Houston Texans 2025 Training Camp

Yeah...Maybe if this was little league or middle school teammates would jeer and snicker about someone showing emotion after a teammate has a devastating injury, but I'd assume most people over the age of 15 understand that having people in your corner who show genuine concern for your health and well being is invaluable.

My guess is that the concern and emotion CJ shows for his guys when they have those types of injuries makes guys want to go even harder for him since they aren't 10 year olds.

To anyone mocking CJ, shame on you. I feel for Brevin Jordan and Tank Dell, even though I don’t know them personally. I can’t imagine working with them every day and seeing them fight to get healthy, only to end up injured during the season or, in this case, before it even begins. This could very well be the end of Jordan’s career. He was on a one-year prove-it deal, and now he’s hurt.

Terrible for those guys. Dell is a longshot to be the same again. Can he ever be the "get open in a phone booth" guy again? Seems impossible, but I'm rooting for him.

Brevin...man what a great athlete in a bigger body. Maybe he's a victim of being highly athletic. Some guys like that seem to be made of rubber, and like a rubber band...they snap more easily. A little different type of athlete, but Will Fuller was like that. Dude could not stay healthy to save his life. I think Brevin needs to consider rehabbing and then seeing if he wants to put his body through it knowing he's one play away again.

Might be time to move on but I know he wants to be great so bad. It's hard to turn that off. Good luck to him no matter what he chooses. Class act all the way. Thanks to Brevin for all his efforts to help bring a championship to this city. Best wishes to him on his rehab.

You asked Copilot...........but didn't ask me??? :)

No article ever mentioned which leg Brevin suffered his ACL in. But doing some "detective work" looking thru any pictures or videos I could find..................I came across this picture of him at the Texans last OTA.

Blowing up the left knee................those are arthrocopic ACL scars:

Confirmed.

Jordan injured the same knee he hurt last September against the Chicago Bears when he tore his anterior cruciate ligament and underwent surgery.

Jordan will get second opinions before deciding .............. Aaron Wilson

Also, when Pitre went down last season the D never missed a beat with Ward replacing him, he stepped into that role really well, it was once Ward went down and they ended up experimenting between a hobbled Christian Harris, rookie Kamari Lassiter and Devin White to take up whatever we call the 3rd linebacker/Nickel cornerback/3rd safety position in DeMeco’s scheme.

Now, this year I’d thought with the signing of CJGJ, moving Pitre to a franchise vet contract, and with Jaylen’s Smith & Reed drafted at DB, that Ward would become surplus to requirements but he may hang on as someone who could potentially sub in at 5 different positions because of the injury list specifically to the players who could potentially man that position if Pitre goes down, given its importance to what DeMeco wants to do.
Great post.

Ward will make the team if he doesn't screwup again. He's one of Demeco's guys and can play either S position or slot and the defense wont miss a beat.

It is exactly like that! You quote Jordan's history of injuries and then ignore Brooks history? After he was signed, I gave his history in college which was horrible. It continued his first year in the NFL and everyone is holding their breath to see when he gets hurt again. I would love to have both of them participating in good health, but that has not and almost certainly will not.

Every guy on this roster is a hit away from initiating an injury history.

Brooks is an absolute gamer when healthy and on the field. At the moment, he’s healthy….pull him aside and let him know he’s at the backend of the RB room and his best chance of making the team comes via ST’s and moving to the TE room.

Get him in there now, and let’s see what he could do with the opportunity. If he fails, the team has lost nothing. Caserio can still shop for a veteran TE that’s been cut or hasn’t been signed.

I’m just now reading these posts about this issue. WTF. Seems TC would be like being sequestered as a soldier in Quatar or wherever. You’re getting ready for war and you train with and go through all the emotional and physical strains together to successfully complete your mission, bonds are made and it hurts when they are suddenly broken. I’m still in contact with a couple of Coast Guard buddies from decades ago. It hurts me immensely to hear of some of their ordeals here years later as we grow older. CJ is a man’s man. He’s formed and feels true bonds with his band of brothers. A real man doesn’t have to fake it.

Is Brooks “ healthy” now? He looked healthy Saturday. Why hold your breath too see when he gets hurt again? Makes no sense. I see two questions with him. His health and what can he do to help this team. Why worry about his health if his true value hasn’t been fully explored? It’s preseason. Evaluate his game and body and determine a path. End of the day he’s a valuable roster spot one way or the other.
Well if he can stay in a game for more than just a few snaps, I guess we will be able to evaluate him. I think concern is a better word than worry and I do become concerned when a player even at the bottom of the roster list can't remain on the field. How many snaps was he on the field bin 2024?

