Davis Mills - statistical breakdown.

What’s the point? Sure, Kyle Allen is more than likely going to play a lot better than Mills, but to what end? The Texans are just shooting themselves on the foot by getting a couple of pointless wins at this point. We need that #1 overall pick and Lovie & Co are about to fucc that up. I’m guessing the coaching staff sees the writing on the wall and ain’t about to set the next coaching staff up for success…smh.

You really think Kyle Allen starting will mean more wins? Against who? Have you looked at their schedule? Jacksonville maybe but that's it. Texans are NOT beating any other teams this year no matter who the QB

Then what’s the point of benching Mills? I don’t get this move.

But we don't want more wins, this year atleast, right ?
We are in a rebuild mode which means the objective is to maximize draft picks, both in both numbers and value (the higher the more valuable).
This move is probably the McNairs intervening in matters they nothing about, which of course is exactly what got this franchise and its ownership into the mess they find themselves in right now.

Doubtful they win more than 2 more games. The 1st pick is safe.

They're trying to get Allen ready for Cleveland and beating them would be a good thing. Of course that's secondary for me. Derrick not being able to walk out of nrg is what I hope for more than a meaningless win.

I only laughed b/c the rest of the statement wasn’t shown. Lovie completed this statement by saying that he didn’t want to give the Dolphins an advantage by naming a QB sooner. What the duck is Lovie smoking!!!!
Exactly. SMDH. Lovie acting like going from Mills to Allen is like going from a pocket passer to a mobile QB and it will change the Dolphins defensive game plan. That was silly and it looked worst after he said it and 30 minutes later, there were media tweets saying Allen was getting first team reps.

Lovie is a cunning guy.
He fooled the McNairs, didn't he? :brando: :hankpalm:

This is my thought as well.

No even sure where to put this stuff anymore. Reversing a move that obviously should not ever have happened
From looking at Mills' body language, I thought he needed a break. He was getting worse pretty much every week. Sitting down helped him last year, maybe history repeats itself?

That's fair enough. I was thinking from Kyle Allen is who we thought he was file.
Kyle is likely who he is. And that's probably Davis Mills in 3 years. A guy who showed a splash of potential for a short time, only to fizzle out. Their career stats are scary close. Does give you a glimpse of what Nick Caserio evaluates in QBs, though. Don't think he's the guy to select the Texans next franchise Quarterback.

What did the Texans do to develop Davis Mills?

I’m pretty sure he’s getting what he needs. Processing it on the field and actually doing what has been taught is another question/s. We can all attempt to point the finger at the coaching staff. But when are we going to hold the player accountable.

We were expecting miracles for an OC to be able to turn a qb who didn’t have much experience in college to all of a sudden turn it around and be a pro bowler in the nfl by his second year.

he can be held accountable and it can still be acknowledged that this dude was set up to fail….

Stroud/Young come into this mess, we won’t blame them for the offense being **** & performing badly…….like some here want to primarily blame Mills for now…No they’ll go around the new shiny qb & go straight to blaming Lovie Smith/Pep….which is where the blame should be now for Mills.

If they are not performing at a high level they will be blamed to. Especially if they’re wildly inaccurate like Mills has been throughout this entire season. The plays he should’ve made is solely on him. Yes the offensive line started playing bad. Yes the receivers have dropped some passes. But most of the plays that he missed was his fault. Not the coaches or his teammates.

Exactly. What was crazy, they actually treated him like he was a seasoned vet this off-season. Dude should’ve played 80% of the snaps during preseason.

What it appears Caserio wants in a QB isn't Young and that gives me hope. Of course it wont matter when Cal makes Caserio pick Young.

I just hope the new QB is held to the Mills standards with regards to the coaching and not to the Derrick standard in regards to coaching.

You've hit on it here. With less preseason games and not giving him any playing time during them and no scrimmages it like all he got was a bit of batting practice. Then comes game time and they expect him to perform and put all the pressure of don't make any mistakes. He's so caught up in thinking about things he has to aim the ball instead of just play. Just like we saw with Watson aiming the ball leads to terrible inaccuracy. He can throw the ball if he'll just throw the ball and quit thinking about it. Play the game! Get the coaching out of his head on game day. Try to win instead of try to stay close!

He played almost all the preseason snaps his rookie year. I agree, he should have played most all of them this preseason.
