Texans random thought of the day

Will everyone be as concerned if Nick selects Kevin Banks at 25 and trades up for Zabel in round 1 then in 2026 includes the 2 and 4 from Commanders to again give us two round ones? Hmmm
Grey Zabel started all 2024 at left tackle with 98.1 rating. 86.5 run block with 1 sack allowed and 2 QB hits. The reviews after Senior Bowl were all positive. Several mocks have him now going at 1.25 or slightly thereafter. No reason to waste picks trading up so take him there! Could he be LT despite 32 inch arms.. an outlier? Fisher at LT and Zabel at right?

Are those ratings really valid? Against what caliber of players that North Dakata State played against?

That is what I have been dealing with up until the Senior Bowl. the kid played great against the best of the seniors. Of course that's not the NFL yet when I evaluate the NCAA level 2 players I look for overwhelming abilities and or stats. This guy brings it.
Edit. A similar guy would be Charles Grant of William and Mary but he can basically play left tackle only.

I doubt the NFL followed or watched the Texans as closely as this board did. I think we have the edge. All the NFL is probably looking at are his stats and not his actual play on the field.
You dont think Peters/Quinn watched a lot of Tunsil's tape before they traded for Tunsil?

Since George Foreman just died, can we now use the statement of "you can get a George Foreman grill and a bag of chips for that guy"?

Since Danielle Hunter may only be here for this coming season, it's very possible Texans might target a promising young buck to replace him in '26.
There are some nice prospects in the first couple rounds of this coming draft.
Taking one now and cycling him in to blood him would make a lot of sense - gives you time to assess him over the season.

I'm thinking since they restructured him that he will be on Kirby for 2 yrs.

I find it hard to watch Wilson on podcasts..................he reads everything mechanically..............looking at his script, not the camera. He would do well to keep his presentations in written article form.

Anyone else hearing chatter about Pitre being traded?
I have read several articles suggesting that he is the only player left that can bring something in return and be fairly easily replaced. These however are just the normal predictions that we see annually.

What are the Texans possibly getting for an injured safety on an expiring contract? 6th or 7th round pick? Can anyone produce a link for the trade possibility?

OK, I found this article regarding a potential Pitre trade on clutchpoints.com.

One ideal trade partner could be the Minnesota Vikings. That's a team looking to accelerate its rebuild. Houston could send Pitre, along with a mid-round pick, to Minnesota in exchange for an extra second-round selection in the upcoming draft.

Here's the deal. The Vikings don't currently have a 2nd round pick. They traded it to the Texans last year to move back into the 1st round. And the Texans traded that pick to the Bills for Stefon Diggs. So, sometimes chatter is just chatter.

It wouldn't be hard off of a partial pec tear. It's not like Pitre blew out his ACL or achilles.
Most reports refer to a partial pectoralis tear implying that it was a muscle tear. His partial pec tear was of his tendon, thus requiring surgery to ensure that his recovery is most reliable. Studies have shown that return to sport was at a mean 6.1 ± 1.7 months post surgery, of which 74% (95/128) successfully returned to their preinjury level of sport. As a FS, his arm will commonly be raised over his head to defend passes...........this places him at high risk for his arm to be pulled back with extreme stress on the pec. Similar stress will be placed on his pec when tackling (a similar maneuver occurred due to "friendly fire" that caused his injury in the first place. One thing for sure..........he better learn to not arm tackle, unfortunately a common Pitre technique heretofore.

Trade talks involving Pitre has only been theoretical. His injury will play into if other teams are interested...........or if the Texans are willing to extend him with what would promise to be another blockbuster chunk of money.

Yes, there's nothing of substance in any of those articles. The pressure to create content on these websites must be high. It seems like these articles are written by someone high, anyway.

There is not supposed to be anything substantive in these type articles. It's just conjecture and happens every year about this time and we all know it. If one of us don't like it all we have to do is not read it.

We know Nick restructured Autry 's contract to add approximately $4 million to the cap. OTC ~$15 m now.
Any thoughts on what he's going to do with it? I really don't see anybody else in free agency and no other pressing contracts to extend.

Former Texan DB Matt Stevens has passed away at the age of 51.

HOUSTON - Several people who buy season tickets to Houston Texans games are suing the team for more than $1 million, claiming the team abruptly changed its policies, charging them more than other season ticket holders.

I have seen a few articles on this. I think what it is mainly, is how to get more draft capital. I haven't seen any that say a team would trade WR "X" for Jalen type thing. I have seen almost as many articles about Olave coming to the team... So, likely all chatter
