Everyone agrees veteran leadership in the locker room is a good thing. The disagreement is when posters act like these guys from Foxboro can fart Patriots Way pixie dust in the locker room. Burkhead started 9 games in four years with the Patriots. Since leaving the Patriots in 2017, Amendola has not played on a winning team.
I just think this narrative about every former Patriots (not named Brady) can provide your team with veteran leadership is overstated.
Add to that, Caserio traded away his most productive veteran (leader) acquisition in 2021 for a 2024 7th round pick. So I have to question whether these veteran leader acquisitions were procured to translate to instilling a winning culture or were they brought in to make it look like they actually cared. Many fans bought into Caserio's dizzying flurry of roster moves during the offseason but the bottom line has resulted in squat from a fans perspective. But from the executive boardroom perspective, they're still making money and I'm convinced that's
their bottom-line. That's what it looks like to me. Admittedly, I have no inside sources like a couple of members of this board have, so I'm just looking at it from my humble, ordinary Joe frame of reference. And I'm not sure if I'd believe anyone making money off of this franchise if they told me I was wrong about my views on the Texans ownership team. Cal is a brainless fool that gave the franchise over to O'Brien and Easterby when everybody, and I mean everybody that follows the NFL knew that was a terrible idea.
I expect more of the same in the upcoming games/months/years. They like Kelly as OC and Culley as HC because those guys aren't going to rock the boat. They're going to be here for the foreseeable future, regardless of how bad they perform. And they are really, really bad at what they do.
