O'Brien vs. Kubiak

Uncle Rico

Ur apology should be as loud as Ur disrespect was
Hey bro stop being an Aggie. Lol
its been hilarious to sift through the ad hominem attacks, the strawmen, the red herrings, hasty generalizations, slippery slopes, recency bias, Ad Ignorantums etc...

@76Texan presented his argument neatly and concisely and all it did was turn the OBrien Gestapo on him. What could have been a great team building exercise and off season dialogue gets sht on and bullied until there is no more contrarian voice. Sad, but its what this place has devolved to. So we pick sides and fight. Shrug. I'll ride with the facts and stats nerd gang!

(For the record those guys who take offense with Aggies are probably Texas Tech dropouts or even worse from the Piney Woods!!)

2-14 is 2-14

Look at their overall records

Mediocre is Mediocre no matter how you slice it

False, plenty of cap space and draft picks in every rd but the 1st.

Not this crap again

You're a broken record that cant be reasoned with.
And here, together with post 611, you were telling KDog how great a trade for Tunsil was.
And that people should'nt worry about losing draft picks and cap space because the Texans still get plenty.

I dont hate O'Brien yet as a gm. The clowney trade was crap though. I suppose he signed off on the oz deal to even if we had a gm at the time. Despite that, hes made some aggressive talent grabs. I'd like OB the GM to tell OB the hc he needs an oc and a new ol coach.

Kubiak was a far better game manager with a legit scheme. Once Schaub dropped off though there was no saving him.

I don't think either have been good in the draft. I'm not sure how we really compare to other teams ,but we just bomb far to often outside the 1st round.

It's a draw imo.
I'm sure you changed your tune as soon as he traded Hopkins. The clown got a promotion to GM after one of the most embarrassing losses in franchise history.

The bridge between stupid and useless is short.

I sure did. I was naively optimistic at the time and we didn't have the hindsight we do now. I'll own it. I was catastrophically wrong. The only person in my opinion that did more harm to this franchise then ob was Casserly.

I believe in giving new gm's and coaches some leeway to start especially when they inherit a bad situation like Caserio.

I am naively optimistic about Caserio now.

That's probably a bad omen.

This is actually a good exercise @cbs1507. You should continue reading through old threads and calling out current posters for misguided opinions. I'm sure you'll find a LOT.

Most fans are naively optimistic. We have the best intentions. Part of being a fan.

Yep. We've all been there. :texflag:

But, after two decades, I can say that I'll always be a fan (obviously due to a mental illness ), but I've lost the ability or desire to ever be naively optimistic again. Or at least while the McNair family owns the team.

I don't fault or argue with any fan that still wants to be optimistic. More power to them. I don't fault fans for any of their feelings because the few of us left are all in the same sinking boat.

:pirate: lol

I think that eternal optimism fades with age. Is that because you gain wisdom with age?

Maybe. . .or, for me at least, it's the futile feeling of watching Houston football teams for 5+ decades and never ever seeing a truly great team in this city. Couple that with a natural skepticism that's been clear coated with a thick layer of cynic and here we are.

I'd be a whole lot more optimistic if I was a a Patriots fan. . . or Steelers fan. . .or Packers fan. . .or. . .or. . .or. . .:spin:

If I was wiser, I'd probably find something more productive to do with my time than watch football. lol

I'm not quite as cynical. I was pretty happy during the Bum, Earl and luv ya blue years. Then again that was a time when I was young and probably filled with that eternal optimism. :)
