PANTHERS

Have you heard anything on the nature/severity of Rankins and Woods injuries? I don’t recall them being brought up after the Saints game.

Also, do you think Brian Burns was injured in practice this week? Or could this be a case of saving him for the trade deadline?
Re. Rankins.............He suffered an MCL in the last game. Keep in mind that Rankins missed ~ a month in 2020 due to an MCL.

Re. Woods...............He suffered a midfoot sprain before the Bye and has been trying to rehab. With no setback, I still believe he is at least 2 weeks away from returning. He has had intermittent foot problems reaching back to 2016.

From what I'm hearing, our rookie Center sustained a lower leg fracture and will undergo an MRI today. If it is a fibula fracture, he could be back the end of Dec. If it is a tibia fracture, he is out for the season. Neither situation will allow him any significant contribution in 2023. Our centers seem to have carried an injury target on their backs.

Looks like a broken ankle. I wish him a speedy recovery. He's been great for us this season.

The bone broken in his ankle is the the distal lateral maleolus of the fibula bone (the most commonly fractured ankle bone).

The team evidently does not feel that there is any merit in bringing him back by the end of the season, because as I mentioned, he is unlikely to be effective by then.

I think it's the right call. The chances of making a playoff run is slim, so let the kid heal and get ready for next season. Hopefully Juice returns this week or Deiter can hold down the fort.

As I've found that Brevin Jordan's foot issue is plantar fasciitis suffered in week 6, he should have had a prolonged rest. Following the rest period, very gradual progressive activity is mandatory. Any residual symptoms and further activity should not be encourages. Yet last week, still experiencing symptoms, he returned to practice Wed and Thurs, before being totally shut down. Symptoms can easily return if training is resumed too early or quickly......and the rehab starting over. Plantar fasciitis is a very debilitating injury, especially for a big man that makes a living by jumping high and comming down hard. It has critically affected or ended quite a few NFL players. I don't expect him to return anytime soon. And this injury is high risk for re-injury once the player does return.

Any update on Brevin? I wonder how many regular season games he’s missed so far..
Plantar faciitis is not a day-to-day or a week-to-week injury, but sometimes month-to-month or longer. The other thing that complicates this injury is that many times this condition is caused by/associated with hamstring as well as a tight calf and Achilles tightness. Studies have demonstrated that hamstring injuries play a significant role in the presence of plantar fasciitis. Jordan suffered a Grade II hamstring tear on the 4th day of TC this year and essentially missed the entire preseason rehabbbing.

Stingley has returned to limited practice. He has 3 weeks to be activated. If he is not activated by then, he is done for the season. Stingley should not be expected to be activated before having a full week of full practice. The longer he is given to rehab, the better his chance is to return to play, albeit still with high risk for re-injury.

Can everyone else read this? It's extremely blurry for me.
Not readable.

The reformatting was a lot of work. Hope you can read it now. :tiphat:
