Welcome Home, DeMeco Ryans

You can build up the defense all you want. But if your offense is trash, that would actually hinder the defense. We of all people should know this fact DB. And that go both ways because we’ve seen the offense was solid but the defense was trash.
Therefore, the objective should be to build up both sides of the ball. Last year’s draft imo they did a solid job of attacking both sides of the ball. I see them doing that in this years draft. Honestly I believe their first pick will be a quarterback. They can not go into the season with the group we have now. That was by far the worst quarterback room in the NFL. This is a passer league, so you can best believe they main objective will be to get a quarterback.

Of course, man. But it's easier to get the defense going, especially under a defensive-minded HC.

I don't want them reaching on a QB if they can't protect him. If there is anything they learned from the David Carr years, it's being able to protect your rookie QB while he develops.

Seeing how the Bucs and Packers did this year with good QB's, but a poor team around them, should tell you that a QB can't really be successful if they don't have a good team around them. Build the rest of the team first, and then get your QB. That way your QB will be put in a position to succeed.

you keep going into Twilight Zone. No one saying Young or Stroud has to be on a poor team. If Texans thought Ryans could not build an offense to support either in 2 years; he would not have been hired. It doesn't have to be QB and no other players.

So, you are saying you are ok with putting a rookie QB into basically the same position we put David Carr into when we drafted him?

I want Fred Warners.

Also, I don't want jerseys and helmets to change. Brand identity is important. Our jerseys and logo and color scheme is perfect.

"Stingley has outstanding talent. Gonna put him in position to make plays, allow him to showcase his talents.
Love Pitre coming out of Baylor.
Christian, fast, physical LB.
That does excite me, the young talent we have here. I’m most encouraged by seeing a player when people say “They’re not good enough”, that excites me the most. It takes time, it takes belief, pouring everything you have in a young man like Fred Warner. … To now say he’s the best LB in the NFL, I pride myself on that. "

It wouldn’t be a reach at all. They have four quarterbacks in this years draft that NFL ready. Another thing defensive player flame out too. Meaning they’re not a for sure hit. Even though Clowney and Williams were solid, they weren’t big time different makers either.

You do know the offensive line played a lot better this past season. Mills was protected pretty darn good. Run pro is where they struggled the most.

I love how he's talking about the young defenders from the last draft. I don't think he's politicking. I think he genuinely believes these guys will be great.

man you are exasperating!! lol. you should know LT Laremy Tunsil 3 x pro bowler is skies ahead of 1st year Texans. Howard is rated 68 % and was expected to grow a lot even if Warhop was to remain. AJ Cann was right behind at 67. All three would be even better with Young or Stroud. Green is a question but most willing to believe he could be RG if not LG. The only huge weakness was OC and we can address that with round 3. Skoronski, Paris Johnson and O'Cyrus Torrent would be smart selections. Add to QB's weapons with Johnston, Rashee Rice and RB Charbonnet.

Yes I am definitely ok putting either QB into my new offensive roster.

He also seems to be saying that Stingley was not put into position to be successful.

I'll take 10 lbs of DeMeco Ryans aura and mainline that ****!

This dude is as real as it gets. None of the word salad, cliches, or saying what people want to hear.

Just a dude living out his dream job in real-time.

Is it September yet? Literally cannot wait to get this train rolling.

Everyone will be cautious but reading posts, all think this could be most exciting off season ever. This is where I wanted to be when OBrien was terminated. Would Ryans have been just as prepared?

Skoronski and Paris Johnson will most likely be top 15 picks. O'Cyrus Torrence will probably be a late 1st round, early 2nd round pick. If you take two of those guys, you don't get Quentin Johnston or Rashee Rice.

Cann is 31, and may not fit in with the new offense. McCray is not very good. The 2002 Oline was a mix of veterans and rookies. The top LT didn't play because of injury. if Tunsil goes out, where are we? I mean, it's not like injuries happen or anything. Tunsil may have a pinky injury that keeps him out for the season. I mean, things happen.

Fortunately it appears that our new HC agrees with us:

"Yes, we want a great quarterback but we need a great offensive line, running back, wide receivers... We all play together. It's not all on one guy's shoulders."

So many people are obsessed with using a 2023 first round on a QB. If they do, fine. But if they don't? I'm okay with it.

I took it to mean Mills will be competing with someone to play QB for this team. Not necessarily that QB is their target at 2. Would not be surprised at all if they took Carter or Anderson if they can’t trade out of the pick.
He mentioned QB first because it was in response to a question asked. Don't put too much into it.

I am a Texans' fan again. It was a rough stretch the paste 5+ years... Even before we were HORRIBLE, we were unlikable. I am 100% behind Ryans as HC. That doesn't mean he won't struggle with some on the job training, but I am ready to take that ride with him. LET's GO! Me, and my fellow Austin peeps, will be in H-Town on September 10th, 2023. Looking forward to it!

And so many are obsessed with drafting what y’all want And just like you im a fan so whoever they draft. I’m all onboard. Been that way since day one.

It’s just seems as if some people are only stuck with their way and only their way.

Justin Herbert came into a team that finished 5-11.
His offensive line is basically two starters (at best).

That line was ranked dead last by PFF

As long as the rookie is ready, he can play.

The Texans offensive line looks like All-World as compared to that line.
