2012 Texans Talk Mock Draft

He has been on today, 3hrs ago.

At what point do we just give them Andrew Luck?

Honestly, I don't know that he knows that we are starting. I'm not sure how many people know that. In any case, I will PM him and tell him to post a pick here. Give him till tomorrow morning as I'm sure he will pick.

Let's get this party started guys! THIS is the thread to make your picks, they will be recorded on their own in the other thread by SM when he can. I PM'd Dopp to let him know to make a pick. Give him till tomorrow morning to do so. In the mean time, get your boards ready. Anyone who wants to PM me picks can do so while SM is gone. I don't mind, and I won't look at the PM until it is time for your team's selection as to avoid any advantage on my behalf. :)

Good morning/afternoon to all of the other teams in the Texans Talk Mock draft. The DoppelColts are now ready to make our selection.

As a struggling franchise we have decided to do a full analysis of our team needs. At a careful and critique study we have concluded that our team sucks and we need help across the board. We would have liked to have traded own and acquired more picks, but since that was not possible, we have ultimately decided to stay put and make a choice.

We select this young man becuase he can pass the ball accurately and was able to hit on 70+% passing. He did this with and without a QB guru leading him down the field. He can throw from the pocket and the run. He has the arm to make all the throws. Good teams are built on good passing and we feel this young man more than justifies this spot. In this draft, there is nothing that is a certainity, but we feel he is truly a cornerstone of our franchise.

Without any further ado, The DoppelColts are pleased to present to you our number 1 selection of the First Round: Mr. Andrew Luck!

Great selection by the DoppelColts.

I just hate that Luck is now in our division. Luckily we have a pretty stellar defense and pass rush that will give the rookie some fits. Sorry Oliver, but I hope to see your son laid out several times in his NFL career.

Safe pick by doppleganger.

I was wondering if he would over think it and do something crazy.

REALLY wanted to trade down and acquire picks. If I was the real GM of the Colts, that's what I would have done. I think its certainly feasible to get a boatload of picks for #1 this year and extra picks can revitalize the organization.

That said, if I have to stay put, I'll take Luck.

One thing we don't know for sure at this time is if Luck is ok with going to the Colts. Eli maneuvered his way out of San Diego and Elway out of Baltimore. I don't know what Luck thinks about Indy.

everyone knows this pick is getting traded and rg3 is gonna go here to whoever offers the most, but i'm gonna draft as if the rams received 0 decent offers and have to stay with the 2nd overall pick.

with that in mind, with the 2nd overall pick in the 2012 texans talk mock draft the st. louis rams select...

matt kalil, ot, usc

with many deficiencies on their team and a host of choices to make to help fix those, the rams decide to help keep their talented young QB on his feet and on the field. with so much invested in bradford, the rams decide to protect him from a david carr scenario and select the top rated tackle in the 2012 draft class. great feet, athleticism, and power make him a future bookend on the rams line for years to come.

the minnesota vikings and section516 are on the clock!

Sam Bradford dropped to his knees and prayed to Jesus! Kalil is going to be a solid left tackle in the NFL; I see many Pro Bowls for this guy.

In the meantime, I would like to discuss what the next team up should do. Since Kalil is gone and there really isn't a top five CB available, I think the Vikings should go for Justin Blackmon to pair up with Percy Harvin. In any case, WR should be the pick here.

Ummm, Maurice Claiborne isn't a top 5 CB? What are you talking about?

In Any case the Browns pick is pretty obvious once the Vikings make theirs, unless he goes out on a limb and takes my guy.

Just watched the DT/LB combine on my DVR, and from here on out I think we should presume the next pick will always be Poe. Since he's got the build of a brick sh*t-house, the strength of an ox, and the feet of a river dancer. I'm surprised he didn't go #1 to the Colts...

But wait a second, do GM's look at game film? You wouldn't think so if you've heard Mayock's rambling. /sarcasm

But seriously, the next pick should be Claiborne. He made playing CB in the SEC look easy.

Sorry, was out for military training.

