Jets trade Blake Cashman to Texans
Since arriving as a fifth-round draft pick of the Jets in 2019, Blake Cashman has been noteworthy primarily for his inability to get healthy.

2023 6th rounder for an often injured special teamer and LB

I was hoping we were away from these kind of Trades. I would rather take a risk on a six round draft pick blooming over a player like Cashman.
Caserio has got to Caserio.Why?
Cashman must have really shined in those 36 snaps the past 2 seasons. He did make 9 tackles. And had a great combine workout in 2019. So, he's got that going for him.If Caserio identified some kind of arbitrage that we can't see, I'm good with it.
If they say, why, why? Tell 'em that is human nature. Why?
I answered that question in my post. Why?
I think I would rather him pull an O'Brien and trade 6th round picks for 5th rounds the following year.Caserio trying to pull a Brady out of his hat with these 6th round picks!
Actually this was an exchange of sixth round picks between the Texans and Jets…Texans exchanged Shaq Lawson for CashmanI think I would rather him pull an O'Brien and trade 6th round picks for 5th rounds the following year.
Hope so. We have a ton of makeup needed.I wonder if this guy is going to bring good character to the locker room though?

Edit: When I first saw this, I thought it was about Blake Martinez. Figured someone had made a mistake and put Jets instead of Giants. Then I thought, why sign Kirksey if you're trading for Martinez.
Nope. Just another guy that was going to be cut. Who wants an avatar bet that Cashman will still be on the opening day roster?
Exactly.I'm actually ok ish with this. A 6th rounder for someone you've at least seen compete against grown men. If there's a reasonable chance that he just had a string of bad luck but looked like he can contribute that can't be much worse than a 6th rounder

No it isn't, but that doesn't mean just throw them away because they're burning a hole in your pocket. Hell, why not just cut the draft to 5 rounds if 6ths and 7ths are that useless?Exactly.
It's not like a sixth is giving up the world...![]()
You do realize Texans still have two more Sixths? No it isn't, but that doesn't mean just throw them away because they're burning a hole in your pocket. Hell, why not just cut the draft to 5 rounds if 6ths and 7ths are that useless?

We could have three & Cashman off the waiver wire. You do realize Texans still have two more Sixths?

the pick is for 2023..there are still 3 6th round picks for 2022
We have yet to see either of them in game action for Texans. We could have three & Cashman off the waiver wire.
But even if he turns out to just be a really good special teams player it would be a good trade.
Personally, I was okay with what he did his first go round. He would have been an even better waiver wire pickup.
Let’s pretend that Cashman doesn’t have the injury history and has become this special teams demon. He only has one year on his contract. Isn’t it possible to find a guy in the 6th that’s a special teams ace. On a 4 year rookie deal?
But my real concern is what is Caserio going to do with real draft picks? He’s never had them in an unsupervised setting. Would he go, “That David Johnson was a pro bowl RB 3 years ago. He’s definitely better than a stinky 2nd round pick.”
Caserio keeps doubling, tripling, and quadrupling down on a moronic strategy that has yet to work. What other crazy arse ideas does he have in store?
The Texans did have 4 6th round picks in 2023 (NYG, NO, SF, their own). Now they have...6-6-6.the pick is for 2023..there are still 3 6th round picks for 2022

The important thing of course is to continue to gripe and blame because it’s just so easy
It's a 6rh Rd pick in 2023 dude. It's not the end of the world.
My response to this is to ask how many sixth and Seventh rounders are starters in the NFL?If this were a rare instance i'd tend to agree with you. Instead it's becoming Caserio's mo. He's tossed aside these picks far to often and every time people chime in with, "It's just a 6th (or 7th) round pick Who cares?"
It's a bad practice especially when we end up cutting players so quickly afterwards. At this stage of the building process I think they have more value for us then a contender. How many cuts last year after a trade? 2? 3?
I'm starting to think the Texans are understaffed in their scouting department and have been instructed not to bother with the 6th round.
Maybe they should use Ziprecruiter?
Smh.
Yeah the NFL is just loaded with elite sixth round hofers.I bet Tom Brady would shake his head to if he read your post.

There are 1,500 players (approximately) in the league each year.So why bother drafting a sixth round at all?
Kurt Warner
John Randle
James Harrison
Antonio gates
Warren moon
And dozens other "smh."
So a single 6th rounder over two decades ago turned in to a hall of fame player vs how many 6th rounders flipping burgers now in that same time span?
I ask again, how many elite hofers are in the league?
Smh.
You are welcome to see my following post and search hall of famers / starters in the 6th round or beyond. Lil eye opening.
