I saw but my question was in regards to spending the first round pick on Simmons.
I'll need to see proof before I totally believe and spend a 1st round pickSimmons will still be a RD1 pick b/c of his body of work up to the time of injury. This type of injury is no longer a career ender with a good repair and rehab.
Mostly seen Skattebo in the 3rd. I would say RB6 or RB7 off the board. What round do you guys think Cam Skatte bo will go?
He sure looked good in college. Don’t know how that will carry over to the next level..Mostly seen Skattebo in the 3rd. I would say RB6 or RB7 off the board.
Wouldn’t mind giving him a shot to spell Joe but we have greater needs- OL, OL, OL…He sure looked good in college. Don’t know how that will carry over to the next level..
I think he is a option in 4th or 5th howevr again his 317/8 arm lenght concers me
This is a guy I’m extremely interested in for our interior
He's great in a gap scheme, powerful mauler.

Tell me why he is better than Josh Simmons or Josh Conerly especially without having to use extra pics to get them?I feling vibs that we trade up to get Kevin Banks that can start day one
HEIGHT

WEIGHT
315 lbs

We no longer have a round 4.. would he be there in 5?I think he is a option in 4th or 5th howevr again his 317/8 arm lenght concers me
As much as we all want him to make a perfect recovery, Simmons injury is still a question; and carries with it some added risk. The equation becomes Banks plus the cost of getting him versus Simmons minus the injury.Tell me why he is better than Josh Simmons or Josh Conerly especially without having to use extra pics to get them?
Somehow I'm hoping Caserio ends up coming out of this draft with these guys even if it means trading future picks. In this scenario, Simmons LT / Howard LG / Patterson C / Tomlinson RG / Fisher RT to give us a balance of youth and vets with the Vets on each side of the younger guys. Jones as the swing Tackle / Guard. We also could do Simmons / Juice / Patterson / Tomlinson / Howard with Fisher as swing and Jones as Guard to push Juice. Last option is Howard / Simmons / Patterson / Tomlinson or Juice / Fisher or Simmons if we want to see what Howard has at LT. Jones and Juice or Jones and Tomlinson first reserves.
I want to see Jones ready to go at guard by next year. Fisher and Simmons tackles for 5+ years. Patterson can cement his spot or lose it after this year - his play determines if we look center next year in FA or draft. RG / LG will be open to Howard (depending on play and contract moves and Jones). Best case we have 4 positions locked up with Simmons / Jones / Patterson / Fisher. Worst case we have 2 locked up with room for growth from Patterson / Juice / Jones and our tackles are set. But we need to stop retreading olineman and constantly draft 2+ in rounds 1 through 4 until it’s right. With big deals coming up for our playmaking positions - we need that cap freed up from the offensive line and those guys on rookie deals.
They need to get a TE that can block if they want the OL to improve. Hope you're wrong about Banks, but you're probably going to be right.I have a funny feeling Banks is going to go higher than we expect. IMO he’s that good and I feel like a trade up will happen that is NOT Houston. I still think Houston rolls with Schultz / Stover / Jordan for one more year. I do not see TE on the menu but I could be wrong.
Can I interest you in Jackosn Hawes? They need to get a TE that can block if they want the OL to improve. Hope you're wrong about Banks, but you're probably going to be right.

Like this former Ivy Leaguer with hands of stone. Pencil him in for a 7th rounder. Can I interest you in Jackosn Hawes?
Yeah he's an upgrade, but I really want the TE of the future that can both block and is a receiving threat. There are only 4 of those guys in this draft that fit this profile IMHO, Although I would be very happy with Hawes in the 5th.Can I interest you in Jackosn Hawes?
Looked like he had good hands at the Sr. Bowl. Of course they timed his 40 with a sun dial.I think they will adda blocking TE day 3.

I’ve heard several draft analysts say that Banks will go later than expected, but I have a hard time seeing him get past Miami at 13.I'm not sure Banks goes that high (all Texas school guys get a significant bump around these parts), but I would bet on Will Campbell sliding some and I'd be all for trading up for him.
I've got Membou as the first OT off the board
I think he goes in the 4-5th roundI think they will adda blocking TE day 3.

I dont trust Simmons knee, especially after seeing how Howard performed after his torn patellar injury.Tell me why he is better than Josh Simmons or Josh Conerly especially without having to use extra pics to get them?
Not a fan of Williams.^ I'd pay the price for any of Membou, Banks or Campbell. Simmons injury scares me and I don't think Conerly is the guy.
Maybe Williams or Ersey.
Williams is way too raw and commits too many penalties. He’s fine for a developmental spot on a team, but I wouldn’t draft him for us.^ I'd pay the price for any of Membou, Banks or Campbell. Simmons injury scares me and I don't think Conerly is the guy.

