As a fan, I'd rather have a successful team to root for and enjoy than a clown show that gives us nothing but stupidity to point and laugh at.

I was a huge fan of Sean Taylor. Dude was gold on the field. If we used safeties like Polamalu I'd be all for it. We don't. Lovie uses a lot of deep 2 shell coverages. Hamilton would be wasted that way. If we trade back get him. Otherwise, #3 is to high. Jmo.

McCown seems forced on him. I like the one year prove it deals. Culley was a place holder imo.

I don't like discarding picks so fast for guys who don't make the team.

I wanna see more.

The fact that McCown is nowhere to be found on Lovie's coaching staff says Lovie wanted nothing to do with Caserio's McCown being the Head Coach in waiting. Lovie didn't want that crapola looking over his shoulder. Remember Lovie hired his entire coaching staff, not Nick Caserio. McCown's disappearance was a Lovie and Pep decision, not a Caserio decision. Not only was Lovie not intersested in McCown as member of his coaching staff, but he also banished Caserio from being on the head set on game day. This is Lovie's team now.

Other than Lovie saying the exact opposite I agree.

& Pep is just as much Nick's guy as McCown is even though both have ties to Lovie way back when.

McCown simply doesn't want any part of the coaching grind unless he's HC & that's the character of the guy Caserio interviewed three times

I said essentially the same thing when the idea to make McCown a HC in training was first broached.

He found Thomas/Smith/KGH/Collins off of the scrap heap.

I liked the draft he had. Finding guys that can play later in the draft like Collins/Jordan/Wallow/Lopez. Most of all I think Mills is the future at QB.

Houston traded a fourth-round draft pick (109th overall), fifth-round selection (158th overall) and a 2022 fourth-round draft pick to the Carolina Panthers, in exchange for the 89th overall selection. I wouldn't call trading a bevy of draft picks for a middle of the road mediocre WR, Nico Collins, found off of the scrap heap.

The Texans have made another aggressive move. Houston has traded up with the Buffalo Bills to pick 174th overall. They moved two sixth round picks, selections #203 and #212, to make it happen. But, wait, there’s more. The Texans also moved up to 170th overall from there. They traded picks #174 and #233 to the Los Angeles Rams to select Garrett Wallow, linebacker from TCU. Again, this is not necessarily considered a scrap heap move.

That's using 5 draft picks to draft 2 average and ordinary players. That's consider either a rich man's scrap heap or a fools.

And before you go there, dismissing day 3 picks and UDFAs, Caserio sure was praising those late round draft picks and UDFAs. Calling them very important way to fill out the roster. KGH is not a Texans right now. I'm not sold on Collins, Jordan, or Wallow, though I have hope for Collins & Jordan. But nothing that says this team is better than what it was before Nick. Just a different shade of Brown.

Would you trade Mills to Denver for their 2nd round pick?

Not shocking. are they NFL quality players? do they have the ability to improve? If they're any of these things it will be an improvement over what the Calhoun's previous GM's have accomplished.

No I would not trade Mills. I believe he's the future at QB. In fact he was the 2nd best rookie QB last yr and a top 15 overall QB the last month of the season. He would be the best QB prospect in this draft. IMHO and because he's played so little he's got so much room to improve.

We don't know if Easterby had anything to do with O'Brian being fired, but either way, buttchin earned his pink slip by every conceivable metric.

You might be giving Easterby a compliment by saying he was responsible for cutting that cancer from the team

Why does someone not running the team need to predict that before the fact? Caserio wasted that pick that could have been used on a young starter. That is the end result. We're judging Caserio's results here. Not a poster's inconsequential guesses.

BTW, I did explain why this was a dumb move prior to last year's draft. So what?

About pick #150 if Caserio is the moving around the board type. Last year's 150th pick was the Giants OG Shane Lemieux. Started about 9 games. But, Lemieux may or may not develop while counting $700k against the cap. He'll make less than $4 million over the 4 years on his contract. Cannon will make $7 million for one season. A season that will see the Texans go nowhere. In my not so humble opinion. Bill O'Brien would make this move in a heartbeat. Tossing away draft capital for one year guys meant nothing to him.

