem with the "defense is still football" argument is - so is a field goal. It is worth three points, which breaks a tie. If you dont want to lose on a field goal, use both your special teams and your defense and dont let them get into field goal range. Whilst a field goal may be easier to score - TDs are getting easier and easier to score with the high octane offensive football the NFL is trying to push.

The NFL have created this daft double system with their rules changes. They should have stood firm and left it as it was before, or completely changed over to college format. Do what you like - just make it consistent.

Sounds like the only fair way to do it would be to make it an extra period, just like basketball. The team that scores to tie the game would kick off, just like it was between the 1st & 2nd qtr, or the 3rd & 4th qtr.

Let them play for another 15 minutes & whoever wins wins.

Then you would have problems with ties at the end of OT.
