2010 Texans Schedule

I think the Texans are as good as any team on our schedule in 2010. In '09 if Danta Robinson would have showed up for training camp we might have started 3-0. Not 1-2. Robinson is the reason for the slow start of the defense. He is to blame for the Texans not making the playoffs.

I do think 2010 schedule will be brutal compare to 2009
considered the fact that we 1 and 5 in our division this year. Next year might not be much better. Titans will not be an 0-6 team next year. Also, these home game aren't cake-walk either:

San Diego Chargers
Baltimore Ravens
Dallas Cowboys
New York Giants

The Texans should not be an easy scheduling spot on any other teams schedule next year either. This works both ways.

First off, welcome to the board. Secondly, if I were forced to point blame at one position during those 3 games it'd be both Safety positions. IIRC, we had Barber and Busing starting.....bleh!

Additionally, we had a rookie LB that had sit throughout the pre-season starting in his first game ever.

right cause dunta was the one not tackling the rb's that were running wild

2009 TEAM-BY-TEAM STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE
1. Miami Dolphins 7-9
2. Carolina Panthers 8-8
3. New England Patriots 10-6
4. Atlanta Falcons 9-7
5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 3-13
6. Buffalo Bills 6-10
7. New York Jets 9-7
8. New Orleans Saints 13-3
9. Philadelphia Eagles 11-5
10. New York Giants 8-8
11. Dallas Cowboys 11-5
11. Jacksonville Jaguars 7-9
13. Indianapolis Colts 14-2
14. Tennessee Titans 8-8
15. Houston Texans 9-7
16. Washington Redskins 8-8
17. Kansas City Chiefs 4-12
17. San Diego Chargers 13-3
19. Denver Broncos 8-8
19. Oakland Raiders 5-11
21. Detroit Lions 2-14
22. Cincinnati Bengals 10-6
22. St. Louis Rams 1-15
24. Seattle Seahawks 5-11
25. Cleveland Browns 5-11
26. San Francisco 49ers 8-8
27. Arizona Cardinals 10-6
28. Baltimore Ravens 9-7
29. Pittsburgh Steelers 9-7
30. Green Bay Packers 11-5
31. Minnesota Vikings 12-4
32. Chicago Bears 7-9

The ranking is how their SOS was at beginning of season, end number is their record after 2009 season. Itseems some teams with easy schedules did not benefit, nor did teams with tough schedules do badly. I think it is a matter of luck, injuries, your division and rest of NFL, so despite fact we got one heck of an SOS for 2010 will wait and see how that plays out

The strength of schedule BEFORE the season is really irrelevant because it's based on their opponents' schedules from the PREVIOUS season.

To really get a meaningful strength of schedule, you have to calculate each team's opponents' combined records for 2009. I couldn't find it calculated anywhere on the net and I didn't feel like taking the time to calculate it myself.

Here you go - Link

They have it to determine draft order for teams with equal records.

Some interesting notes:

These were the top 5 predicted difficulty strengths of schedules:

1. Miami Dolphins 7-9
2. Carolina Panthers 8-8
3. New England Patriots 10-6
4. Atlanta Falcons 9-7
5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 3-13

They finished as:
Miami - .559 (1st hardest schedule)
Carolina - .539 (3rd hardest schedule)
NE - .516 (12th hardest)
Atl - .504 (somewhere in the middle)
TB - .555 (2nd hardest schedule)

So while there is some variability in schedules as compared to how they are predicted, as you can see, the teams who looked to have the hardest schedules after the 08-09 season usually DID in fact have the hardest season in 09-10

OTOH, you've got teams like the Saints, who were expected to have a fairly hard schedule, who ended up having the weakest schedule. The Colts were expected to have a moderate schedule and had a relatively weak one.

Either way, we didn't have one of the hardest or one of the weakest schedules has has been claimed. We finished tied for the 10th hardest schedule out of 20. Right in the middle.

what nfc division do we play next year?? Is it time to face the cowgirls in the regular season again???

Question are the On the back of the envelope It says the raiders are coming and on the inside it said the chiefs were coming. Does anyone know which one is right.

If we don't replace our center, nothing is going to change. Haloti Ngata and Kris Jenkins will do what they always do and that is completely own and embarrass Chris Myers.

Silly me, I'll be praying, from now untill april 24th, that Iupati, falls and we have the good sense to take him with the twenty if he does. He'll give us a chance I believe. I don't think Myers is going anywhere.

I say 10-6 based off of what we know now.

Colts(x2) - playoffs
Chargers - playoffs
Ravens - playoffs
Cowboys - playoffs
Eagles - playoffs
Jets - playoffs
Giants - 9 wins
Titans(x2) - 8 wins
Broncos - 8 wins
Jaguars(x2) - 7 wins

All of those teams were capable of beating the Texan's this year. Not that they would but I actually think the Texan's would have been .500 at best against those teams and that's 13 games. Raiders and Redskins will also be improved next year as well. I am happy for you guys that you finally broke the barrier of .500 but don't get too out of control. This is still a team made up of players that for the most part haven't experienced what it takes to make the playoffs. Titans started out 10-0 last year. They only lost one started and they started 0-6 this year. I'd wait til you see how they fair early in the season before I got my hopes up and expect double digit wins. Like I said... based off this year, that schedule would be ridiculous. Probably the toughest in the NFL.

Looks like I will be going to the games in Denver and Philadelphia, who else is going to these games? Try and get a group together.

Preseason sch sucks! IMO! I have no desire to see the Cowboys twice in one year. WHY the hell do we have to play TB every friggin year?!!!!

^^^^^^^^

Wouldn't just be simpler to say preseason sucks? They REALLY need to get it down to two games.

Schedule to be released Tuesday - April 13th

TVGuide has an "NFL Schedule Release Show" at 6p on April 13th on ESPN2

Good news about the schedule being released soon. It will provide hours upon hours of entertainment for me trying to break down possible scenarioes and stuff like that.:hurrah:

hey we got the 0-3 astros to watch thats something haha

0-6 now

No Rockets playoffs and the Astros suck

This is going to be a touch stretch of the sports calendar, but also a great time to give Futbol or Soccer a shot. The Dynamo are always pretty good and the World Cup is right around the corner.

Soo I found some articles saying that the schedule doesn't have an exact release date (last year 4/14) even though the rumor of 4/13 was started from somebody noticing an ESPN2 special on the NFL Schedule release, I looked on UVerse lineup for today and didn't see such a special.

New reports say later this week or early next week, no confirmed date.

Sorry I brought up the other rumor...more waiting....

I hope they release primetime games today, that would make the waiting tolerable.

This morning on NFL Network, they were still just saying "sometime this week." I think that was a repeat from yesterday afternoon though...

On Dish network on ESPN2 it does say nfl special release at 6pm, So maybe it is today.

Anybody?

Anybody?

The complicated riddle that is the NFL regular-season schedule has not been solved yet, and all we know for sure at this point is it will be out before the NFL draft begins next Thursday night in New York City.

League schedule-makers continue to work on the 256-game slate, and a league spokesman confirms to SI.com that the NFL now hopes to announce it by "later this week or early next week."

"They are still working on it. And if we had it done, we'd be rolling it out," NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said Tuesday. "We're still shooting for later this week or early next week at the latest."

The NFL Network will televise a schedule release show in primetime on the day the league rolls out its schedule and that programming has yet to be nailed down. The league is likely to announce the timing of that program a day or two in advance in order to publicize the show.

Opponents for all 32 teams have been known since the close of the 2009 regular season. The drama of the schedule release, however, is the first announcement of how each team's season will unfold and which games will be nationally televised in primetime.
