Did picking up Dionte hurt the Texans org in any way?It should have been obvious that Johnson was a chronic malcontent................something that you don't want to insert as an "experiment".............especially during the playoffs.
Which option didn't come with a predictably poor outcome? Odell?Desperation should not lead to entirely predicable poor outcome.
As soon as I heard Mixon start talking about recruiting my first thought was Tee Higgins. He would be a nice #2 WR opposite Nico. Please get it done for us, Mixon!!

It didn't affect the team at all.As far as Diontae Johnson, I would not have wanted to potentially poison the team with his chronic negativity during the important playoffs.
These are the type of players usually vying for a PS spot. But who is most likely to carve out a roster spot? I pick the DL Byrd and Peevy based solely on DeMeco’s track record at the position.![]()
Texans sign 11 players to reserve/future deals entering 2025 offseason
The Houston Texans will have at least 11 players back in 2025 as part of their 90-man roster. Following their 23-14 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, Houston inked deals with multiple players on a reserve/futures contract. This means thetexanswire.usatoday.com

Yeah, I mean they lost without him, if they lost with him would it have really mattered? If they had won and he contributed to the win would it have mattered?I'd have kept him around for one more week if it was possible.
Yeast has a chance to make the team. He actually played on defense against the Inbreds and is said to be a good ST's guy. These are the type of players usually vying for a PS spot. Although i’d like to see Jawhar Jordan or JJ Taylor push for a roster spot. I think Jordan in particular had a shot if he didn’t get injured during preseason.
Anthony Averett is the most accomplished player on this list given college accolades (4th round pick 2x national champion) and time as starter for Ravens (3 ints and 11 pds in 2021). But he has dealt with injuries since, is 30 and been on and off NFL practice squads when not in the training room. Signed to Texans PS January 6 and now invited to camp.

Agreed. 9 starts for the Rams in 2023. Had the missed play that allowed a td against Titans but even Bullock did something similar in the playoffs so i’m not damning his evaluation on one play.Yeast has a chance to make the team. Yep, at least he was where he was supposed to be and I doubt he lets that happen again.Agreed. 9 starts for the Rams in 2023. Had the missed play that allowed a td against Titans but even Bullock did something similar in the playoffs so i’m not damning his evaluation on one play.
Maybe he can beat out a guy like MJ Stewart for a spot and develop.
Not an expert on how this works, but isn't there a different # of players that count against the cap during the season vs offseason? Maybe that's what happened?Any new transactions of players that I have missed? I just found out our salary cap for 2025 has dropped from approximately 10 million to 1.8 million approximately. That is a significant amount of money and I don't recall that much going to anyone even future contracts would not total that.
No. I always use the cap space for the top 51 players. That way you do not have to worry about future deals or players signed without the contract info known. The major difference between over the cap and spot rack is over the cap usually does not include cap hits for rookie pool. Not an expert on how this works, but isn't there a different # of players that count against the cap during the season vs offseason? That could have been us
Maybe Nick looked how many guys he would lose vs sign and would not get a pickThat could have been us

Man I wish Davis was a Texan.
I wonder why hop deleted the post?DeAndre Hopkins tweets, deletes, “I’m not done yet”

In his twelfth NFL season, Chiefs receiver DeAndre Hopkins made it to his first Super Bowl. As Hopkins has acknowledged, he didn’t play his best game.
On third-and-11late in the first half, quarterback Patrick Mahomes rolled right, bought time, and delivered an accurate throw to Hopkins. He had plenty of green grass in front of him. But he made an awkward adjustment and dropped the ball (to the dismay of teammate Chris Jones).
Since the game, Hopkins tweeted, “Don’t know what you heard but I’m not done yet.” He later deleted it.
The retirement talk came from a fake Adam Schefter account, which asserted that Chiefs coach Andy Reid told reporters that Hopkins informed the team of his intent to retire.
The Chiefs traded for Hopkins during the season, sending a conditional fifth-round pick to the Titans.
Hopkins will be a free agent next month, for the first time in his career. Whether he returns to the Chiefs or joins another team remains to be seen.
Does this mean Weeks is done?!?!The Texans have signed long snapper Tucker Addington to reserve-future deal.
Weeks is a FA. He has been released several times in the recent past..................and always brought back. Don't be surprised if history repeats itself. If Weeks wants to come back after being our LS for ~the last 15 years, it is probably his for the asking..............his relatively modest salary will for sure not be a deterrent.Does this mean Weeks is done?!?!
Weeks is 39 years old, making him the older LS in the League. From what I am hearing, he wants to have a new contract and remain with the Texans.Jon Weeks, the only player to have played in every playoff game the Texans have ever had, has a chance to make history this coming season.
L.P. Ladouceur, long snapper for the Cowboys for 16 years, currently holds the NFL record for most consecutive games played by a long snapper in both regular season (253) and regular season plus playoffs (262). Weeks is at 244 and 258 respectively. He breaks the regular season record in game 10 this year, and he breaks the RS+playoffs in game 5.
He can also play outside some. The former Jags WR, now traded to the Texans will take Tanks place at the slot.
Absolutely beautiful![]()
Sheldon Rankins agrees to one-year deal with Texans
The Texans are bringing back a familiar face for the 2025 season.www.nbcsports.com
I expected this and going to leave it up to Demeco. 7 million is a lot more than I would have given but hopefully he will earn it.![]()

Berrios can return both punts and kickoffs. All Pro kick returner in 2021 with Jets. Tore ACL on 10/20/24 vs Colts.
Kind of a fan of this
$5 million is a good deal for Texans.Derek Barnett coming back for 2025.
Only played 19 defensive snaps in 2 years in Denver. Core special teamer. for 2 year, $7 million.Tremon Smith is returning to Houston.
I didn't think the special teams units were that bad last year, but safe to say they just got a lot better today.Only played 19 defensive snaps in 2 years in Denver. Core special teamer. for 2 year, $7 million.
They did a good job getting Rankins/Barnett back and taking a cheap flier on Berrios.Best free agent deals are sometimes the late ones on bargain basement prices.

Risky move. Hopefully Caserio can draft some serious talent with the picks he gets.
We know the OL was never good even though Tunsil was really good at one thing (shutting down edge rushers). OL needs to work together and that never happened with Tunsil as the captain.Risky move. Hopefully Caserio can draft some serious talent with the picks he gets.
I would expect a disappointing return this season from ACL rupture.Berrios can return both punts and kickoffs. All Pro kick returner in 2021 with Jets. Tore ACL on 10/20/24 vs Colts.
