Why would Cal not let him draft Williams?Like I said, I wont have a problem if Caserio uses the 1st three picks on defense. If Caserio doesn't draft Neal at #3, then I hope he goes with Sauce/Davis/Williams and if Cal wont let him draft Williams the Ekibetie would be my pick at 37.
In my Mock….KC offered their RD1-29, RD1-30, RD2-50, and 2023 RD2 for the Texans #3 pick…..I took it.
Bengals offered up RD1-31, RD2-63, RD3-95, and their 2023 RD2 for the Texans #13 pick….and I took that one as well.
Raiders offered up RD3-86 and RD4-126 for the Texans RD3-80 and RD6-207….and I had to take that one as well.
In the end….trading 3 and 13 returned the Texans 9 of the top 100 and 11 of the top 108. 14 picks overall. If a team wants to start a rebuild on the right foot….this could be one way to do it.
Since we have Tunsil do you think we could improve the run game drafting a guard at the end of the 1st round & again at the top of the 2nd?My main goal would be to run the ball better and stop the run better
Makes you wonder why NFL GMs don't consult mock draft simulators more often..

I’m thinking that is exactly what’s happeningMakes you wonder why NFL GMs don't consult mock draft simulators more often..
The only one I would give up a round 6 for would be the TE Kolar.Day 3 Dudes:-

2022 NFL Draft: Eight Day 3 prospects that should be on your team’s radar

See responses in redWhat is the current state of the Texans OL?
LT is locked up with Tunsil? - For one season at $17 million with a $35 million cap hit in 2023.
Howard is solid LG? - For one season.
Britt is serviceable OC, but do need upgrade? - Signed for age 31 & 32 seasons. Hasn't played a full season since 2018.
RG McCray via Atlanta decent? - For one season
Heck also seemed decent but should upgrade or add Swing Tackle? - Signed for 2 seasons.
Didn't realize you were so miserly with the 6th rounders. The only one I would give up a round 6 for would be the TE Kolar.
Just for discussion, why do you think Neal has a higher floor than does Ahmad Gardner? Almost all sources say Neal should play one year at right tackle. I don't hear or see anyone saying sauce should play Anywhere day one other than outside cornerback. Same for Kyle Hamilton as all say he can play any of the safety positions and perhaps cornerback.. but should be a roaming safety . Some knock him for the slow 40 time but at least he competed at combine. Neil did not lift or do any of the events.
I was going to make the exact observation.Neal’s floor is higher because OL in general have more longevity
I'm thinking the ol you just listed helped lead to a 3.0 yd per carry avg and was subpar in pass pro. This is in addition to being injury prone. The only addition to the OL is McCann and he's been avg over his career. Gotta have some upgrades. At least 1 upgrade, preferably 2.What is the current state of the Texans OL?

Don’t see pressing OL need in the 1st rd over arguably best defensive gems in awhile? Think I’d go CB1 then Edge.
Only because I see the rest of them as undrafted free agents at bestDidn't realize you were so miserly with the 6th rounders.
I like all of the guys I know (Goodrich, Melton, Kolar, Volson) in the 6th round. Give me any 3 of those 4, and I'd give Nick a big thumbs up.![]()
It's all going to boil down to who the powers that be deem best value where they're at.But do we need to spend pick three for one of those monsters in the trench? Many if not most here seem to agree that green, Johnson, Penning, Kennard and Salyer can be had at or after Pick 13. I think possible Zion and Kennard may be there at 37 and Salyer at 68 perhaps 80.

What I'm hoping happens is if they choose to go defense. Walker/Davis in rd. 1. Although Sauce/Johnson would be great too.
If Sauce/Johnson happens then give me DT Jones at 37. Then trade up for Salter in late rd 2.
This fixes the trenches somewhat. Not perfect but much better than last year..
The go with the skill positions with the other picks in rds 3-4.
I might even look to move up into late rd 2 again of a difference making playmaker fell. That would make for a 5 player draft plus the 6-7th rd picks but I would be good with this.

