2023 DRAFT PICK SELECTION THREAD

In Nick's presser, he explored during the day, but only worked the deal with AZ while AZ was on the clock. So they seemed to think get the QB to maybe lessen the competition for 3, then worked a deal
maybe I am wrong and probably am but could be less controversial to give up what they did for Anderson than Stroud?

There goes the first TE. Kincaid to the Bills.

I'm so sick of this stupid infomercial te kitchen knife oc's keep buying.

If your offense sucks, te's do not make it better.

If your offense is good a te might, and usually by accident.

It's such an overvalued position that rarely pans out.

I didn't see your post when I posted mine, so read it in this order and I think it'll make sense.

Damn Max .... Good to ..... see ya again ..... wooooo son ..... that's it .... sun .... that's what you need .... sun .... and lots of it. Here come those dreams again !!

The cost differential in moving to 12th versus moving to 3rd..
But you're moving from 12 to 3

Not 25 to 12

Look, I'm not knocking the trade. I'm a firm believer in "get your guy" but it's disingenuous to say it wasn't a lot. The "experts" are saying we ate 50 points. I can live with that.

But it's still a lot.

WINNERS

Houston Texans – There were all kinds of rumors that Houston would pass on C.J. Stroud and take a defensive player. However, the Texans did indeed fill their need for a franchise quarterback. They also used their second first-round pick, and the 2024 first-rounder that they got from the Browns, to jump up to No. 3 where they got edge rusher Will Anderson. So new coach DeMeco Ryans kicks off his tenure by landing franchise cornerstones on both sides of the ball.

Stroud – After a week full of disparaging rumors and questions about his decision-making and processing abilities because of a low S2 test score, some speculated that Stroud could endure a draft-day slide. However, the concerns wound up being unfounded and Stroud didn’t have to wait long at all, going second overall.

It may have been a little on the costly side, but it wasn't egregious. You added arguably one of the highest rated players in the draft for a 2024 1st and a 2023 2nd.

Then you swapped #12 for #3 this year and a 3rd next year for a 4th this year. That ain't that bad.

I thought it was ok till the '24 3rd. It was costly. I want Stroud and Anderson to come in hot - pissed off - ready to go.

Right, and so 12 to 3 is intrinsically more valuable than 25 to 12.. can we at least agree on that?

And I never said it wasn't a market price, it was. That's fine.

In fact I'm on record that the math is we lost something like 50-60 points on the trade, I posted that hours and hours ago.

So ya bro, what's your actual question/debate?

If you think the talent gap behind them falls off a cliff, the math changes.

Jj's stupid hair and chart are a formality. I don't know why folks worship it like the ten commandments.

I am.usually way off in my assessments on draft picks and I doubt now is any different but with these two picks I don't go on knowledge. None the less with both CJ Stroud and Will Anderson Jr I have a gut feeling they'll be really good for us! I hope I am right!

The math also changes if other teams are bidding for the same pick. The trade chart is a guide to be used in a vacuum.
