Bryce Young vs CJ Stroud

Is it just me, but is NC hard to listen & pull anything specific out of his conversation’s?

dont know why you’d expect anything different from a GM ….speaking on draft prospects no less.

Personally i find it hard to listen to any GM, player or coach when they speak at pre-planned speaking engagements while employed by the league. If you’re a student of the game and/or have been watching and following it for a while, They aren’t ever really saying or telling you anything that you don’t already know or assume….or they’re just flat out lying.

The only time you get anything good is when those guys aren’t employed in or by the league anymore…& sometimes thru twitter.

I'd like the Texans to avoid both Young and Stroud. I don't believe either are franchise changing quarterbacks. In 2024 there's a better chance of drafting that guy. If the Texans want to hedge their bets, they could draft Jaren Hall this year in the 3rd round.
So Caleb Williams and Maye should be the top 2 QBs next year but the problem is we can't keep the #1 overall pick from getting any of those guys

It's a risk. But if the Texans draft Stroud or Young, there's practically no chance the Texans will draft Maye or Williams.

I love what Stroud and Young did in their last collegiate games. But they had a number of lackluster games in 2022. Stroud's game against Northwestern was terrible.

With three 1st rd picks, I bet they could trade up and get one of them. Is it a risk? Yes, but it's less of a risk than picking an outlier like Young.

Did Maye or Caleb have a lackluster game? Any chance either or both have at least one in next season?

My belief is that whoever is number 1 will have an obvious QB need and will "tank" to insure getting Caleb. Much more possible that teams will get off of Maye for some picks.

You reckon there's a method to his madness ?

Know for a fact he loves his school, teammates and wants one more year with Marvin Harrison Jr. to try and win a Championship. Players no longer have to rush careers and jump NFL to get paid in NIL era.

Stroud was estimated to be 2nd highest paid last season (2.5 million) only behind Bryce Young (3.2 million) enough to pay for whatever a College kid and his friends could need to really embrace College experience. Impressive how both players have shown money management, responsibility, maintaining relatively normal behaviors making both polished prospects and successful business men at such young ages.

There is one big difference between these two. Bryce Young’s well rounded maturity soundly rests with his amazing parents, Craig & Julie, from a very young age. Anybody who shy’s away from him because of size measurements will miss the Young Boat. CJ Stroud signed w/Athletes First agent David Mulugheta who has created a business plan, well as advising him every step of the way, including staying in school or coming out.

Maye went 0-4 with 4 tds/,4 int to close out the year.

Caleb lost his last two games keeping them out the national title pictures

The thing that amazes me about Stroud is how calm he stays - or seems to, when out of the pocket. Almost looks to me like his mind is serene - "If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs" .... I'm sure it just looks that way .... sorta !

I think the win 5-6g games next year and if they rebuild right they will have three 1sts next year to get May which I would gladly trade for Maybe over drafting a QB at 1-2 this year. Of course I think more of Maye than most.

Is it possible that Stroud and Mulugheta are quietly working the back channels of seeing which team is likely to draft him? Or discussing with which teams to not draft him like the Texans’? It seems it would have been leaked if they were though.

Just seems strange that he hasn’t announced for the draft unless they are trying to make a spectacular announcement like a Don King sort of thing.

And he is making millions in NIL money and driving a Mercedes G wagon for free. That makes the decision a lot more difficult. Things were a whole lot easier before the NIL money

Yea but I read (don’t know how legit) that the NIL money is a couple million dollars. The first pick of the draft can make 20 million. There is a big difference there.

Why don't you post it so we can see if it looks legit, or a rumor from another player's agent?
Here.
Even in spite of recent news of Bryce reportedly being only 5'10" 185 LBS, Bryce Young is being compared to the NFL's version of Steph Curry for a reason! His accolades as a QB at the University of Alabama are truly the best the University has ever had. The 2021 Davey O'Brien award winner has won a national championship, a Heisman Trophy, and is 23-4 as a starter for the Crimson Tide. Not only is Bryce the only Alabama QB to throw for over 3000 yards in two separate seasons, but Bryce also set the single season passing yards record for Alabama at 4872! Bryce Young may not have the perfect NFL QB frame, but he most certainly has the perfect NFL QB mind!

So a Panthers fan with a Panther website posting on a draft site alludes to "recent news" of Young's measurements. Without a link. Does that seem creditable to you?

FYI. This NIL has real potential to distort a young man's values into a normality of gluttony even before he reaches the NFL.

