it only takes an organization this inept to drag this out for several days after the end of the season. First, decide on HC and announce that decision. Rest of the coaching staff reviewed individually regardless of that decision.

What if the HC that you want is in the playoffs and that future HC doesn't want his hiring announced until after his team is eliminated?

You still would need to setup interviews to satisfy the Rooney Rule if your future HC isn't a minority. That will take a week or two to do the interviews, which will by time.

The principals of the company.

Posters sure spend alot of time trying to save billionaires money.

What the Texans are going through right now is literally paying cash for past regimes mistakes. Gotta pay to get top candidates to fix the trainwreck and make the mistakes go away. This includes FO/player mistakes. The price tag for fixing players and FO will run somewhere around $100 mil. If Cal wants the fans back he will have to pay up and hope Caserio gets this right.

I know you disagree with me, but I think Caserio is off to a good start. The next 2 drafts will be a franchise altering drafts. Lets hope he gets it right. Last draft gives me hope for a bright future.

My reading of the tea leaves this morning is all of this silly buffoonery brouhaha began when Brian Flores was unexpectedly fired. This caused the File Clerk to spit out his coffee and put the Clerk in high gear to pursue Flores as the next HC. If McDaniels was a done deal Culley would've/should've been gone on Monday but he's not, he's still here. Flores is weighing his options and why Culley is on hold. Here is the kicker, don't be surprised if there is a move to bring back DW4 if Flores is named the new HC for the Texans. I will really look forward to reading @steelbtexan comments if that were to happen.

McDaniels has a playoff game. He really can’t do anything until the season is over.

However, the McNairs would never allow Watson to play another down for the Texans. Never going to happen.

If it did then that would be a dogs living with cats situation. Mass hysteria.

Just the facts, ma'am. If money wasn't a big deal, there wouldn't even be a salary cap, right?

The salary cap was pushed for by Jerry Jones so that he didn't have to try and keep up spending wise with other teams. Otherwise this would be like baseball where teams can spend as much as they want and just try to buy a championship.

“Obviously when we went into halftime — and I want everybody to know this — I really had nothing to do with that change in the second half. Because I said very little when I went in there. I didn’t know what to say. All I say was that’s not how we wanted to start this first half. Let’s end the second half. We got 30 minutes left. Let’s end it the right way.”

Strange to say he had nothing to do with the second half.

Not really. Mills said that when they went in at the half, everyone was in agreement that their running game and game plan was not working and that they needed to change things up with an uptempo game. When pressed about whose idea it was to go uptempo, he just repeated everyone was in agreement. As OC, TK would have been foremost in any decision with qb coach PH also chiming in. Mills had stated earlier in the season his preference for the uptempo game. It would have been these three who would have been in agreement on the change. I can see and understand Culley not saying much, leaving it to these three. He also would have obviously been in agreement with the change.

Strange? What halves has Culley had anything to do with? Other than calling time outs at the wrong moment and erroneously declining penalties, he has zero impact on games.
I am under the impression Culley just isn’t a good speaker in front of the media.
Culley lacks self-awareness and is brutally honest (when not asked to lie). Makes for some entertaining pressers.

I think you're on the right track, but haven't pieced it together. Nick and Jack have it figured out. And they've talked Kyle into it (begrudgingly). Dump Culley and hire McDaniels. The issue is talking the other McNairs into their plan.

Eating more $millions while having to slash ticket prices and concessions? The other McNairs are into this for the $$$$. This is the family business. Hemorrhaging cash does not make them happy. This evaluation time isn't about Culley. Everyone knows he was a colossal mistake and should have never gotten the job. The evaluation is how much longer Kyle will be allowed to piss away the family fortune.

🙏 Please please please let this be true that there are McNairs in the background that are willing to check Kyle's buffoonery and force a sale of the franchise. lol

My attitude is let them go 'all in' with the Patriots-clone route and get it out of their system. It'll either defy the odds with success or fail spectacularly and the McNairs will lose whatever fan base is left, force a sale of the team to stop the financial hemorrhaging, and the only hope for the Houston Texans is to be bought by Elon Musk. hehe ;)

The only thing I see inept is the media. They’re looking to stir up some drama for a number of reasons:

1, b/c they can’t get inside the Texans FO as easily as they once did with Smith, BoB and the other GM’s to find out what’s really going on in the FO since the purge of sorts. NC/Easterby and Cal have done a pretty effective job of keeping them out…So they’ve basically been throwing **** up against the wall to see what sticks.

2, Culley was never their guy, they don’t want him as the HC & they’re trying to do everything they can to get him removed…so the rebuild can really begin, whatever the hell that means.

3, it makes for good radio and clickbait to talk about and bash the Texans. NFL playoffs start in 2days, We are in the middle of the NBA season & You’d think they be moving on talking about how trash the Rockets are with Rockets players walking out of practices and openly challenging the HC…MLB lockout going as well…but no, let’s talk about the Texans HC “situation”.

The ONLY reason this is even a thing is b/c NC didn’t give them a clear confirmation to a question they asked that they thought he should’ve. THATS IT. Not Cal coming out and saying anything, not NC coming out and saying anything, it was merely him literally not spelling it out to them “yes, he is coming back”. Not like it would’ve mattered tho. Had he done that, they would’ve just went on and continued to do what they’ve been doing since the dude got the job.

They should already know. They’re friends. Caserio was in New England with McDaniels when he decided to come to Houston.

if they don’t know what McDaniels is going to do then this “plan” is hogwash

If they know then they know. They can’t tell us they know that they know because then the NFL and Patriots would know. That could be poaching or tampering.

Or maybe the plan is two years with Culley and then McDaniels.

If Flores is hired then that tells us that McDaniels was not in the plan or something changed.

There's no way Jerry Jones pushed for the cap. The Cowboys are one of the teams that can outspend everybody as they were doing in the early 90's.
