What Grade Did Caserio Get on Watson Trade?

he full compensation is below, per Schefter:

Browns receive
  • QB Deshaun Watson
  • Selection choice — Round 6, 2024
Texans receive
  • Selection choice — Round 1, 2022 (No. 13)
  • Selection choice — Round 4, 2022 (No. 107)
  • Selection choice — Round 1, 2023
  • Selection choice — Round 3, 2023
  • Selection choice — Round 1, 2024
  • Selection choice — Round 4, 2024
In related news, @badboy and @steelbtexan have just traded all of the Texans 3rd and 4th picks to the Jags for their #1 overall pick.

I don't think the additional 4th round pick this year will move the needle for those firmly in the belief the Texans got hosed but I like it.
It is been forever since a single player was traded for anything close 3 first and three additional picks ...I have chosen to just stay out of that argument circus.

That is the one organization that might do that trade...

Looks a little better on paper. Was hoping those 3 and 4s would be 2 and 3s but oh well

If this is accurate I feel a little better about the compensation we received, although I would still like to have gotten a good young player.
IMO, the only team who is not eventually going to regret this trade is the Texans. The Browns are going to regret it sooner than they realize as I believe Goodale is pissed that Mulugheta was able to manipulate the system for the benefit of his client (good job by him) and will retaliate against Deshaun with a heavy penalty/suspension.
I'm just glad it's not our problem anymore.:)

Nick the Quick is a got darn beast. This changes my grade of a C- to a B+.

Oh no! It was a 6th round pick we gave up and not a 5th!(edited for correct draft pick)

There goes our hall of fame player!

and I can’t emphasize enough that there is a very real chance he’s going to miss significant playing time next year. The Browns are in a dangerous area having probably to win it all in two years, suspension included.

Nick had a $10 million dollar home for sale. He stuck a For Sale for $7 million sign in the front yard.
This was multiple offers on the 10MM listing and settling for 10MM cuz you decided ahead of time that you'd be happy with that number. Then letting the realtor pick the buyer and it goes to the buyer willing to pay the highest realtor commission.

I am raising the grade from D+ to C. Better… but It won’t go higher because Nick has no stones and let DW4 lead him around by the nose like a bull at the rodeo. This whole thing was back asswards. Watson did everything but get on his back and ride him except Nick was the clown.

Are you willing to consider that Cal and Janice told him to get Buttman #4 off the team as soon as possible? I agree with TK and others that he shouldn’t have let the player dictate the process (or the inmate run the asylum 😉). But think about it from his POV…if you are going to play hardball, you need the support of your boss(es) and if he didn’t have it, he couldn’t really die on that hill.

Once again, I’m engaging in WILD speculation so I’m just curious if that would you (or others) change their mind?

My hope was that Nick was the guy who would tell the McNairs how things should be done.

He's not the guy if he was complying with a stupid directive.

He's not the guy if this is how he thinks this should have been handled

He's not the guy if all he could do was comply with Watson/Mulaghetta's demands.

What about JE?

I’m fine with what they got.

I’m upset they let Watson dictate the process.

Atlanta just shipped their NTC disgruntled QB to Indy without a circus.

That’s all I’m saying.

Seattle traded their NTC disgruntled QB to Denver without a circus.

That’s all I’m saying.

The Rams QB was surprised as heck to wake up in Detroit.

That’s all I’m saying

Every single situation is different.

That's all I'm saying.

Is that you Nick Cliche?

Why is the dude responsible for the hopkins trade,JJ departure,Watson ntc,Eric Murray, Whitney contract still has power in the organization? The same guy who could be fired by O'Brien but not by the GM. Not only that, they almost hired a guy with 0 coaching experience as head coach. If that guy would've been fired when his buddy was fired, he wouldn't have wanted out and the team would've stuck it out. Until the team get that dude out of here, its going to be uphill.

If the team would've actually stuck it out with Watson after all the crap Watson drug them through (Easterby doesn't have anything to do with Watson's off the field buffoonery). I wouldn't have stuck it out with them. I would've just moved on like I did after the Oilers left. There's more important things in life than just winning football games. In good conscience I would've never been able to root for Watson and now I root for his career to crash and burn in a flaming heap pile. Good news for me is there isn't a better place of that actually happening than Cleveland Ohio 👍 😁

So, yeah I'm ecstatic with this trade.. A+

Help me out here. We traded a fourth-round pick in 2022 it either 2020 or 2021 for another player. At first we thought it was our own 4th and it turned out to be the Rams pick at 4.142 if I remember correctly. Am I wrong?
Following link has us getting 4.137 turned out 142 but drafftek has 4. 142 still Rams.

Anyone remember the details of that trade?

Yep, was watching some of the sports talking heads and they are all crucifying the Browns, many of their fans are having a hard time cheering for the team and even the Falcons, Saints and Panthers are getting some shade thrown on them.

Meanwhile we can sit back, enjoy the historic haul in picks and laugh because he’s someone’s else’s problem. Maybe Watson will win them a SB but he is now playing in one of the hardest divisions in the NFL so It’s wont be like beating up on the Drags and Tits every season.

Yeah I give it an A
