2014 NFL Draft chatter/rumors/news

I've got two screens on my desk and sit with my back to the wall.

I figure one screen will be showing the draft, the other I'll be 'working'

he 2014 NFL draft is almost upon us — have you been studying up? If not, it may be too late for you to put together scouting reports on this year’s prospects (don’t worry, we’ve got your back), but you can still sound like an expert when everyone gathers around the water cooler the Monday after the draft. Below are 50 facts about this draft – some good, some bad, some weird.

Now trade one of the thirds and a fourth for another 2nd

Absolutely not! The #81 could be FS Dione Bailey, DT Justin Ellis, ILB Chris Borland, Cb Stanley Jean-Baptiste, RB Terrence West or OLB Christian Jones.. The # 135 Cb Ross Cockrell, TE Crockett Gilmore, QB Aaron Murray or OG Yankey

But that second could be McCarron :kitten:

OMG

why can't he be more like Cal?

Making commercials for Southern Comfort?

look at that 'stache and silly ass grin....god knows how many lines of coke he did off floozies back in the day.

at least he knows his role and keeps his mouth shut...for all we know he's the tommy callahan of the Texans.

I must smile just a little at the fact that, after what I deem to be some head-scratching moves last year, the Colts are left with only 5 draft picks......beginning at #59.:texflag:

Out of all the positions I would say RB is the least important to be intelligent.

Agreed. RB's need a certain amount of football IQ (which is not to be confused with actual IQ). You only have to look as far as Trent Richardson to see what zero football IQ will get you. Guy can't find a cutback lane to save his life.

Hyde may be dumb (and also a woman beater) but he knows how to play the RB position.

Yeah I agree. I'm not saying that the scores matter. Just that after doing my research on both guys, I find myself completely unsurprised that they scored so low.

Aren't there always at least two wtf picks in any draft by pick 10
Maybe who is picked by whom. The last real wtf top 10 pick I remember was the Jags taking Tyson Alualu @ #10 in 2010. If I were to guess two surprise picks, they would be Ha Ha Clinton Dix and Kyle Fuller (who I think is the #1 CB, now). A surprise inside the top 10 would be the Rams taking Matthews over Robinson.

Wow, what a shocker that pick was. Surprises like that move by the Jags is an example of one of the things that make the Draft fun and exciting.

Yeah, but to be fair, in two of the three years since then, the Raiders didn't have a first round pick, and in the other, they were picking 12th. That right there seriously diminishes the chances.

Hearing rumblings of a potential draft day trade that could blow the top off of the draft involving the QB position.

The rumor that I've heard is Sam Bradford to Cleveland in exchange for the #4 pick. I'm assuming that's what he's referring to.

McShay went public with something I had been kicking around...

Falcons trade up with Rams.

Texans and Falcons swap #1 &#2.

Brings some interesting scenarios to the fore.

I wouldn't give the #34 pick for Bradford, his ACL, and ridiculous contract.

Neither would I. But this is also the Browns we're talking about.

I don't believe the rumor to be true at all though. Just passing it along as I assume that's what he's referring to.

Moving up twice? That sounds expensive for the Falcons.

My guess is that by doing it in "chunks' it is cheaper (even if not a lot) than going straight to the number 1 pick. Only reason it makes sense to me.

Or maybe they are going with the "Draft Day" school of thought as practiced by GM Kevin Costner ?

I think the reason it would happen is because the Texans don't want to move all the way to #6. There would be 3 QB hungry teams (Jags, Browns, Raiders) above them. Maybe some people are certain that these teams are passing on QBs in the 1st round. But the Texans aren't.

What would the Falcons have left to trade after moving from #6 to #2? I would assume the Rams would ask for at least their 2nd and 3rd. What would be left after that? 2015 picks? The Falcons would be mortgaging 2 drafts to get one guy. It's been done. But like I said, that's very pricey.

Can you explain this without spoiling the movie for those who have yet to see it (like me)?

Seems like it would cost a lot but if Texans don't want Clowney and do get second pick AND the same player they want at first, then just about anything would be gravy. Not sure if Atlanta would give up 1,2 & 3 this draft + prob a 2015 second to Texans?

There are some "trades" made by GM Costner and other GMs in this "movie" which aren't totally realistic, and I'll just leave it at that. Nevertheless I'd recommend the movie. It's kinda corny, but still with Costner and Garner along with some good supporting actors it's a strong cast and I found it entertaining with some especially enjoyable moments, including one when I almost teared a little but that was because they were playing a rousing marching band tune while showing a great shot of Reliant/NRG stadium.

I thought that they used some real draft stuff as an outline . I can see Anthony Moreno being Daniel Snyderish in wanting to make a splash . Moreno and Costner were at a amusement park when he told Costner to make a splash and Snyder owned Astroworld before he closed it .

I thought the funny thing is capturing a GM on draft day as his real life gets in the way . It's predictable but interesting so I give it a thumbs up .