C.J Stroud’s Net Worth: How Much Has The Star College QB Earned Before Stepping Foot Into The NFL?
Suyash Deep Sinha|Published 30/12/2022
Can't we go back to the good old days, when athletes could only get new cars, cash, and houses for their family illegally? And hundreds of $millions going legally to the middle aged men who exploit them?

I merely posted a report.
I have seen others with similar claims.

You're talking to the wrong person. I can tell you that in my training as a clinical medical student, surgical intern, surgical and subspecialty resident for a total of 12 years, I alone made my institutions millions. No one has ever talked to me about fairness, and how I should be reimbursed for my services as a "slave."

We should certainly tell legal adults when they're allowed to make an income off of their trained craft..

We should get right on that with MLB players signing for millions right out of high school..

NBA players cashing in 6 figures or more to go to the g league at the same age..

Maybe even tech wiz kids creating apps and cashing in in their early 20's..

European soccer players have been going pro in their teens for decades making money hand over fist..

slavery?

So as of 5:30am 1/16/23. CJ Stroud has NOT made his intentions publically known concerning the draft. Few things:
1- Stroud does NOT have to say anything to the public, he can just file. Not sure of the benefit of being quiet about this decision.
2- Reason to stay, Stroud wants to be in college with NIL money and an insurance policy protecting him from injury etc. His NIL money does not have to meet the money that he would get in the NFL, he is delaying the NFL with at least 3 million and in theory, getting better (or at least more experience) at his craft.
3- Another reason to stay, Stroud and his representatives don't want to play with the targets at the top of the draft board. Staying college with legit money to try again next year could be a new reality.

I think all of society is in debt to people such as yourself for their service and dedication. But, I don't see how that has anything to do about what you or I were talking about.

Reasons to leave early:

1. Average signing bonus for top 5 pick: $25 million. Which is more than $3 million.
2. One year closer to NFL 2nd contract, typically 9 figure signing bonus.
3. The NFL has the draft every year. If you don't like the teams at the top of the draft this year, next year's teams could be just as bad. Or worse.

This could be all for naught because today is the last day to declare for the NFL draft and Stroud has not.

IMHO, the term slavery is grossly misused. If the humans subjected to being slaves throughout history were to see how that term was being applied today, they might truly work up the strength to slap the living shite out of people. Slaves were kidnapped, beaten, and threatened into doing a job they didn’t want or set out to find…..I don’t see how that could be applied to professionals at any level.

1, Correct 2. yes, of course. 3. Again yep.

From the pure business of football, Stroud should have declared in the locker room after his Georgia performance, so I was trying to think through the sensible reason not to do the obvious.

The purpose of going to college for almost all is to improve their lifetime earning potential. Stroud has done that and may be at his highest earning potential. The other reason for turning pro in 2023 is because 2024 is beginning to look like the Year of The College QB and Stroud may not even be in the Top 3 in 2024.

I'm less than halfway through, but really good tape for a redshirt freshman. Stroud is best in the pocket, but made enough plays on the move for me to believe that's not going to be a concern in the NFL. Like any young QB, he has to improve on his decision making. Saw plenty of INTs left on the table by the college defenders. But, Stroud has all the throws, most importantly he puts the ball where the receiver can still run after the catch.

There was a reason why the word "slavery" was place in quotation marks. Anyone not taking the statement in context, is purposely not taking the statement in context.

Stroud just declared..

If both Young and Stroud are Mulugheta clients you better expect that if we draft either of them they will want a guaranteed contract and a no trade clause when it comes to resigning time. Also, be prepared for a possible request for trade after signing the contract.

Just saying. It has happened before.

Unless Young changes his agent he won't be with DM. But all future quarterbacks are going to try and get that fully guaranteed contract

This will add value back into Texans #2 overall selection. Multiple QB needy teams, will have more than one option (split on which one they prefer as this thread has shown) so this is a good day for Caserio and Houston Texans.
:logo:
I'm really warming to taking Stroud at #2. I'm sure it's only going to get worse as the draft process starts picking up.

Now... yeah kinda mad the Texans didn't lose to Indy

wait till you see the haul that Chicago is going to get for #1.

theres a “rumor” that Indy is wanting to move up to #1 and is offering multiple draft picks and players and get this, their in love with Will Levis. Maybe the football gods will reward us for doing the right thing and we end up with a QB that actually works out Out of this draft. Will Levi’s be the next Allen? Will Young be the next Brees or even Mahomes? or will Stroud be the next big thing? Honestly I’d be happy with any of them. It’s all a crapshoot anyway. The best case scenario too me is a trade back and still get one of those three.

Why would any team want to deal with this. Particularly for a good but probably not great IMHO QB.
