Texans random thought of the day

The good news is that the Texans will be so cap strapped next year, they can't afford to bring that many "mentors" into NRG.

This isn't a bad thing

But if Caserio wanted to bring in say 10 mil worth of ex Pats he could do this by cutting say Cannon/Jenkins/Conley etc...

I dunno why was Tunsil AWOL for much of or most of the latter part of the 2021 season in terms of game time ?
The reports as I recall indicated he had an injury to a pinky which would seem to be a rather feeble excuse for missing so much time.
If the injury report is accurate would you want to keep that player on the roster as the one to count on to protect your QBs blind-side?
Injury was a thumb fracture with completely torn ligament. The injury occurred mid Oct. He should have been able to return by mid Dec. That would have left him no more than ~2 games to play this season. There could be many reasons, some of which have been already mentioned, for him not playing besides not wanting to be here.

And the answer is yes, but if he doesn't want to be here so be it. But you'll never convince me that if he doesn't want to stay the Texans on field product wouldn't be better over the next 3-5 yrs with Tunsil playing at the LT position.
That's the thing Steel: for whatever reason(s) Tunsil doesn't seem to wat to remain with teh teans organizaion.rI don

Awright thank you for informing on Tunsils situation this past season.

If when DW4 is traded there would be an additional $16.2MM in dead money which would increase dead money to $51MM. However, because the Texans wouldn't have to pay DW4 2022 salary that would be a salary cap savings of $18.8MM. $35MM Salary - $16.2 dead money = $18.8 savings. (Provided the Texans do not agree to pay any portion of DW4 2022 salary).

Additionally that dead money can be spread over 2022 and 2023 which is another benefit.

We don't know this, if true trade him and move on.

If not then hold onto him until next off-season and trade him.

FFS. It’s no wonder some orgs have a person that does nothing else but count beans. I’m guessing that’s the norm. How a GM alone could keep up with this I have no idea. In reading a few paragraphs of that my brain wandered off to a rerun of Good Times.

It was a serious **** up to let Chris Olsen go.

That was worst than the Hopkins trade.

He was the only adult in the room among all the idiots trying to write contracts.

I’ve come to grips with keeping Tunsil for the 2022 season. Trade him in 2023 b/c those return assets would be every bit as important as the one’s some of us are hoping a Watson trade will return in 2022.

Also, the Watson trade should be a gift that keeps giving in 2023 and 2024 as well.

Cal and Caserio have spelled out what Easterby's role is. Operations/Logistics, Caserio is over football ops.

You can choose to believe them or not.
If a HC goes to Caserio and ask to sign a FA and Caserio agrees, but Easterby thinks it's not a "culture" fit. I know this is speculation, but what do you think happens?

I think Caserio makes the final call. Each situation is different, adding AB I think/hope he would listen to Caserio. Adding a guy like Justin Houston (Pot Smoker) he would listen to the HC that he hired.

In other words I think there's just as great a chance if not better that Casero would listen to the fottball guy that he hired about player related decisions than his friend Easterby. In fact, Caserio doesn't have anything other than support staff duties for the football operations side of things. So I would imagine Easterby wouldn't give an opinion on a football realated matter unless he as specifically asked by Caserio for his opinion..

With that scenario in mind. Although Caserio made the final call. Didn't Easterby chime in on personnel moves? How is that only operations and logistics? How many times would he sway Caserio's decisions on personnel?

According to Caserio, Easterby wouldn't be giving his opinion on football matters unless Caserio asked him for an opinion.

I think Caserio would tell him to do his job. Just like the Patriots did. Find a way to make it work. But there will still be those Ocho Cincos that just won't.

After further consideration the Texans paying a portion of DW4 salary as part of the trade deal is a distinct possibility when you consider he will be suspended. The trading team could very well likely want the Texans to pay half his salary to cover the suspension. The file clerk may have no other alternative but to pay it he wants to trade DW4.

I believe Caserio does have the ultimate authority over football operations but Easterby even though he sits underneath Caserio in the org chart has a stronger connection to ownership. And IMO Easterby would win a battle over Caserio if it came down to it with Gameboy C.

I bet Easterby would be gone as soon as people stop crying about him.

Probably promote the heck out of him to McNair industries

more definitive here

Hamilton doesn't want to leave and the Texans don't want him to leave. The Texans will find some way to keep him.

I believe that since Caserio and Easterby are friends, that Easterby will stay in his lane and leave the football side of the operations up to Caserio. Atleast that's what both Cal/Easterby have tried to tell us. Like I said you can choose to believe them or not. I choose to believe them because since Caserio has been on Kirby there's been no reason to believe they're not telling the truth. If this changes you can believe I will be the 1st to point this out, and I will not only be cancelling my season tickets. But I will be done with the franchise as long as the McNair's own the team. In short I cant stand being lied too.
