Houston Texans 2025 Training Camp

That doesn't represent the characteristics of a leader.

Would Brady/Manning/Staubach/Elway/Montana react this way?
interesting take, I prefer the traditional leadership style too but modern leaders such as Cj connects with their teammates on a human level. When a leader openly expresses genuine emotion, it builds trust and shows that they care deeply about the people around them. It's not about being a robot lol it's about being a human being who inspires others through authentic connection. The fact that Brady, Manning or others may have reacted differently doesn't make their way the right way. It just makes it their way. Different eras, different leadership styles. Ofc I think Cj will grow as he ages and stop crying, he’s still a young man

Some guys cry & keep getting their butts whooped. That's Cj.

Other guys cry, then go out & whup ass. That's not Cj.

Sht happens & people change. Some change for the better, get stronger. Others stop fighting. I'm waiting to see which way Cj goes. Imo, it's not looking good for Cj.
Dang people already trying to get their pseudo CJ is a bust takes in earlier than I expected.

I for one think CJ is fantastic and he’s exactly what I want in a QB.

Bookmarked the comment for later though. I’ve seen some dudes cry and whoop some asses - like CJ did to finish off that practice.

Nobody is saying CJ is a bust

I'm saying he doesn't act like the greats in the present or past have in times of crisis.

In the grand scheme of things it doesn’t much matter what a bunch of old farts on a message board think of CJ. Do his teammates and opponents respect him? Not sure how anyone here can claim to know one way or another.
Quoted for truth

Just keeping it real. He's the leader of the team, the face of the franchise & the breaking down crying needing to be consoled on national TV thing just doesn't sit right with me.

Doesn't feel "swarm," feels more "good riddance we got rid of a top 5 LT because he's soft in the run game."
Because you're saying this, their will be posters saying you're calling CJ a bust

I see the situation much like you do. Though I have found out from someone in attendance that there was something that could be considered somewhat of a mitigating circumstance.

Immediately following his injury, Jordan did not simply sob or cry..............he was wailing at the top of his lungs for almost 10 minutes.............something that could be unnerving to someone not used to dealing with severe trauma.

I think that a leader should be able to manage his own emotional responses in a time of "crisis." At the same time,
I want to be fair by recognizing that this particular situation could be quite traumatizing to anyone present.

I feel for Jordan. Injuries have derailed the goals he obviously set for himself, and his emotions signify more than just the physical pain her was feeling in the moment. Being an empath, I too would have had trouble listening to him in that moment.

Hey, I may be old, but I'm not a fart.

Boy are twught from an early age that we arent allowed to show emotion. Then we age, go into the military, or have some other challenges in life. We take that emotion, and stuff it down. Eventually instead of crying, it can come out in very unhealthy ways, or we have PTSD or drug issues because we cant deal with and process our emotions. We as men are not allowed. If we were taught thst its ok to get emotional when appropriate, we might have less spousal violence, less guys walking into achools with ak47’s and a whole host of other situations. Letting it out isnt a sign of weakness. Its a sign of humanity. Cry it out…then get the troops together and lead them. You can be both human and a strong leader at the same time.

Budding Texans Star Calls Out Defense Ahead of Preseason Week 2 Matchup vs. Panthers

This Texans star wasn't pleased with what he saw from his unit at Thursday's joint practice.
ByJovan Alford|Aug 14, 2025

The Houston Texans are getting prepared for their second preseason game against the Carolina Panthers this weekend. However, before they hit the field at NRG Stadium on Saturday, the two teams held a joint practice on Thursday.
Joint practices are a great way for teams to get their starters a lot of work against another team without having to put them on the field in the preseason. The inclusion of joint practices allows teams like the Texans to evaluate other players on the 90-man roster during preseason games who are fighting for a job.

That said, the Texans aren’t taking this joint practice as a joke, as they got up against Carolina’s No.1s on both sides. In fact, Houston star pass rusher Will Anderson sent a message to his unit, which had some moments where they “were undisciplined.”

THE REST OF THE STORY

Thanks for posting. Even before you posted this, as I've previously commented, I have been very skeptical regarding his long recovery. In my research, I have now discovered what is really going on besides a mild second high ankle [remember, his injury was reported early on this offseason as an "ankle/foot."]. Well, he has been seeing a well-known sports medicine podiatrist in Florida for extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) which in the foot is almost exclusively used for treating plantar fasciitis. This technique is not typically employed until 3-6 months of other conservative therapies that have not resolved the problem. I am now not surprised at all by his inability to return to the field in the initially proposed timeline.. When he can return and for how long is an open question, especially at his age and history of multiple notoriously chronic lower limb injuries.
I did some more thinking about Mixon's situation. Once. you have plantar fasciitis, there is a commonly associated condition that develops......................Achilles tendinopathy. Since I know that the 2nd most common use of shock wave therapy of the foot is for Achilles tendinopathy, I dug a little deeper and found that Mixon's therapy was targeting both the Achilles tendon and the plantar fascia. This is not a very promising start for 2025.

The thing I find funniest is the old farts complaining about it are the same ones who gossip about it more than my aunty at a tea party.

I don’t know it comes off a lot like half-speak, fence sitting, whatever you want to call it.

I have yet to actually hear someone have this criticism actually say it with their chest. If you don’t think CJ is good enough. Say it.

Like I said before some of y’all sound more gossipy than aunties at a tea party.

I have no respect for criticisms that come with a foot half out the door. If you want to criticize someone’s leadership feel free to do so. But also back that ish up. If a QB is a bad leader then he’s a bad QB? Right? I think we would all agree with that. So I don’t think calling him a bad leader or even worse trying to talk out of both sides of your mouth around the issue when we all know what you mean but not having the stones to actually bet against the man. Says more about the people making the comments than it ever could about CJ.
