Ward has had only one other documented concussion............and that was in Nov 2016, for which he did not miss the following game.Ward seemed to have experienced a severe concussion Sunday. The hit did not seem too terribly bad.
@CloakNNNdagger has Ward experienced previous concussions adding to the severity of this one? Has he suffered any recent concussions that this one is adding to the severity of the previous?
Alternatives to artificial turf fields | by Jess Heighway | MediumI've been asked why players feel Metlife Stadium turf is such an unusually hard surface.
Somehow my complete post did not post...........look at it again above, following the addition.
Am I posting this in the correct thread? I sometimes drink too much and forget which one is correct.Somehow my complete post did not post...........look at it again above, following the addition.
It's the correct thread!!Am I posting this in the correct thread? I sometimes drink too much and forget which one is correct.
Do they have to declare when it's a phantom practice? There are only 3 weeks remaining............and the Texans have not yet identified a phantom practice this year.
That's a good question. I don't know that I've seen a rule that mandates the revelation of the phantom practices, but......................in the past, as concerns the Texans (and other teams), there was always a footnote in the Injury Report to signify such.Do they have to declare when it's a phantom practice?
This is a good point. Ward is very much the QB of the D. It's not the same D when he's not in there.Everybody is talking about Stroud's concussion, but what about Ward's concussion?
First of all, refer to MY POST IN THE INJURY THREAD. When a contact practice does not happen, phantom practice / injury reports are posted anticipating the player's level of participation IF the practice had normally taken place. What is a phantom practice?
Ward has been cleared to practice. Still needs to clear the Protocol to play Sunday.
Stroud did not have a "repeat" concussion.Surprised Ward cleared protocol so quickly. Hope he doesn’t get a repeat concussion like Stroud may have had.
Looks like Ward will play on Sunday.Ward has been cleared to practice. Still needs to clear the Protocol to play Sunday.
It's either that or he decides to try to pull out all of the stops to obtain wins. I hope he keeps a non reckless player safety mentality, and not the latter.@CloakNNNdagger do you think Ryans being a former player will affect any of the medical decisions as far as when players return to play? By this, I mean him understanding what it's like to try and play through injury?
And Nico CollinsLooks like Ward will play on Sunday.
Remember.........this is Collins' SECOND calf injury............the first occurred Nov 5 and resulted in 1 missed game. Again, I am concerned with his return without a full week of full participation in practice. And Nico Collins
Ahem, pardon me said the kettle to the potOne reason for separate threads is so that you don't think another person has been injured every time a post is made in that thread. It's also easier to follow who has been injured and what the updates and statuses are.
Yet… this topic pops up routinely while being deleted. Yeah sure keep telling yourself it’s “easier” and “less confusing”. It’s most definitely not easier nor less confusing for me.One reason for separate threads is so that you don't think another person has been injured every time a post is made in that thread. Stroud was examined today. He continues to experience symptoms, including light sensitivity and sound sensitivity. He has been instructed to go home, rest, sleep, minimize all activities including reading.
Yeh, the chance of reinjury is a concern, but this is a critical game. A must win. Definitely not easy. You want to respond to a post in the injury thread, but it’s not easy to copy the post into the other thread.Yet… this topic pops up routinely while being deleted. *shrugs*
All good. I and most of us here absolutely appreciate everyone’s efforts here regardless. Thanks to everyone.
Sone sensibility. Thank you for the courtesy response.Definitely not easy. You want to respond to a post in the injury thread, but it’s not easy to copy the post into the other thread.
a bit of trouble for the mods, but I don’t mind. One of the things we agreed to when we started the discussion thread. I just wish Doc would be a little more patient. We’re not always checking those threads. But when I get around to checking on the board I generally move everything I see as soon as I see it.

Surgery is rarely indicated for calf muscle tear treatment as the muscles do not tend to fully separate. In most cases, whatever grade, the muscle will knit back together on its own over a several weeks to even months.@CloakNNNdagger , is Nico Collins looking at possible calf surgery this offseason?
These last 3 games are essentially playoff games. Isn't it great to be playing meaningful games in December/January.Yeh, the chance of reinjury is a concern, but this is a critical game. A must win. From the players perspective, if you can play, you play,
LMAOI've been asked why delete posts in the Injury thread, rather than move them. I have moved dozens of posts from that thread a month. With some posters, the notion of posting in the discussion thread didn't sink in. So if they realize the post will be deleted in the Injury thread, maybe they will make a better effort to post in the correct thread. Again, trying to keep it fair and simple.
CnD, I'm worried about Perryman's Achillies injury. They are shorthanded at LB and from what I've read when a guy has an injury like this, there's not only a great chance foe re-injury but a worse form of the re-injury. Tearing the damned thing?
Any thoughts or updates on Cashman?
This is what I've been trying to say.I find it ironic keeps making rules to enhance player safety, but they apparently have no issues letting guys play on a concrete slab in NJ. If CJ was playing on a better surface, his concussion very likely wouldn’t have been as severe. And we also lost numerous other guys on that shitty surface. Heck you can barely tap a QB on the shoulder on your way by without a flag, but hey just slam his head into a piece of concrete. No problem.
someone make this duplicity and hypocrisy make sense.

It's all about $$$$$$$. The owners have figured out the it is much more expensive to maintain grass vs turf..........repair/replace grass as it's worn down, every couple of weeks/months/year vs repairing and replace turf the recommended every 10-20 years. This is not even to mention the signficant cost of and difficulty of allowing different venues to be used or temporarily be converted...............grass vs turf.I find it ironic keeps making rules to enhance player safety, but they apparently have no issues letting guys play on a concrete slab in NJ. Plus, he got his bell rung pretty good against the Cardinals..CJ Stroud Concussion
I just read this article this morning. I think because he hit his head so hard in MetLife that the turf vs grass issue should really be brought to the forefront. He’s missing multiple games because of this concussion. All stadiums should be switched to grass for player safety.
Understood. Fair for the collective but also unfair. I get it though. I’m just on the wrong side of the fence. It sucks because -my- biggest problem is how I’m able to view this website. It limits how I can navigate this page. Guess I’ll post less in the injury threads because they’ll continue to get deleted. Oh well.I've been asked why delete posts in the Injury thread, rather than move them. I have moved dozens of posts from that thread a month. Can't you just quote and then change threads and select insert quotes? So you're on your phone? Tapatalk? Just quote the post, copy the quoted post, exit out of the Injury thread, go to the Injury discussion thread, and paste the quoted post. I just tried that and it worked fine.
Or you could just move them and save all of the trouble. Delete away.So you're on your phone? Tapatalk? Just quote the post, copy the quoted post, exit out of the Injury thread, go to the Injury discussion thread, and paste the quoted post. I just tried that and it worked fine.
No sir. Hate tapatalk. Worst app ever. I’m on the website directly. Check my previous post history. You can most definitely see me mucking up quotes over and over and over and over. I’m talking hundreds of edits to correct my post over the past few months. I have low vision but I don’t really want to share that publicly. So you're on your phone? Tapatalk?
