Undisciplined

I watched the play. He should have slid faster. Since we’re into pointing fingers.
I didn’t see anything INTENTIONAL in the play. Intentional, like picking up someone after the whistle is blown and throwing him to the ground intentional. That’s was what used to be the requirement for suspensions. But since the NFL is apparently not immune to the woke mind virus, it’s no longer the case. I’ve never seen such a thoughtless overreaction.
I 100% agree. I had to rewatch it and analyze the play. Watching it in real time makes Azeez seem guilty. Trevor took a gamble and wanted the first down. Azeez recognized it and gets paid millions to prevent that. That’s on Trevor

You don’t hit a sliding QB. Period. That’s the rule. All of this other stuff is just excuses for a rule that has been in place and players know not to do.

Helmet taps?!?!?! Man… after seeing AR5 do it and now yall discussing it as an option to notify refs. Please… lewve it alone. It means “SLOW DOWN, COP AHEAD”
If it works on a motorcycle perhaps it will work on a football field?

The only really bad thing in there is the hit on Lawrence, the rest are all plays that happen all the time.

Punish him for the hit, sure, but calling to have him cut from the team is way overboard.
An ejection would have occurred in the Chicago game for sideline punch if the ref saw it. That would make this #2. Which is why it wasn’t smart for Caserio to go on his rant today.

The other team protected their QB like any team should do. Stroud gets sacked and guys don’t help him up.
After the hit on Trey it was a Jag player who decided to escalate the situation by attacking and pounding Al SH. That does not help and let the officials referees rules etc attend to the matter. But then it became a brawl which does not help the situation. Very non professional lacking discipline for all to see. All that happened after the hit was unfortunately senseless anger management that only made things worse.

The nfl needs to stop allowing quarterbacks to fake slide or late slide in order to gain yardage and confuse the defenders on if the quarterback is sliding or not. Trevor would still be playing if the nfl weaponized qb slide. It’s unfair to the defense to have to play the guessing game. late slide, fake slide, or acting like you’re gonna go out of bounds and then skirting forward for a few more yards; these all need to be 15 yard penalties against the offense. That’s how you prevent these types of hits, it’s simple

I think we need to go back to the way it used to be. Run with the ball… it’s open season. Period.

Trevor didn’t fake slide. I don’t really recall him doing that at all really in his career . If the defender is confused then maybe they didn’t read the scouting report. Mahomes does it a lot. And you know what? It’s a tactic. It’s not against the rules is it.

Lots of hypocrisy and gaslighting in this thread. If a LB launched his full weight and used forearms like a club on CJ, the chatter here would be a 180. At least own your hypocrisy. And tell us your gaslighting instead of pretending.

As to the punishment, it’s well-deserved and appropriate. It’s two things - multiple repeat offender and the launch/use of forearms with no attempt to pull off or lessen the hit. In fact it was the exact opposite. Let’s be real - he meant to deliver that blow. He’s just an an incredibly stupid undisciplined player. I already stated what I would do - he would be looking for work elsewhere.

Instead, Jolly St. Nick comes in and does a drive by gaslighting and fake outrage episode. I never knew he could act. There appears to be a growing culture of entitlement over on Kirby. Not only not holding guys/coaches accountable, but defending them,

And we wonder why this team will still be wandering the desert for the next 40 years like the Israelites. When the standard is set low, you get a low standard. It’s simple math. Wash - Rinse - Repeat
Dont count me in this group. I'm in the group that says a QB should be treated like every other player on the field and when they run they choose to do so at their own peril. But hey, that's just me and why I dont have an issue with Al.

Caserio was correct 3 games is very excessive for a guy that's never been kicked out of a game, much less had a previous suspension. Meanwhile if he was still healthy Rice would still be playing despite seriously injuring citizens. SMH

This is God'ells woke NFL we're talking about.

This is what happens when a feminine man (Lawyer) runs a violent sport. Of course the owners dont care because they're making money hand over fist.

What's the history of the guy? Azeez the sneeze has receipts going back to SF. The Titans let him walk for a reason. He's a loose cannon. Do we really want a guy like this? You know he's going to now be looked at by every ref. You can say it's wrong, but it's human nature. He won't be able to snap a finger at a guy without a flag being pulled.

What's infuriating is DeMeco and St. Nicky the tricky defending it, and blaming the QB? You don't think the NFL/Refs see and hear that? Pathetic responses from those two. Pissed at both.