I think Membou is top 10. We’re not moving up that much.^ I'd pay the price for any of Membou, Banks or Campbell. Simmons injury scares me and I don't think Conerly is the guy.

Some might have Banks at OG due to his less than 34" arms. I do think the team that drafts him will project Banks at OT.I’ve heard several draft analysts say that Banks will go later than expected, but I have a hard time seeing him get past Miami at 13.
Why? When do blocking TEs go that high? Most are UDFAs.I think he goes in the 4-5th round
If Nick can get a deal he is comfortable with, I hope he does it. I'd easily give up next year's 1 for Membou (not saying that is all it would cost).I think Membou is top 10. We’re not moving up that much.

Last year Tip Riemann got drafted in the 3rd by the cardinals and he was a blocking TEWhy? When do blocking TEs go that high? Most are UDFAs.
Tip is an inch taller, 20 lbs heavier, longer arms, bigger hands and probably still more athletic than Hawes. The traits are certainly more there with Tip than Hawes. The only thing Hawes might do better than Riemann is block in the run game.Last year Tip Riemann got drafted in the 3rd by the cardinals and he was a blocking TE
Right. Over 400 snaps and 7 targets makes one a blocking TE. But that's an outlier, right. The Lions Brock Wright was an UDFA. I just can't think of modern NFL offenses needing to draft blocking TEs in the mid rounds very often.Last year Tip Riemann got drafted in the 3rd by the cardinals and he was a blocking TE
He performed a 99% rating in pass protection over his college career and now sliding on the big board due to 40ys 5.16 can be taken at our #25. It is only my opion that he is the better of the group and can start day one as he has a proven record against top competition. His physical measurments are excellent and his over all score is 82 with a 6.43 grade. I would not be disappoined in Simmons or Connerly as well so as the date nears my opion may change.Tell me why he is better than Josh Simmons or Josh Conerly especially without having to use extra pics to get them?
Tip can catch and is pretty fast too. I had him mocked to the Texans in the 5th last yr.Last year Tip Riemann got drafted in the 3rd by the cardinals and he was a blocking TE
Tip's a good player and he's stuck behind McBride.Right. Over 400 snaps and 7 targets makes one a blocking TE. But that's an outlier, right. The Lions Brock Wright was an UDFA. I just can't think of modern NFL offenses needing to draft blocking TEs in the mid rounds very often.
Nope, never said he was soft but I did wish that he played more aggressively and powerfully. Simmons in my opinion is more of a power type than a technician while Conerly is a mixture of both. As with all players moving to the NFL, both need to increase power with better hand placement.I dont trust Simmons knee, especially after seeing how Howard performed after his torn patellar injury.
Were you one of the guys complaining about Tunsil being soft? If so, Tunsil looks like Andrew Whitworth compared to Conerly. To get a true franchise LT on a cheap contract, Caserio's going to have to pay the price.
If Caserio's going to go cheap at LT, then I hope he drafts Jack Nelson in rd 2. That guys not soft.
If banks is there at 25 I would be surprised. I am not against him but I would not trade up for him.He performed a 99% rating in pass protection over his college career and now sliding on the big board due to 40ys 5.16 can be taken at our #25. I was looking at Pierce yesterday and agree with you. Not sure he is a starter this year though.I looked at every LT prospect once again. The one I’ve been overlooking:
LT- Hollin Pierce (Rutgers / 6-8 @ 341 lbs and 36” Arms) Big naturally strong Tackle who plays the position with a finishers attitude. I don’t think he needs to remain 341 lbs to play the position. I’d try to get his playing weight into the 325-330 lb range to help improve his speed. Those 36” arms are hard to look past….even harder is his ability to play clean and free of penalty flags. He’d arrive in camp healthy and ready to play. I think the Texans could work with that.

Connelly, in a way I hope Caserio drafts him just to see the MB's reaction to his soft play. I wouldn't spend the draft capital to move up to draft Simmons, after seeing how Howard's performed after the same injury, I would pass.Nope, never said he was soft but I did wish that he played more aggressively and powerfully. I’m not saying that he will go mid round, but I do think he gets drafted in the 5-6th range.Right. Over 400 snaps and 7 targets makes one a blocking TE. But that's an outlier, right. Conerly soft? I have read many evaluations of him and not one have said that word.Connelly, in a way I hope Caserio drafts him just to see the MB's reaction to his soft play. I agree that I haven’t seen that description of him either. The most often complaint I’ve seen is the need to improve his play strength (which most rookies do).Conerly soft? I have read many evaluations of him and not one have said that word.