Ah, yet Brooks is not a hit away from initiating a history. That happened years ago in college again and again. No one evaluates a player with no history of injury and one play away from an injury the same as he would evaluate a player with a long history of injury. Not sure where you're going with this?
I would rather give the opportunity to another player who has been able to stay on the field, unlike Brooks.

Which of the now five tight ends does Brooks beat out? We don't know because he can't stay on the field. How many snaps at tight in did he get last season or so far this preseason? It appears no one thinks he is a tight end. A feel good story that can't stay on field.

At best, he might have a shot as a special teamer only. He can lay a hit but that could just as easily injure him. I was right in 2024 when I said I doubted he would make the roster. I would love to be wrong this season.

Brooks isnt a traditional TE. Im not sure he is a natual pass catcher or has the speed…not sure what you guys think. But maybe a Y TE as an extra blocker, a FB, and spot duty RB. A jack of all trades, master of none type. Its a lot on his plate, but something like that is his only path to the 53. Its a longshot either way. Most likely, he is back on the PS.

I can't remember who I heard say it, but it was one of these media/youtube folks...

They said Brooks has been a standout on special teams. If that is the case, I'm not sure he has to be one of your top players at any given position.....I think him being someone that can take carries, catch the ball and block may be an added bonus and not what he primarily makes the team for....IF he makes the team.

Yeah I couldn’t see him outside this role…compete with Marks to up their game. Only thing is I’m not sure what the Texans want Marks’ role to be. Not sure what Brooks’ injury situation has been. My guess is Marks is the better receiver but I’ve seen Brooks blow up people blocking. He’s a willing blocker. To me these guys seem more valuable than Taylor.

He’s a man that shows his emotions nothing wrong with that. Better than bottling it up and beating up his wife and loved ones like a lot of nfl players wind up doing.
A QB that bonds with his team, fights for his team and stays loyal to the team. Watching how everyone gravitates to him and the way they all seem to share their own unique handshake, is magic. This isn't his team, it is his family. I'm not going to knock the young man for giving a sh....about his family.

True,

But with the injury thing I wish he was more like Mahomes (You didn't see him crying like a baby when Rice blew his ACL up) Brady/ Hurts/Montana/Elway etc...

OR!... I don't know, hear me out here... He reacted/cried like someone who cared about his teammates/coworkers/friends... And didn't just move on like a heartless POS to the next target... Not that I'm calling anyone a heartless POS, just making a stupid point, like this dumb argument calls for.

Jalen Reed has been sidelined since the beginning of the month with a "mild" knee sprain.................translation a Grade II tear............expect him to be out ~1 month (from injury}, They will probably be conservative on his return so that he can be available for week 1.

British Brooks is no TE. He IS a RB and he will be a third string sometimes short yardage on downs difference maker. Mark my words. He is not mostly a bench warmer who participates on ST's more often than not!

Agreed, he acted nothing like the guys who have rings that I listed above. BTW, staying focused in times of trouble or crisis doesn't make a person a heartless SOB. I want calm people around me in times of trouble, obviously you dont and good luck with that.

Your points are will taken. However if British Brooks can remain in mostly good health he will be a difference maker as a RB and not as TE of just some ST leader, I think he will be used in short yardage situations at least occasionally. I think their plan is to use him deep in in the red zone and occasionally on downs where the team is within three yards or less of a new set of downs.

Lets see how the team uses him against the Panthers in the next preseason game. I am guessing they will begrudgingly use him a little more than they did against the Vikings. Here's to hoping he can stay healthy and show us he belongs playing the same position he did in college. I don't think we can experiment with him and have him play a position like TE. What he has shown he is good at is RB and the team isn't all in on him playing FB he will play his natural position!

I think CJ will compose himself just fine going forward. If he spends too much time being overrun with emotion than you have a valid point and concern. I don't think now is the time to be overly concerned based on some raw emotions. Not every leader is cut from the same cloth, I can see where when it is time to perform CJ won't let his other teammates down. You can take that to the bank!

As I have said before, I'm extremely hopeful for the young man and agree with everything you say... if he can stay healthy. He needs to get on the field and play every snap they will give him at 100% and not worry about his future.
