Week 7 GameDay Thread: The Greenbay Packers!

How many players are down on this team? Yet they battled their arses off. This team is not perfect, to be sure. But let's keep the criticism in perspective. If I never watched a game and just read the threads, I would think this team is 2-5.
My issue with your post is the word -'they'. Actually, some did not.

Bobby better leave his ego at the door moving forward. “Pride goeth before the fall”.
Cal should be on the phone with him, and tell him if he ever calls another game like he did today that he should go ahead and pack his bags.
Zero adjustments were made…
Same play formations over and over again…
This is the NFL Bobby. Don’t take the bait. Get it together!!!

I had no problems with the defense today, they found valiantly today and I am encouraged they will keep us in games all season long. But I have significant concerns regarding our offense. They didn’t do their part today again and I hope that doesn’t continue. I am quite hopeful getting Nico back changes things on offense for us. But I agree with you, some of the posts today were as extreme as I have seen.

Alexander was the problem. I'm not worried about disciplining Diggs.
If I am Demeco, 1st thing Monday morning, Diggs is in my office and he better have a damn good explanation for that distraction. “Well they started it first” is not good enough.

Sorry I don’t mean to be harping on this, but we are trying to achieve something this organization has never been close to. We need laser focus by everybody. We got this guy hoping he could help get us there, but today, on and off the field, he didn’t do that.

If I’m Meco I’m bringing the Oline coach and Bobby in and saying “what the actual *>**!?”
You guys are getting beat like a drum and what are you gonna do about it?
We have a top 5 or 10 QB and you guys are sending him to an early grave! Wtf?? Oh and by the way, sit Howard at the end of the bench and let Fischer play. He’s better anyway!”

Respectfully Disagree, you need to nip this in the bud and can’t just ignore it. Otherwise it can become a a reoccurring problem, a distraction, and you get labeled as a hothead that opposing teams can use to their advantage. A team captain should be held to a higher standard, not a lower standard. I wonder if some of his teammates are pissed at him for fueling up the opponent, no less on their home field.
Problem with prematurely judging the situation and "holding people to a higher standard" are:

1- Are you able to obtain those higher standards yourself or are you imposing on another expectations you yourself can not obtain. Such as to ALWAYS under every circumstance keep your emotions in check. Not 99.999% of the time but no matter what 100%?. If not, one should offer grace to those that also do not maintain it 100% but rather focus on the 99.999% forgive the misstep and move on.

2- If you do NOT offer that grace, regardless of the reason for their actions, even if understandable or justifiable. Your"diva/trouble maker" assumption becomes a self fulfilled prophecy by you simply not extending forgiveness for a mistake. Who wants to work for someone that NEVER forgives your mistakes? Marriages fail when there is no grace for mistakes.... how much more would a business/emplyee relationship fail if grace not extended?

3- If you hold people to higher expectations without extension of grace fir mistakes.... how willing do you think current players will want to stay with your team or sign up to be flogged for every mistake?

4- Only bad patterns need to be "nipped" a one off event does not make a pattern. Yes, he has a history, but until he displays that history in a Texans jersey as a pattern... the man has a clean slate in my mind... again... because you offer people grace to make mistakes and learn from them.... if you are so painfully rigid that "mistakes aren't tolerated" then even your "not problem players" will eventually become a problem.

While I agree with almost everything you stated in your entire post, I just want to comment on this part. This is not an isolated/one off event between Diggs and Alexander who have a history of more than 2 incidents...today Diggs stated that he will never be the bigger man in a situation like this. I just hope it doesn't result in something negative.

And everyone hated Innegan.

We dont play GB often so if his problem is tied to Alexander then Im going to side with Diggs say Alexander is a douche and have my players back. Life goes on.

Because how often has he done this in a Texans jersey?

That is highly debatable and far from fact that only bad patterns need to nipped in the bud. It like with a child doing something wrong. As a parent you can choose to ignore and wait to see if it happens again or you can have a talk with your kid and make sure they know it is not to happen again. And that is, at the very least, what I hope Demeco does with Diggs. You acknowledge yourself, he has a pattern of doing this in the NFL. At least let’s not reward bad behavior by making him a team captain. That C across your chest should mean something.

No one should be complaining about the defense today, they got 3 turnovers and held this high octane offense enough times to get us the win.
The game would have been won if they forced a punt to end the game.

They could have won the game. If we were up by 5 & Cj threw a pick 6, or Metchie fumbled a ball that was returned for a TD, would we not be complaining about them in particular?

Regardless how the offense played I have no doubt we'd have won that game if Azeez & Lassiter played today.

