Preseason - TEXANS @ New England

Why did Nico Collins targeted once [8 yards]?

Another game like this and Deculus #76 should be cut.

Why are so few talking about Juice Scruggs? I think he looked pretty good.

Did Slowik sleep Thursday night?

Tell me what Dell was supposed to run there?

It looks like a come backer, but if so, he ran the route way too deep.
Such a route requires the receiver to come back shortly after 10 yards; Dell didn't turn back until he reached about 17 yards deep.

I don't like pass plays where the routes all cut at the same time. Don't get me wrong, it makes sense to do it on one side of the field. A deep in and deep out by 2 separate receivers at the same time can force a safety to make a decision. It's an easy read. Throw to the guy the safety didn't pick.

When all 4 or 5 receivers across the field break at the same time, you've basically neutralized 2-3 of them. Separation is most likely at the break point in a route and no qb can read the entire field at the same time.

I know I've only seen a small sample size ,but I'd like to see a clear 1,2,3 progression especially for a rythm quarterback.

I see Dejaview's post as meaning in the current QB situation (CJ/Mills/Case), CJ is DeMeco's choice. I don't think he is referring back to what took place regarding the draft demand/strategy.
Ohhhhhh. I think I now get it. Thanks for telling me what I didn’t know until reading these posts again. When CnD said I believe in the Tooth Fairy I thought he was just ragging on me for thinking DR prefers CJ over Mills. I ragged back about his insiders saying otherwise. Lol, I didn‘t know that rag had other dirt on it. Talk about making the wrong joke in the wrong situation….I go to the head of the line as your MB poster “FROM BOSTON”!

Scruggs took the snaps with the first two possessions with Stroud at qb, then was replaced by Deiter when Mills came in. Just looked at all his snaps and I saw only one bad play when he whiffed on a run play. It's hard to evaluate OL play unless they screw up, but I agree that for a rookie's first game, he looked pretty good.

So, here's the thing... who makes the line calls in this offense? Is it the QB or the C?

I'm wondering because Deculus continued playing with Mills at QB and Dieter at C and I thought he looked better (I could be wrong about that).

On the play where Deculus absolutely whiffed, the line was shifted away from him, leaving him to make a tough 1x1 block... which he messed up. So I'm wondering if that was the wrong line call and if so, was that bad call on Scruggs or on Stroud?

I haven't looked at Deiter at C, but Scruggs was definitely pointing at players and seemed to be making calls. But regardless, it was rookie/rookie. With Mills and Deiter you have two veterans. You'd expect better calls.

Pats also subbed people out and they played against a different line and front....so there is that to consider as well

You will be waiting a long time.
Look at teams that suck for a long time: the Jets and the Browns for example.
They were never guaranteed to find a generational talent in the draft.
Not really, Next yrs QB class is a better QB draft class. There's no guarantees, but give me the better draft class and I will take my chances.

Dell ran the deep in cut and Schultz run an out in the flat. Mills who was covering the flat dropped back into the passing lane Dell was in. He baited Stroud into throwing the ball and got the pick. This is why Stroud said he should've taken the checkdown to Schultz. This stuff isn't that difficult to figure out. Well I guess for some it is.

Sure they are, Janice is the owner of the team. Hannah talked her into approving the Stroud pick over the football people's recommendations.

Are you pulling this outta a chocolatey bung hole or do you have a source?

His buddies told him that and he’s running with it.
True buddies that have been season ticketholders that know people within the Texans org. I'm not just going along with what CnD/Corrosion are telling you. There's also the McNair's history of meddling.

At this point it really doesn't matter because Stroud's the Texans QB. All I can do is not renew my season tickets and never buy a piece of Texans gear until the McNair's sell the team.

I strongly suspect a creature resembling the Loch Ness monster in the American great lakes offers lap dances while listening to Led Zeppelin's "Babe, I'm gonna leave you."

A friend told me so.

Again, cite a source.

I told you who told me. I'm not going to give you my friend's name.

Do you ask CnD or Corrosion to give you there sources?

Ryan’s told their credible and reliable source who he really wanted. He also lied along with Caserio and the owners that they got rid of all the people/players who were putting their business in the streets.
agreed. like I said, they're all liars. can't believe a damn thing they say in public. They say it for the media & the simple "fans" to wag the dog & make you think what they want you to think. Not to let you know what they are thinking.

Im probably a simple fan.

Do they give you their sources?

Is your opinion "or source" usually more right then wrong?

If you're going to reference other posters, quote them specific to the topic. Let them weigh in.

I'll wait.

We usually meet for lunch 3-4 times a yr. I would say right far more often than wrong. But certainly not perfect.

Your making huge accusations about the tampering of ownership. Surely you understand folks expect something to back up those claims?

My nessy red head bumps hard now to the sound of when the levy breaks...

She's cold and frigid. I put a hand across her back to warm and encourage her. A bouncer in the shadow takes notice and steps forward. "Hey!" He hollers out in a deep guttural voice ,and I just know things are about to go south...

Somebody is about to leave the club with a face that's wet and different.

I remember a time when the McNair's were called hands off owners, are you saying they're hands off owners now? If you believe this then I've got some great ocean front property in Arizona for sale at a cheap price just for you.

The entire team struggled under pressure. Lol
I think everyone knew they would struggle in the first game with a new HC, OC, and QB. Going against Hoodie just compounded things.
Anyone saying they expected different is just fooling themselves. Granted it didn't turn out like anyone wanted but it's early yet. That game was reminiscent of OB's preseason games of not playing the starters

Aww, I always wanted ocean front property in Arizona.....

..... I'd even name my boat after an ex girlfriend so it would never go down.

Was she more motor boat or row boat?

Tell me more about the hull on this boat.

If you don’t offer sources I won't believe you.
I dont care if you believe me or not, I'm comfortable in my shoes.

That's the point, BTW, you didn't answer have Corrosion or CnD revealed their sources to you?

Tunsil is #78
The Bad
When you are looking for areas of depth you look at what happens when the ones leave and the twos come in. Laremy Tunsil, Shaq Mason, and Tytus Howard were not playing in this game. Obviously, it is hard to gain a lot of insight into what Sundays will look like but we do know that if any of those guys go down, the Texans could be in a world of hurt.

*******************************

Stroud was 2 of 4 passing for 13 yards and one interception, while rushing for six yards on two carries. It certainly wasn't the showing the first-year QB was looking for to start his NFL career, but to
his credit, he was working with a patchwork offensive line due to injuries and veteran left tackle Laremy Tunsil sitting out.

I dont care if you believe me or not, I'm comfortable in my shoes.

I'm also comfortable in my shoes as well as yours. I'd expect my athletes foot won't transfer to you but my sources are quiet on the topic. Seems familiar?

You are the one making accusations. Not me. The burden of proof is on you. Your shock jock shtick may serve to get you the responses you want ,but saying it outloud doesn't convince anybody.

You know a guy who knows a guy?

That's a bullshit source for any conversation on this board.

Is there a generational QB next year?
I'm not seeing one.

You're going to be in another tanking battle with some other teams.

Like you said; it's not how the real world works.

Look at the 32 teams.
How many generational QB are there, and how did those teams get them?

The knock on Cj Stroud going into the draft was that he struggled under pressure.

In his first preseason game he struggled under pressure.

Why are we acting like he didn't struggle under pressure? NOT all of us, but those gaslighting this thing.

Man the D Lineman was in his face before he could even drop back, anyone would struggle under that pressure.

Dell was definitely not running a deep in cut.
