Davis Mills - statistical breakdown.

The only thing harder than finding your qb of the future is putting together a team with enough talent around said qb to win it all. And we are farther away from that than we are with a viable qb. A qb isnt going to help this team as currently constructed unless he’s a generational talent….period. And folks wanting us to draft a qb high next year b/c they dont want to see Mills anymore are just grasping at hope for the sake of their own entertainment….not b/c they want to see this rebuild be given the best chance at success.

The **** has been laid out with real NFL situations similar to ours with various examples…& folks still cling to the notion that a good qb is gonna turn this **** show around…at this point in just gonna wave tge white flag….
Sauce is still Sauce.
And Mills is still crap. :brando:

Keenum made it further than any QB the Texans ever had.

You traitor. :) :hankpalm:
Lol im not a traitor..i just call it how i see it.. i did when he was a Texan and i still did when he went to a stacked Minny team…He was a bum here and he reverted back to a pumpkin once Minny moved on from him & he didnt have that talent around to buoy him….that should’ve told you something…but you’re too stubborn to see…

At the end of the day, there is plenty of precedent for a below average to average qb with a talented team around him taking his team on a deep playoff run……..even to the big game and winning it

i however cant think of a single instance of a good to great qb taking a way below average talented team on those same type of runs much less winning it.

Where's the complain about the lack of talents on that Minnesota line?

Not to mention the early injury to Dalvin Cooks.

I dare you to look up what Keenum had had over the years as far as offensive line and weapons go.

Vikings Oline ranked 22nd.

26 different combinations used.

Broncos Oline ranked 24th (decimated by injury)

Not to mention Vance Joseph giving away a game to the Texans.

And the 4th highest paid defense playing way under their ability.
(And that was with Bradley Chubb as a shiny new toy whose salary was still low).
They should have drafted Quenton Nelson.

lol…you got excuses for days for Ol’ Case…..
As if you don't complain about these things for Mills.

The difference is Keenum was still able to get them to the Championship game while this sheety team is still at the bottom of the pile. :hankpalm:

I aint gonna sidetrack the thread…just know after all the excuses and NUMEROUS opportunities to start ….the league spoke…you dont need to take a guess about what they said….

Dont kid yourself….the talent level is far far lower here buddy than it was for Keenum.

how many years in the league …& years as a starter did Keenum also have before his cinderella season in Minny?

& ypu of all people have the nerve to **** on Mills..lol…get your life dawg!

Mills was probably the best player on the Texans today. Bias is a true buzzkill. The team needs more talent... And that's not to say Mills doesn't have his faults and couldnt improve. But he's doing ok considering what he's working with.

And you also forgot that Kirk Cousins came in the next year with both Diggs and Thielen, but also with Dalvin back in the lineup.
The Vikings offense took a dive by 9 spots and that team finished 8-7-1.

Mills is a garbage-time stats collector.

Pierce is the best the Texans have.

Mills isn't worth comparing with any halfway-decent QB.

i didnt forget anything i just dont care enough to go back and forth with you about something that’s so clear….whatever that team had talent wise, it was light years better for Keenum to work with as a veteran player in the league than what Mills has gotten. Furthermore, you’re trying to portay it as if Keenum was the difference maker…he wasn’t…it was more of right place right time type situation…As soon as Minny could move on they did…as did STL…as did Houston.

Aside from that, there’s talent on defense too..that you’re conveniently not talking about….are you in delusion about that talent comparison too?

Best in the field today? I would say Pierce, Cann, & Howard.

Mills wasn’t even top 10 on offense.

I’m good with Mills until he starts making bad decisions that cost the team wins & he made a bunch of them today. Well, they didn’t cost us the game, but they’re the kind that eventually will. He made a lot of bad decisions today & it’s becoming a bad trend.

Take the sack, throw it away. No more throwing on hopes & prayers.

Can't really give it to Pierce because of that fumble - a bad one. Agree with you on Cann, played solid again and has this year. Howard???

So now Cousins got a raw deal because of the D.

That's funny.

They got a CB in the first round.

And they hit in the late second on an OT, Brian O'Neil.

Come one dude.
I know you're better than this.

Cousins had a better time than Keenum and he fell way short.
Just ask the Vikings fans.
I know how they felt, having followed their forums for a couple of years there.

Y’all are both wrong. Zimmer is a better DC than HC. He didn’t like Cousins. And it shows this year. That is why he was fired. Plus the Vikings lost Stefanski to the Browns that year when Cousins came back and they underperformed compared to the following year.

Coaching matters and is undervalued/overlooked sometimes.

Packers drafted Rodgers while they still had Favre on the roster. Does anyone remember the Seahawks signed free agent Matt Flynn to a 3 year contract and still drafted Russell Wilson? After Rodgers and Wilson help their teams become consistent winner and Super Bowl champions, I don't think their fans wonders about the impact players they missed out on.

Even Belichick drafted Garoppolo with Brady on the roster. So, in a QB starved league, you can even trade those drafted QBs like Garoppolo and even Schaub for picks. My point is it's better to aggressively take your shot instead of passively waiting around for a generational QB who might not even end up being a generational QB.
Yeah you have to take a QB when you have the chance, but you don't take one high in the first unless you think he's going to be a franchise type. It's a crap shoot so you have to take your shots wisely

Stefanski was still a QB coach back then.

He had nothing to do with the offensive scheme

He would later learn from Gary Kubiak.
Check the internet.
I know I did.
I had learned a lot of things in tha Vikings organization and then the Broncos organization back then.

The OC landed a HC job with the Giants, overseeing a transition from Eli Manning to Daniel Jones

Who's comparing a team that goes to the Championship game with a team at the bottom of the pile?

I'm not that crazy, nor stupid. :)

Listen to Case in his own words on how Stefanski would work with Case and how he coached him. It makes sense that the year he had the most success was with Stefanski.

Keenum credited all of his QB coaches and HCs.

The guy he gave credited the most to was Kliff Kingsbury; the guy that also coached Mahomes and Mayfield.

By the time Keenum gets to Minny, he's already know most, if not everything about NFL offense, having run all three systems.
Keenum actually learned the West Coast Offense before Stefanski did.
It was Gary Kubiak that helped the Vikings installed it (and the reason why the Vikings signed Keenum).

But you're right, coaching matters.

Man, some posters know how to ruin a thread.

I can't believe they like to spend this .much time debating a career backup QB.

Heck I'm just glad BOB , who that poster hates was willing to give Keenum a 2nd chance by getting him out of a deer stand so that Keenum could get his NFL pension.

Keenum should be very proud of what he did with his 2nd chance as a marginally talented QB by NFL standards.

BTW, I thought this was the Mills stats thread. If posters are allowed to get off topic on an irrelevant topic like this. Then talking about the draft in various threads, which is way more relevant to the future of the the Texans than this topic is to Mills stats, then the draft should also be fair game to talk about in various threads.

On most boards, unless they're really tightly moderated, the threads go off topic and onto various tangents.

The mods here are pretty good about not being too heavy handed.

Although there are those who would disagree with me...

The Mods only crack down on tangents when they involve draft talk.
Depends. If it's old thread that's all over the place, & it's a couple of comments here & there i won't do anything unless someone complains.

If it's a newish thread in a non-draft forum I'll try to move it as soon as I see it.

If it's a thread, or topic that we've been warned to stay on track, or not to post about particular subjects I'll probably delete it

Got three reports right now. Haven't looked at them yet, but I can imagine.
