Point is an S2 isn’t the type of test you can study for? He may be the type that got frozen on the procedure?

True, is this the guy you want at QB in the 4th qtr of a playoff game? Gets frozen when having to think on his feet quickly?

There's a reason the S-2 has been a predictor of QB's failure, it analyzes the above part of my post.

Talk about extrapolating a mountain out of a molehill.

He made his feelings known publicly TWO YEARS after it happened. Not in the moment as an entitled Primadona. As part of a larger conversation saying he has always bet on himself and put in the work to succeed. No one at the time it occurred knew he felt this way because he didn't blast it all over social media. He quietly put in the work to succeed. He didn't transfer. He made the other guy transfer.

Jesus Christ, some of y'all are just working too hard to find these pearl-clutching angles. He wasn't my first choice as a QB but why are some of you trying so hard to destroy his reputation and impugn his character?
A statement saying he had been motivated is a statement of strong character. A statement saying he had been disrespected is a statement of weak character. Like has been said previously, time will tell.

Except neither are true.
Stroud was 4-8 passing for 29 yards in the 4th quarter. Was sacked once for 12 yards. Ran 6 times for 64 yards.

Stroud's 27 yard run with 24 seconds left put the ball on the Georgia 31. A FG attempt from there would have been 49 yards. Ryan Day calls for a run up the middle, losing a yard and forcing the Buckeyes to use a timeout. On the next play, Stroud throws a 6 yard slant to the right, and the Georgia CB gets there early with contact. No call. On 3rd & 11, the TE misses a block on an out side blitzer, forcing Stroud to roll out and throw the ball to the sideline to avoid a sack.

Ohio State's kicker had been 17-18 inside the 50, 7-7 from 40-49. He was 0-1 from 50+. His 50 yard kick was wide right.

I would ask that you listen to the podcast. Search on YouTube for the Pivot Podcast.

His actual words were "I felt kinda disrespected" at the prompting of the hosts. Mainly because he was told the day before that Ewers would participate in spring football. That was the entirety of the topic. 10 seconds. Moved on and talked about how he plays with a chip on his shoulder and is motivated by people thinking he can't be the guy. The entire interview, which isn't long, he speaks softly with no anger, histrionics or righteous indignation.

They both have the exact same criticisms, hold the ball too long, and panic under pressure. For Wilson that translated into the NFL game being too fast for him. In size, stats, performance, arm strength, positives, and negatives Stroud and Wilson are virtually the same. They are two peas in a pod. A low S2 may be an indicator and reason for why.
I see. I have to admit, I thought Wilson would be a stud, his college tape was similar to Patrick mahommes imo.

Wasn't that the crux of the 6 part Michael Jordan documentary? Jordan finding things to piss him off and motivate him. Articles posted in the locker room (back in the day) are now tweets. This has been going on forever.

Disrespect and motivation aren't mutually exclusive.

You do understand that athletes at all levels look for motivation where ever they can find it, right?

“The selfie celebration was funny and at the same time, J.J. meant it in a very serious way,” the junior fullback for the Wisconsin Badgers told USA TODAY Sports. “He felt it was disrespectful that it’s your first NFL start and you’re taking a selfie an hour before the game.

“J.J. takes his career very seriously. And he’s going to sacrifice whatever it takes. He doesn’t like when people joke around with it.

“He’s always locked in. That kind of got to him.”

The Texans star with seven sacks admitted he takes his motivation where he can find it.

“I don’t care what people do during the week, he can do whatever he wants,’’ the Texans defensive end told USA TODAY Sports. “Every player is different. I realize everybody lives their life differently.

“We find motivation any way we can. If I see a photo like that before the game and that motivates me to go out there and get a couple of sacks, then, that’s what motivates me.
“It was one of those things, that’s not how I would have done it. I’ll say that.”

Again a view into what the future is going to look like.

It's everybody but Strouds fault.

I think DeMeco has already inserted it into his head that he has to earn it. And I think Mills and Keenum will be motivated enough to make it as difficult as possible. Especially Mills. He didn’t play all that bad when he had some time to throw. He knows that he has no future here, but you can bet he will be auditioning to go somewhere else. Think he’s going to surprise some people.
If Mills vastly improves it will as you Say be a surprise!

That part of Space Jam was great.

I felt like JJ went overboard with humiliating Mettenberger. Poor guy was just enjoying his 15 minutes of fame and big mean JJ had to run him out of the NFL.

I think there was one that he invented just to get his motivation level up.

I would like to point out that OSU had a 14-point lead going into the fourth quarter of the game. Day was calling almost a 60/40 split for pass/run through the first three quarters and Stroud was something like 19/22 for 320 yards and 4 TDs.

Day tried to burn the clock in the fourth and started calling run plays, flipping to 60/40 in favor of the run. He was pulling a Kubiak and turtling. I'm not sure how you pin the play calling on Stroud.

Meanwhile, the OSU defense went into epic collapse mode, giving up close to 200 yards and 18 points in the fourth quarter. Again, not sure how you pin the defense being unable to hold a two touchdown lead on Stroud.

So Stroud absolutely carves up the vaunted Georgia defense for 38 points through three quarters, but Day going turtle and the defense giving up 18 points in the fourth quarter had nothing to do with the come from ahead defeat? It was all on those 7-8 pass attempts that Stroud had in the final quarter?

No one is saying that Stroud doesn't share some fault in the loss. You want to demand that it's nobody's fault but Strouds.

Nope, not at all, what I'm saying is, in the finest game of his college career he failed at the end of the game to LEAD his team to a win. He wasn't the only part of losing that game, but he was certainly a large contributing factor, along with Day and the defense. I'm sure you've seen that game and there no denying it. Now you have some blaming the loss on everybody but Stroud. It's a trend I expect to continue down on Kirby.

How long until he plays poorly in the 4 qtr/lose a game and some on this MB go to well he's young or worse the defense lost the game. Wrong, the TEAM lead by Stroud lost the game. This is the same crowd on this MB that played the everything that goes right was inspite of BOB and when things went wrong it was all BOB's fault crowd. Nothing could possibly be Derrick's fault. History is truly repeating itself, from the Carr pick until well into the future.

I would argue that the finest game of his college career was the 2022 Rose Bowl where he completed 80% of his passes for 575 yards and 6 TD's, where there were four ties/lead changes in the 4th quarter and he led a drive in the final two minutes to win the game.

Well if nothing else at least Texian and Steel B have found a bond, a common thread, a "tag team" if you will......strange times indeed.

LOL. Strange times indeed.

@steelbtexan, @Texian and even @Number19. Out of curiosity. Why are you guys in such a rush to criticize and trash Stroud? I understand not wanting to be part of the "Kool-Aid brigade" or even being a contrarian, but you guys are already labelling the kid a bust while attacking his character and intelligence. He hasn't even played one NFL game.

So, the question remains. What is the rush? To be the first to say, "I told you so"? Every time he throws an INT, to yell from the highest mountain his S2 score? As a jaded Texans fan, I can understand being skeptical, but you guys are so over the top, it's crazy. At some point, why even be a fan?

Some people just hate the Stroud pick, including me. I guess I'm to stoned these days to raise much fuss about it. DeMeco as HC tempers my Texans negativity to a large degree anyways.

How about Stroud winning a big game 1st.

So that 2022 Rose Bowl wasn't a big game? Two top 10 teams. You know, the game where JSN had 350 yards receiving and made everyone salivate over him. I wonder who his QB was? I heard he set the OSU record for yards and the Rose Bowl record for TD's. Marched his team down the field in the final two minutes to win the game. What was his name again?

This is an expansion team (again), we don't need him to win any "big" games. A game would be good. More than 4 would be great. A winning record in the next 3 years would be amazing.
I'm talking in college or the NFL would be a 1st.

Awinning record? You're setting the bar really low. With Mills at QB the Texans were within 1 score of winning another 6-7 games last yr in a Lovie/Pep offense against a much harder schedule. Now with an improved defense (Ryans) and OL/Weapons on WCO offense that everybody on this MB is orgasming over and Slowik, if Stroud's all that and they split the 1 score games they should win 8-10 games next yr. That's if he's better than Mills. I predict they will win 6 games due to a rookie HC/QB.

The Michigan game to get into the NC Playoffs was the big game that yr. The Rose Bowl not so much.

I really don’t understand this? He lead the team to a goal winning field goal but the kicker missed, so now it’s all Strouds fault? That’s like saying it be Brady’s fault if vinatieri missed the field goal in the dying seconds to win their first Super Bowl chip.

No way this was a big game lol ( sarcasm)

I don't think so. This is what I think of this team, until I see different. Main reason I didn't want to spend a top 15 pick on a QB.

Say, I've got some prime real estate back in the Okefonokee I think you'd be interested in.

No rush. Just pointing out a few things the Kool-Aid Brigade refused to consider. The Brigade was measuring him for his gold Canton HOF jacket. It was time for a reality check, not an I told you so moment. Before starting the Canton Bust you should know Stroud is the spitting image of Zach Wilson and everyone thought Zach was the cats meow. Daniel Jerimiah made a fool of himself fawning all over Wilson. No one has labeled Stroud a bust and no one has labeled him an MVP All Decade All Pro. Both are possible. Stroud is just not a sure thing the Brigade is insisting he is.

We shared a McNairs are losers bond for about 10 years until he fell in love with Caserio. He’s back now, he just lost his way for awhile.

This I can agree with but I do hope for the best

The irony is that USC got outscored 30-7 in the fourth quarter where Williams was sacked 4 times, lost a fumble and threw an INT.

This is too much.

You mean the finger nail painting QB who is supposed to be the next Mahomes choked?

Dude is a bust. More worried about his nails than preparing for a game.

You know what they say about a guy who paints their fingernails…they like massages at the Houstonian.

A long FG by a college FG kicker. I blame Day as much as I do Stroud. However if Stroud had played well in the 4th qtr it should've never come down to needing a GW FG.
