FYI, the Raiders (2 picks), Falcons (5 picks) and Saints (7 picks) are not listed due to trading away their 1sts.

Edit to update pick numbers. Good site to check up on pick trades: http://www.prosportstransactions.com/football/DraftTrades/Years/2012.htm

I believe the Raiders will have a copensatory 3/4th for losing ASO and Gallery in FA.

Are we allowed to make trades or are do we need to make picks in our spots?

We didn't allow trades last year, but did update the draft order as actual NFL trades were announced. There are still about 8 trades outstanding that the NFL or teams have not disclosed the details of. We may learn those details in the near future. So pretty much just don't pick the Raiders and you'll have at least 5 picks to work with.

We didn't include comp picks last year. The comp picks were not announced until the end of March, so I don't know if we want to wait that long to start this draft.

Forgot about that, there's a estimated comp pick list somewhere. If you wanted to include the comp picks.

The trade thingy just seems to mess the mock up. IMHO

I updated the list to add MistaRed to the Bears, anyone else see someone that was overlooked or forgotten? We still got a few teams left, someone pick em.

Oh too bad. As the newly appointed GM of the Indianapolis Colts, I was willing to consider trades for the #1 pick in the draft!

Take me off please ... Give the Rams to either Texan4Ever or Rmartin65.

I just dont have time to do the research and dont want to half ass it.

I don't see any reason to disallow selection of the Giants at this point. Order can be updated after the SB. 11 spots left, unless we let someone take the Texans. I suggest we make the Raiders group selection because they only have 2 picks which are in the 5th and 6th round.

I good with all of this. No trades though, that will just get crazy for no good reason....I say we run the 1st round, see how everyone feels about that and then continue through round 3 or 4. I don't particularly want to go 7 rounds unless I'm getting paid by the Panthers!!!

I think you have to go several because it reveals the percieved strengths of the draft .

Agree with the no trades thing.

1 rd=LOL, if you truly feel this way you should drop out now.

This should be a comittment by all that have signed up. IMHO

I agree with not having any trades. We would all have to assemble war rooms and have friends to come over and work the phones. Just too much

I'll take two teams if I need to. But I'd like to take another that doesn't have many draft picks. Why not create a list of those dedicated enough to take two teams?

TWO TEAM LIST

1. Shaft75 - Falcons or Raiders

This happens every year. Then as it gets closer to the draft more fellow posters become interested, see the draft thread & think it would be cool to play, which should be a huge part since we are all in this to help our fellow Texan fans. If that becomes the case I would be willing to pull out. I've agreed to work with the boys on another mock joint venture exclusively Texans which is the only team I really care about anyway. :texans:

I think we should have a person selecting for the Texans, not group selection. Group selection sounds like alot of debating back and forth with the potential to really slow the draft process. Whoevers in charge, draw a name from a hat from among us and let that person be the Texans GM.

I added Pbat488 and WolverineFan. There's a few teams left guys.

I wouldn't mind taking on two teams however, there are several board members that want to participate that don't get a chance so I think we should allow them to take part. Afterward, we should allow people to double up if we have teams remaining.

In previous years one of two things happen.

After a couple of rounds people start to drop out and a hardcore group take a couple of teams and do it over again.

or

After a couple of rounds people drop out and the dedicated people take on extra teams and finish it off.

Either way, we all know that everyone signed up isn't committed to do the whole 7 rounds, while some are.

Does it come down to a question of letting someone make 2 picks and then we debate about someone taking that team over, or do we just give the extra teams to dedicated drafters now and cut out the fuss?

For this reason why don't we only do 4 rounds. The late round guys could go anywhere from 5th -7th rounds and aren't that important anyway, though they bring good depth.

Ill take the Seahawks if they are still available. Im willing to take 2 teams if you guys need me to. Ravens or Seahawks would be my top two

I've always enjoyed a group where 16 dedicated people take 2 teams.

Last yr we did this and it worked very well.

This was a 7 rd mock. Check out last yrs results.

