And although he is a Mulugheta client they still interviewed/met with him. But they are supposedly tired of dealing with Mulugheta clients and they have no interest in hiring him as their HC. :ok:
It was probably a one question interview

Caserio:“Would you consider changing agents?”

Flores: “Why would I?”

Caserio: “Thank you for your time, I’m sure you have a busy day ahead of you. Don’t call us, we’ll call you.”

So, McDaniels is like a Hollywood Diva, he doesn't have to interview for the part. Thinks he's a Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts or a Meryl Streep.

"However, Wilson writes that McDaniels “is not expected to pursue a job” with the Texans. "
Unfortunately the best guy to work with Mills doesn't look like he wants the job.

I dont care if he's a prick or not. Some people think Parcells/Belichick etc... are pricks.

I hope this is the case.

Look like to me that Mayo is most likely going to be the next HC of the Texans. Not that I would go this direction, I want the candidate that can best develop Mills. If that means hiring Daboll/Lombardi or even Pep as HC I'm on board.

We know Flores has been successful? Do we? He's 24-25 with no playoff appearances. That's not even Bill O'Brien level, 27-21 with 2 playoffs his 1st 3 years.
I can actually see Brian Flores defending his job performance in the final meeting with the Dolphins owner mentioning his winning streak to end the season. Only to be cut off mid sentence with:

“Doesn’t matter Brian. No AFC East titles three years in a row. You’re fired!”

Depends on who Mayo would choose for the offensive staff. Pep hasn’t left yet.

I have been impressed with Vrabel’s offensive staff selections during his tenure with the Titans. They have had a successful offense and gotten the most out of Tannehill. They still won the #1 seed with their best player, Derrick Henry missing half the season. And they have an AFC Championship game appearance during his tenure. Hopefully Mayo can pick em like Vrabel if he gets the gig.

Sure Vrabel lucked into Arthur Smith already being on-staff (like Pep is for Texans). But when Smith got the Falcons job he promoted Downing who he added during his tenure and he has done a great job this season.

The roster was aging and lacked depth.

How long did Myers/Wade Smith/Briesel play after they left the Texans? Myers retired and the other guys lasted a couple of yrs and were done.
No point turning this into one of the 7 year old threads. The reason Texans sucked the year Kubiak got fired was because of Schaub's pick 6's, not because of aging roster, even if it was aging.

If Mayo is the guy, then as Texans fans, we're all hoping this happens. I'm betting Caserio will have a big say in the assistants on Mayo's staff. BTW, I wont be disappointed if Mayo's the guy. He's a leader of men. The only guys I dont want is any candidate that has anything to do with Mulageta. This shows me a lack of judgement from any proposed candidate.

Don't forget. Vrabel hired Matt Lafleur and when Lafleur became the Packers HC, that's when he promoted Smith. So, Smith and now Downing are still running LaFleur's WCO. I always found it interesting that when Vrabel became a HC, his preferred offense is the WCO and not EP.

Well Briesel left after 2011, but it's true that Meyers and Smith retired after the 2014 season. However we did have two youngsters by the names of Ben Jones and Brandon Brooks who could've stepped in and replaced them.
Briesel only played for 2 or 3 more seasons, hanging on as a shell of his former self. My point was that the roster was aging and needed to be supplemented. Which it was, however this kept RS from addressing other roster issues.

Slow down there with the comparisons. Parcells and Belichick have earned the right to be pricks. When you haven't accomplished anything on your own and run around acting prickly like Parcells or Belichick, then you are a just a prick. Don't believe me. I give you Bill O'Brien.

OK,

Tell me why you think McDaniels is a prick?

I like guys like Parcells/Belichick/Jimmy Johnson's of the world more than the Seifert/McCarthy/Dungy/Schottenheimer's of the world. Why? They win more.

For the record. I like Parcells, Belichick and Jimmy. As far as McDaniels. He had a verbal contract and worked for weeks with Ballard to hire his future assistant coaches like Eberflus and then left them hanging and returned to the Patriots. He tried pulling a Spygate with the Broncos and people give him a pass for it. Seems like he has a little Clemson trash in him. :kitten:

If you're not cheating, you're not trying

Said by the 2017 Houston Astros.

As far as standing up the Colts at the altar. That made me very happy.

I think they’re keeping quiet about most of their interviews. Flores, Lombardi, and Hines were all reported after they had already interviewed.
I hope we are...I'd hate to see us taking our time, meanwhile all the others are doing their interviews and making their hires and here we stand taking our TIME!
Figure OUT who the F£$%# we want and go get them! Do the interview and be done with it!

What if they do trade Derrick for multiple picks this year and next. Would you be open to trading some of those to a team instead of getting players?
Like Trading 2 1’s, one this year, one the next for Payton and then giving him HC-GM title and signing him to a 10 year deal?

Payton Manning? Hell no! What has he done to make anyone think he’d be a good HC let alone GM? I don’t want to gamble the next 4-5 years again which would set us back another 10 years.

I believe he was referring to Sean Peyton the head coach of the saints.

Out of curiousity. If that was the purpose of the meeting. Why do you think they would even announce the interview/meeting? They already have other candidates that would meet the Rooney rule.
He’s a candidate for sure. Lol I don’t know why Doc said what he said.

Look, these guys hired Culley because they knew he would do exactly what they wanted him to do. It’s how people like Easterby without talent or experience are able to maintain control. So this hire is going to say a lot about where this thing is really headed - do they hire another green candidate who is just going to be thrilled to have the gig or hire someone that is going to want to plot his own direction like Flores even if it comes at the expense of their total control?

HC- Flores or McDaniels
OC- Pep Hamilton **My guess, PH has the respect of Flores & McDaniels**
DC- Lovie Smith **Lovie did a very good job based on what he had to work with / Loved the turnovers his defense created**
Flores has a few Red Flags that would make me a little nervous if I was in Caserio's shoes having just fired my 1st HC hire after one season. There are reports out that he stopped speaking with his assistant coaches over the last couple months. What's that all about?!?
You have to give him credit for the way he finished the season (8-1) but I'd have to really be comfortable with his explanation about what was going on with him concerning that.
I'd also love to hire Flores away from every other team just to lock Watson out from ever getting the opportunity to team up with him! That would almost be worth it by itself!

Looking at the resumes of the various candidates I still can’t figure out what is that one factor that puts one candidate ahead of another. It’s not coaching experience alone because some have many years and others little. What human attribute makes the difference? N the end I’m afraid it’s just a crapshoot.

Flores seems like a complicated head case in the OB style. if he and DW ever team up some where that’s gonna be one political team.