With Hutchinson's injury i don't think anyone on our schedule can get after our QB the way Greenbay did. So I'm not worried about DeMeco or Slowick or our offense or our defense. We're not going to win 16 games. I can live with that.

I think Hewitt played great, I don't think Lassiter would have made an impact, he gives up just as big of plays as any other corner on this team.

Sure, if they got the stop in the end they would have won the game, but they certainly are not the reason we lost today. The offense is. Specifically the OL and play calling.

The tape is out on this offense with good teams, show blitz, confuse the OL, run stunts, and delayed blitzes, and it's over for us. Slowik hasn't adjusted once.

Diggs was made a captain before I saw any evidence of bad behavior and I'm not convinced that I've seen any today or this season.

How many of those players are on the OL? The organization put this group together. Drafted and signed them. They aren’t getting it done and hsve had issues all season.

The Dline just needs to run simple stunts and this Oline is confused AF!!! Haven’t picked up one this year that I can remeber

There was no one "reason" we lost the game. The offense gave the defense a lead with a little more than a minute left in the game. The offense struggled, they looked ugly, but they did "enough" to win.

Is it just me our have the Texans games been extremely boring this year? I mean the offense is just so boring, no one is ever fired up and they often times look uninspired like they don't want to be there. Don't get me wrong I look like that at my job as well, but I don't make millions and get 5 month vacations every year...

Trying to understand what happened and extending grace is different than letting anarchy reign.

You are jumping to the conclusion that Diggs is a diva here and should be treated as such without any form of evidence other than your opinion from what you saw and his history. We are NOT his previous teams and people can change, unless you do not offer them the opportunity to grow and do so by being painfully rigid and not letting them move beyond their past.

I’m sure I will understand this tomorrow, but right now after several Ol Fashioned’s it just sounds beautiful!
Well said… I think!

Again that is your opinion on how you choose to judge people. I sure hope you understand that some of us do choose to take into account how a player behaved on other teams when they have a initial questionable bad behavior. Why do you think teams do background checks before drafting a player. Often times they won’t give someone a second chance because it is a red flag to high of a risk. You absolutely should take into account how someone behaved in the past before signing them. Look, all I am saying is, this is NOT how a team captain should be behaving. I was fine signing him, but not fine he was ever made team captain because I dont think he deserved to be team Captain. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

You take their past into account BEFORE you hire them absolutely.

Once you decide to employ said player however... THAT is when you wipe the slate clean and dont judge them based on their past.

IF you hold someone you're dating accountable for how they treated everyone in their past relationships or you are in a position to employ people and hold them accountable for they treated their employeers before you. I feel bad for those people.

Look at their past during the interview process absolutely, don't find them automatically guilty once you've decided to go with that person.

Personal relationships and business relationships share a lot of the same commonalities to be successful and both need grace.

If you decide not to date someone cause they cheated on everyone they dated. Thats wise.

IF you decide not to hire the person that never shows up and is unreliable. Again, thats wise.

But once you DO and have chosen to take a chance with that person.... wise or not. You wipe the slate clean and offer them the chance to grow and change OR to show you they have not changed. And IMO a one off (in a Texans jersey) does not say he is a diva.

He is a Texan now, like it or not. Crying about who he was does nothing but encourage him to become the problem you are expecting him to be

He wore white gloves last week to go with the Patriots red jerseys

You want McNair to take over Demecos job as HC ?

Boring in the sense that I have not seen 4 quarters of good execution in any of them, not boring in that all but two have been really close and came down to the last few seconds.

To be fair, have we ever REALLY seen good execution for 4 qtrs?

Maybe its cause Im old but I can't remember it.... and it feels like a constant gripe Ive had ever since I could remember.

You probably have something there...This year's Texans have figured out how to play some winning football (5-2) without playing what looks like good football consistently...don't know if better said or not

Oh people can definitely change and you should you forgive but not forget. I was hopeful he would change once he became a Texan, but what I saw today was a quite disappointing. He was either the aggressor or responding to the aggressor. Either way, it was dumb and just walk away. My main beef is that this is one of your team captains really? How come none of his teammates had his back. All of the packers came to defend their team mate, but not a single Texan other than Diggs. They were like, we want to focus on the game, and not his antics. That was very telling to me.

Or, you are making assumptions as to why the guys werent there to back him. From my understanding he was on the Packers sideline and with that many Packers its easy to lose one guy in the crowd or not even know he is over there and maybe they didn't know what was going on until after he was already walked back by refs and staff.

Difference between your opinion and mine.... mine extends grace to the possibility I don't have all the details.

Yours demands blood because you saw something that confirmed your preconceived bias of the man... which is an emotional response... which is exactly what Diggs had.