That's not for me to say. That decision is for whoever is running the mock. (Who is running the mock?)

It was just a comment to the people who aren't committed to do the full mock.

Well, one thing that really helps with running the mock is admin rights to this part of the board. I know SM has them for the Mock section and it helps with consolidating threads, organizing the picks and stickying all the stuff that matters. Unless another mod wants to do the legwork, it really doesn't benefit the group for a regular member to run it because all the information will be spread out around the threads.

Agreed

SM said that he wanted to participate this yr, but not run it.

Texans 4ever helped SM last yr. So he might have the priviledges and be willing to run it.

I think the problem we are running into is that there isn't a clear understanding of that the draft will be. I think this mock was setup backwards from the way it should have been. I think it would have been better to have had someone (or a group) step up and take control and responsibility for the mock in the beginning. They could have a clear set of expectations in regards to how many rounds, how many teams per member, etc set forth from the beginning.

Now we are in a situation where we are trying to decide between a 3-4 round mock and a full 7.

I think it would be a very good idea if someone steps up and takes full responsibility. Then they can lay out the rules ahead of time and give people an opportunity to continue or decommit BEFORE the mock starts.

As was previously stated, the person in charge should have admin privileges to merge threads.

Why don't we give it a couple more days for people to claim a team and if by Tuesday at noon if there are teams left over then those that have volunteered to take on a 2nd team can do so. There are several people who volunteered for the mock on the first couple pages but still haven't claimed a team yet. Hopefully everyone that has singed up is down for doing the whole thing and paying attention to the mock, not half assing it.

Just an idea but we should have a chat room going for the mock draft then have an admin posting the results of mock picks in the mock thread as they happen so it dont turn into a big mess of pages in thread between picks.

Know your enemy type thing...

I dont mind running this thing as long as I get some help from everyone else as far as keeping people on time and on task. The most draining part is chasing MIA members down. We can either start the mock now, or wait until the combine is over. Combine is Feb. 22-28.

Here are the tweaked rules we have used the past few years. They seem to work pretty well.

RULES:
NO TRADES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Start: Mock will NOT start until after the combine. [Feb. 22-28.]
Teams: 1 team per user.
Rounds: This is a 7 round mock.

CLOCK RULES:
Your clock time starts when the team in front of you makes a pick. Unless it was made while the clock is not running. In that case it will start at 7AM of the following weekday morning.

Round (1): 24 hours per pick. (Clock Only runs from 7AM-9PM)
Rounds (2-7): 12 hours per pick. (Clock Only runs from 7AM-9PM)
Night: Clock stops running at 9PM. Picks can still be made.
Morning: Clock starts running at 7AM. Picks can still be made.
Weekends: Clock stops. Picks can still be made.

Unavailable, proxy or MIA:
1.) If you miss a single pick, the rest of your teams draft will be a group pick.
2.) If you know you will be gone for awhile and might miss your pick, PM top players to myself or another member of this mock. They will make a proxy pick for you.

Does this make sense to everyone? Did I miss anything that should be covered?

Nope. Looks the same as last year.

This is not a Swiss watch and the thing that gets me is someone's been on the clock for 6 hours and was on the board an hour ago . I guess they have to go research it or something .

On that subject, I recall last year several people being impatient with those taking their time, and I think that needs to be addressed before we start this year. If we all agree to the rules and time limits, there shouldn't be any whining or harassing people to make picks simply because they are online. If someone is about to hit their time limit, then sure bring it up, but if the guy has 10 hours left and isn't ready to make his pick, don't beat him over the head about it.

Also, if you upset others with making their picks, they will be less likely to complete the draft.

On the other hand it makes things run smoother to pick as soon as you can because if I check in and am ready to pick and the person before me just ain't ready , I checked in because I know that I will not be back for 8 hours then it stalls the process .

Then send your pick to SM or whoever is taking them down so he can post it for you.

Bottom line, be prepared. Try to be ready before your pick comes up. But yes, no group picks until their clock has expired. And do keep the pick blasting to a minimum.
