2014 Texans Talk Mock Draft SELECTION

With the 111th pick in the TT Mock Draft the Detroit Lions select Christian Kirksey OLB Iowa, Big 10.

One of Detroits biggest problems on defense last yr was they didn't have a LB that could match up with TE'/RB's. Kirksey helps solve that problem. He's a smart OLB who can run well enough to cover TE's and while he's not a thumper, Kirksey is a very sound tackler.

Locker may or may not be The Guy. With McCarron, you get someone who could come in here and take the job from him. At the very least, you get to give Locker one last chance to develop while you're preparing McCarron if he doesn't.

The Miami Dolphins select...

Anthony Johnson - DT - LSU - SEC

Will help improve a Miami D-line that was inconsistent at times last season, will certainly help against the run, and take the pressure off Miami's LB corps. I have him graded as an early 3rd rounder (think he's got a lot of potential). Pleased he's still here. Having Cameron Wake next to him should help.

The Jets just added another playmaker to their offense. Vick will have some major weapons at his disposal. Fastest TE at the combine. Great hands, can get down the seam.

Decker/Leonard/Evans and Vick. Rex can win with those type guys in his offense.

I picked Ego Ferguson but didn't see Anthony Johnson was still available. I like him more out of the two.

I'll take Ferguson if we can't change picks, though.

Yep and I'm going to pick one for the Bears.

With the 117th pick in the TT Mock draft the Chicago Bears select Dominique Easley DT, Florida, SEC

Easley would've been a top 15 pick had he not suffered an ACL injury in practice. 4th rd seems about right to take a risk on a player of Easley's talent. Easley/Crichton/Houston form the Bears new quite formidable pass rush.

DT wasn't a pressing need for the Cardinals but his value was going to be too hard to pass over.

Cannot believe he was still available. 1st round talent if not for the injury. That's a downright steal, especially for a team like the Bears who really need a DT.

Easley is talented no doubt, but doesn't he have two non-contact ACL tears? I was wondering what pushed him down so far. I considered him but injury concerns...

Yep,

That's the risk.

Top 10 talent on 2 surgically repaired knees. If the Bears get 3 seasons of Easley reaching his full potential then they got their $$$$ worth from a 4th rd pick.

Seriously. I had him on my board as a 5-7th rounder due to injury concerns. He's a talented guy, but I'm not gonna bother drafting people that I can't count on to play.

Also I would like to point out that the Texans own Jared Crick, DE, Nebraska was another one of these "1st round talent if not for the injury" kind of guys. Easley is a better prospect than him, but it seems every year we have players like that.

Good call. I have seen a lot of boards rating Ego over Anthony, and I really have no clue why. Ego is big, but he doesn't really play with any strength or power. I have him rated in the 5-7th bin. Johnson on the other hand could be a good DT. He seems to anchor much better than Ego, and he can get in the backfield sometimes.
