yep but why weren't other teams serenading him?
Ravens and Panthers brought him in. There is zilch about this signing other than it was made. Lol, we know more about Cashman than Green. For whatever reason no details have been released yet. Nothing on Texans site either.

Wish we had signed Green to two years. Looks like this guy is an ascending player and I’d like to lock him up. Perhaps he was only interested in a one year deal who knows.

in any event this D is now looking legit. We added a ton of speed and increased the overall talent level. This could be a borderline playoff caliber defense in 22.

Yep, and remember last offseason posters thought no players would want to play down on Kirby.
No way Lovie was ever going to make it as a college coach. It was literally impossible to assemble the right pieces for his defense in the short college cycle. But love him or hate him what I find interesting is the identity he has defined for his team, both sides of the ball, and with his enthusiasm and bearded aura it’s easy to follow him. As a fan I can finally see a goal for the Texans and a plan to get there and that the types of players he demands will gravitate to his system. He’s a good story and I could see the NFL following him and the Texans more.

This is why I advocate stability in leadership.
Constant change does not allow for an identity to develop.
Who wants to play for a team with no real direction?
I hope Lovie has success here so this team can once again develop into a force like it was under Kubiak. (Circa 2012)

This morning Seth Payne mentioned that Jerry Hughes is still FA.
That might be another veteran that could make a nice addition.
I can't recall the numbers but Hughes has a history of significantly more QB pressures than any player currently on the roster.
Plus he's a local, from Sugarland.

Green has had mostly minor knick knack injuries over his career (ankle, elbow) except for one significant one to open the 2020 season when he suffered a severe neck stinger. It was initially misdiagnosed as a shoulder injury. He missed 6 games following that injury. In the 2021 offseason, he concentrated on his neck strength in the weight room and seems to have had no recurrent problems. This is good, as when this injury is treated properly as it was with neck strengthening, and recurrent injury is avoided.............. permanent nerve damage and weakness is very unlikely.

I liked Hogan at Stanford. I thought he would develop into a safe QB. Surprised he hasn’t done much & teams haven’t seen anything worth developing
Why the Texans signed backup quarterback Kevin Hogan

The Houston Texans signed backup quarterback Kevin Hogan to the roster on May 4.

The signing doesn’t make sense prima facie as the Texans are already committed to Davis Mills as their starter going into his second season. The backup situation also appears to be a battle between Kyle Allen and Jeff Driskel, fresh from his sojourn as a tight end.

However, a look into Hogan’s past reveals why the Texans may have brought him inside NRG Stadium.
Hogan spent his collegiate years at Stanford from 2012-15 playing for coach David Shaw, who has been the Cardinal football coach since 2011. Mills also played ball under Shaw.

Texans offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for Stanford from 2011-12. Hamilton worked just one season with Hogan on the roster, and he split time with Josh Nunes in the post-Andrew Luck world.

Hogan continued to get used to Shaw’s offense. Hamilton went on to the Indianapolis Colts and was their offensive coordinator from 2013-15, working with Luck.

Hogan and Hamilton crossed paths once in the pros with the 2016 Cleveland Browns when Hamilton was the quarterbacks coach and assistant head coach. Hogan made the team after being signed to the practice squad after preseason with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent. Hogan was later elevated to the active roster.

With Hogan on the roster during the offseason workouts, he can help communicate the finer points of Hamilton’s offense to the rest of the quarterbacks room — not just to Mills. For Hogan, the challenge will be to parlay this role into being the full fledged backup or finding utility on Houston’s roster as a member of the
squad.

After leaving the Browns following the 2017 season, Hogan spent time with Washington (2018), Denver Broncos (2018), Cincinnati Bengals (2020), and the 2021 offseason and preseason with the Tennessee Titans.

James Washington was released from the Cowboys. His pro career hasn't been great, but he's got the physical talent and he's only 26. I think they should take a flyer on him on a vet minimum contract. It's not like we've got a lot of world beaters at WR.

Even when the Bengals were terrible during their rebuild, they signed Hendrickson and Reader to long term deals. Why is it the Texans are refusing to sign good young players to long term contracts? Steelbtexan posted by 2023 they should be in the playoff and a real playoff threat. Thats not close to happening when you don't sign sub 26 yr old players with years. In addition to the afc will all the good young qb, they may not be in or sniff the playoffs until 2026. Jacksonville is going to be that team in this division with Pedersen and Lawrance for awhile. I mean they got to the championship game with Blake Bortles. They have 100m of cap space and they just overpaid for Kirk. They also have a superbowl caliber coach.
So, how is steelbtexan's time-line looking?

He can't stay healthy. Normally when the Steelers, who are great at developing the wr position lets a guy go, recent history says he hasn't don't much in other places. The exception has been Plaxico. I guess you could count Emmanuel Sanders even though he got caught up in a numbers thing with Wallace,Brown, and others. Hey, its worth a shot.