I would be pretty happy with Hutchinson, Neal or Ekwonu at #3, and Hamilton or Lloyd or Walker at #13 - this pick is contingent on who they took at #3.
The only one I would give up a round 6 for would be the TE Kolar.
While I agree I think the moves that car sterio has made suggest that he sees the offensive Line differently.Agreed on all points. I don’t see how anyone can look a the Texans OL and think it shouldn’t be a high priority. Interior OL is the largest single weakness on this roster next to edge rusher imo. Or RB… or TE… or CB… or… crap this team lacks talent!!!

LZ’s take on ranking the position group depth this year. Something to take into account when deciding which “star” players to acquire early.
I like the thought of that speedy little receiver - he is very shifty and fast. Get him just a fraction open and he is going to eat a lot of yards. The only one I would give up a round 6 for would be the TE Kolar.
This draft will surprise a lot of draftniks - with all the talent in the top 25, some nice talent has to slide a little.I don’t see Hamilton or Walker making it to 13. Lloyd yes but trenches need to be addressed ahead of LB imo.
YetCaserio doesn't have a late 1st.
if HOU at the end of the 1st round has Sauce and Jermaine Johnson II, that’s a huge win.So LZ has Edge #1 CB #4 rated groups, key word groups. Could make argument Sauce is not only CB1 but Best Player in the draft. Edge rusher could be Jermaine Johnson. Now interior line group strength #3 and OT #6 proves my point and fact needs exist everywhere.

Prisco 2022 NFL Mock Draft: Jaguars pass on Aidan Hutchinson at No. 1, Saints take a shot at QB after trade
The Packers attempt to replace Davante Adams with two first-round wide receiverswww.cbssports.com
Could certainly do worse than solidifying the DL in a deep DL draft. Walker/Davis would make it hard for Henry/Taylor to do their typical 100-200 yards multi td act against the Texans.
It will be hard for the Texans to screw up with picks 3 and 13.
I think we could move to 20 something and get Davis still. Meaning we could likely get an early 2nd too.
Looking at late round options in the secondary:
I see Josh Jobe’s name coming up as someone who’s draft stock has fallen. I have seen him mocked between round 3-6. If he had entered the draft last year and not played through a turf toe injury he would most certainly be a day 2 pick as his floor. Starting CB Alabama has a workout 4/13 and is not expected to test well coming off surgery for toe.
32 5/8” arms, physical in run support. The only the thing missing to peg him as a Lovie Smith CB is the ball production. But Lovie has proven that he can teach players how to take away the football. If he does indeed fall to one of the 6th round picks he is an outside CB with starter upside.
See post 968Re-signing Britt and signing Cann/Ogbuehi is not fixing the OL. Adding competition and veterans familiar with the new OL coach sure… but the OL is in need of blue chip talent.

Despite not being able to run the ball, protection wise they were ok. Its not like previous year when Watson was the qb under the most pressure of any qb. You just need to be able to run the ball when you need to. 4 minute offense, 3rd and 3 or less.We will see about this.
I think Walker/Thibs/Sauce is the pick at 1-3.
My pick would be to protect Mills with the best I could get. Neal
That's because they used a short passing game for the most part and Mills got rid of the ball quickly. (I know about Mills throwing well 20 + yds down field.)Despite not being able to run the ball, protection wise they were ok. I mocked Sauce and Johnson but ended up with Trevor pinning at 13 due to needing to replace laremy tunsil in 2023. I just don't see any good offensive tackles in that draft. If we get an extra round 2 in a trade down I likeif HOU at the end of the 1st round has Sauce and Jermaine Johnson II, that’s a huge win.
And that’s not even my ideal scenario.

Cameron Thomas 71 tackles 20.5 for loss 10.5 sacks. I still think that Sam Williams with Mississippi May fall to round 4. No one has him top 100.
Normally guys who have a nose for the endzone in college, have it in the nfl. I was looking at Aaron Jones of the Packers and he scored 40 tds in college. He also isn't a 4.3 220lb bruiser, but he knows how to find the end zone. I don't care who it is, he just needs to be a dude who can make plays. I'm not against taking that guy in the 2nd rd either. That's because they used a short passing game for the most part and Mills got rid of the ball quickly. They also need to be able to run the ball at the GL and on 3rd and short. A guy like Pierce/Robinson/White/ Teague would help with this.