I judge Caserio by what he did last yr.

He found 4 guys that can play off of the FA scrap heap.

He found his QB of the future. Best rookie QB over the last month of the season. I also like the Collins pick and see him as a guy who has the talent to really improve into a WR2. Finding Lopez (A starter) in the 6th rd. He also found something never seen down on Kirby. Guys like Jordan/Wallow etc... above avg depth pieces. A good job considering the limited resources he had to work with.

This yr I'm sure a team will find a starter in the 5th rd after the Texans would've picked and we will see more posts like the one above. Fact is nobody hits 100% of the time. Caserio took a chance on a young slot WR who had starting experience and struckout. Hopefully this doesn't keep him from swinging at guys like this in the future.

Or as Tex said is Lovie now the guy calling the shots? For instance did he extend Tunsil? According to Tex Lovie called that shot. He's also over the draft and FA.

I said him because he’s always saying that in a lot of his responses when it comes to this type of topic. He also told me on here that if they don’t draft the players he wants. And the players that they do draft doesn’t pan out, he’s going all in on them, mainly Lovie. ( paraphrasing). It all started when Lovie was hired as the HC. He claimed Cal is not allowing Caserio to do his job. Therefore, the draft is all on Lovie, since Cal is not allowing Caserio to do his job.

It's a 6rh Rd pick in 2023 dude. It's not the end of the world.

BTW, I'm looking forward to seeing what Caserio can do with a full compliment of picks plus the Derrick picks based off of last yrs picks.

I do worry about Lovie calling the personnel shots, even though it's supposedly in Caserio's contract that he's making the final calls.

This year after it became clear Caserio was well on his was to be repeating another Culley debacle 2.0 head coach search comedy show, Cal had to step in, hire Lovie and make some changes. It was clear to all that Caserio was not the manager Cal thought he was.

If you've watched the Lovie and Caserio press conferences and interviews after lovie became HC, then you would know that changes have been made. Lovie said he would be the one to hire his coaching staff. And he did. Lovie said that he and his coaching staff would be bringing in players that fit their systems. And they are. Lovie standing front and center at Georgia's Pro Day while Nick was still in Houston should tell you something. Lovie taking away Caserio's headset could not make it any clearer that there is a new sheriff in town.

So what is Caserio's new job description? Assist Lovie in player personnel decisions to include: when directed to sign FA's, process trades, oversee scouting dept., coordinate the draft, processing the coaches staff draft picks, taking calls about trades, advising Lovie on trade ups and trade downs. Some folks say that Caserio would not stand for this. I remind them that there are $30MM reasons why Nick Caserio is loving it. Nick is probably now relieved that he's no longer on the road to becoming Scott Pioli 2.0.

A big part of any corporate, boardroom mentality is not being able to pin stuff on one person. For some reason we spend a lot time on this board trying figure out who messed up with this player or that move , when the Texans have always operated under corporate state where who really knows true responsibility except by guesswork and rumor.

You're probably right and Calhoun is an idiot. Cletus strikes again. You hired the man to run football ops, let him do his job. Other than Culley, who I think was a product of the Derrick situation I think Caserio did a good job last yr in the draft/fa. You're right though after seeing what they have done in fa so far this year things have changed and might I add not for the better. You're going to get what you wish, everybody will be fired within 3 years and then Calhoun will start a new con game.

How do you interpret Lovie going on a national radio show and taking away Nick Caserios headset?

How do you interpret Lovie commenting on several occasions that he and his coaching staff will responsible for bringing in players that fit their systems?

How do you interpret Lovie saying that Nick Caserio will be around to assist and help them when needed?

Unfortunately I do believe that we're going to find out that Calhoun's a liar and the boardroom still exists on Kirby. We will find out soon if Caserio is so pissed he says fine, do what you want to do Calhoun just make sure my checks keep hitting the bank on the 1st. I really don't care how this turns out since you decided to knee cap me before I got 1 draft with a full compliment of picks. Caserio is laughing all the way to the bank and frankly I don't blame him.

Afaic, this is all speculation.
If Caserio was at Georgia's pro day, you would be complaining he should be busy on the phone in his warroom in Houston finalizing deals.