RGIII. Just because Ponder did alright, doesn't mean i have to be glued to him. Realistically, Vikings won't be in this position. But, since there are no trades, RGIII. BPA.

I have to say, this is not something I have even considered for Minnesota but....I think it's brilliant. Kalil is far and away their top target and then after that you have Claiborne. They could land a ransom by grabbing Griffin though and putting him on the block or they could keep him and shop Ponder (for much less IMO).

Lame... I was hoping to get RG3 for nothing... :( Oh well, looks like Colt McCoy gets a shot to prove himself as a franchise QB this year. In order to help him do so, the Cleveland Browns select Justin Blackmon, WR Oklahoma State. At the combine he weighed in at 6'1 207 pounds. He ought to be the #1 WR that the Browns have been sorely lacking.

Hey guys, one other thing that can help speed up this process is to enable email from other members on your profile. Some have it, some don't, but I would imagine people check their email more often than this site. To enable it, go to "User CP", then click "Edit Options" on the side and make sure you have the box checked for "Receive Email from Other Members". I may use that to notify people when they have it enabled.

With the 5th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select:

CB Morris Claiborne, LSU

OptimizedMoClaiborneINT.jpg

The Bucs have glaring weaknesses at cornerback in a division in which they play Drew Brees, Matt Ryan, and Cam Newton. Ronde Barber will be 37 years old next season and is contemplating retirement after a one year contract expired this past season. Recent reports indicate that Aqib Talib will remain a Buccaneer moving forward, but legal issues may put him in jail during the season. The Bucs need a guy to play right away and Claiborne is as ready as any corner in this draft.

The Washington Redskins and Aussie Texan are now on the clock.

With the 6th pick of the 2012 NFL draft the Washington Redskins select...

Jonathan Martin OT Stanford

This was a very difficult pick.
With top prospects gone that we had an eye on (claiborne, RG3).

The redskins are the quintessential average team. In all team stats they lie around the 10-20 mark. But doing some more research i found out that there QB got "hit" the 3rd most times last year.
They need help on the o-line to protect our new QB (...Manning lol).

I selected Martin because his a better run-blocker then Reiff.
With shannahan running the ball is a focus and we need a strong RT.

Martin can and will develop his pass-blocking as well

Ponder has WCO QB written all over him .

Yep,

The Texans need to be on the lookout for a QB of the future. Unless you think Yates is the QB of the future. I dont, he's a high end backup. IMHO

Although Yates should be very proud of the way he played, in one of the most difficult situations imaginable.

Man this mock is much different than I expected already.

Will do

Hou Tex doesn't get on the MB during the weekends. So we will start this thing again Monday morning. Lets get some opinions on the picks so far and how the mock is going in general.

I'm sure glad I dont have to pick for the Redskins. They were in a pickle at pick #6. BPA didn't really match their needs. I would've taken Floyd. But Martin is a good pick.

^ So far things are good. The Vikings drafting RG3 was an oddball move but, at least it makes sense in theory whereby they can trade Ponder for draft picks/players.

mate was bloody difficult. was debating over floyd and martin. but figured the redskins have decent WR (not great) but need help to protect there QB who ever he is.

i went through so many possibilities but just couldn't find the right fit. considered coples as well as my 5-technique but felt he isn't worth a top 10 pick.

so far all the picks have been very good.

Tampa badly need help on Defence and claiborne is the BPA plus feels a need.

Rams selecting Kalil is again BPA at a position of DESPERATE need.

Vikings = RG3, threw a massive spanner in the works but i like it. Harvin is going to love this!

Colts with luck well i just don't see it i have a feeling that week 1 jj Watt barrels saturday and puts luck on injury reserve for the year lol ... seriously though obvious pick and the pros are obvious too.

Blackmon to the browns i really like. still think Mccoy as something in him and needs weapons. Blackmon and greg little are too solid young WRs to help out Colt

Martin is my #2 Tackle in the Draft. I've never though of Reiff as a LT and there was no way I draft a RT in the top half of the first round, so I consider him overrated