Look at the photo I linked above.
He's never been kicked out of a game or suspended before, so I dont know what you're talking about. Nick just pointed out facts, but those facts dont support your narrative.

Look…. Treat the QB like a damn RB/WR when he/she (because Sunshine, you never know…. It’s a joke fellas) leaves the pocket and I guarantee those divas will get their arse OB or just fall the hell down (unless you’re Josh Allen). Then we don’t have this problem!!

Just ban sliding.

Overregulation to fix overregulation. The way of the world.

If it's gonna be a problem with these ***** ass rules and flopping soccer/basketball ginobili ass quarterbacks and players "dirty hits" then just get rid of em entirely.

Or just revert back to the way things were. But that's not happening. So just get rid of them.

Dirty player, stupid player, whatever. He cannot control himself on the field.

OK, so what now? Picket in front of NRG? The Texans back him, your opinion doesn't matter.

And plenty of players do it damn near every week. And there's plenty who've done it on multiple occasions. Doesn't make any of them dirty. Football isn’t something you throw rose petals around and sing kumbaya. It’s a violent game that everyone just tries to survive to the next game. Doesn’t mean there’s not assholes out there doing dirty shit. It also doesn’t mean that everyone who plays aggressive is dirty. You don’t know Azeez, aren’t with him everyday or any of that. You’re just some whiny fan that doesn’t have a clue what it’s like to be on an NFL field. None of us do.

You’ve made 7,000 posts about it now. Don’t know what it is you’re trying to accomplish doing so. A lot of passion and energy for something you can’t control or change. A shame people don't have that same juice for shit that actually matters. ******* move on. Go back to telling us how much Stroud sucks or something.

Rule 7, Section 2 of the NFL Rulebook describe a "Dead Ball."

Article 1 describes when an official shall declare the ball dead. Letter (d) states:

When a runner declares himself down by sliding feet first on the ground. The ball is dead the instant the runner touches the ground with anything other than his hands or his feet;
Additionally, a note states:

Defenders are required to treat a sliding runner as they would a runner who is down by contact.
A defender must pull up when a runner begins a feet-first slide. This does not mean that all contact by a defender is illegal. If a defender has already committed himself, and the contact is unavoidable, it is not a foul unless the defender commits some other act, such as helmet-to-helmet contact or by driving his forearm or shoulder into the head or neck are of the runner.

Additionally, a note states:

It looks good on paper but sometimes there is a human element to it that isn’t factored in. That can be said for all occupations.

Azeez led with his elbow. That is his fault. Goldilocks slid too late and didn’t get low. That’s his fault. QBs have been trying to fake out defenses with fake slides and faking running out of bounds. That’s a league problem.

Everyone was expecting one game suspension.

No one was expecting three. No one was expecting the league to get personal in an unprofessional way.

If the league cared about the health of the players they wouldn’t schedule 3 games in 11 games. - Steph Stadley.

If the league was consistent in discipline there wouldn’t be as much an issue. - Nick Caserio.

Exactly right, it was a bang bang play, nobody here knows his true intent, character, or heart despite how they feel.

And by bang bang I mean, when you are looking at it in slow motion it looks like more time went by before he launches especially from the side angel. From the back angle he launches after the QB starts the slide but you can see exactly when both make their respective moves. It would be interesting to know in real time how much time went by before he launches after the slide, my guess it's only a couple of a hundredths of a second. I am not making excuses but it is not easy for a defender to make that type of adjustment every time. The optics are horrible from the side angle because he comes in from out of frame. It is what it is, he was flagged and will be fined.
Brady blamed Goldy Locks for waiting until the last second to get down.

Additionally, a note states:

That's been my entire point. The use of the forearm like a billy club to the head is what took this from, at worst, a simple 15-yard penalty to a cheap shot, a brawl, and a three-game (so far) suspension.

We can debate the slide rules, the hits that occur and all of that. To me, using a wrapped forearm like a club is completely 100% not up for debate. That's over the top, a cheap shot and in a best case should be cause for immediate ejection and a large fine. In this case, he's got history and that's what the NFL is saying in it's suspension. Azeez needs to learn to play with the other kids in the sandbox, or he needs a new occupation. Simple as that.

That guy complained to the refs all of the time. He is towing a line now.

Is he towing the same line as Rogers? Because Rogers is an active NFL QB. Brady is an analyst.

What is this line and why are they towing it?

Rogers says Azeez isn’t dirty. Is a thumper. Makes fun of Azeez’s “rap sheet.” Doesn’t think it’s egregious. Says the game lacks physicality.
