All that says to me is no one is betting on the Texans. The odds makers will keep raising the spread until people start to put money on the Texans and even out the betting. If that happens you will see the points drop later in the week.

Remember that the Panthers game was probably the only game most people have seen the Texans play.

I can't imagine anything in the Jags game or the Browns game to make anyone think different.

We're not stopping anyone but Trevor... no,, he had a good game against us..

I think Josh Allen counting for 5 TDs by his dam self has more to do with it.

They're going to score 40. We'll be lucky to score 12. 40-12=28 Vegas has a way to go.

Meh, 51 attempts to get 330 yards with three INT's isn't a good game.

He has 125 passing yards when it was 34-7 with 3:24 to go in the third. He had only thrown the ball 24 times to that point.

So 205 yards on 27 attempts in the final 18 minutes of absolute garbage time and he still got intercepted once.

We didn't stop him. We're not stopping Josh Allen & that's really the point.

I expect Allen to have a field day running the ball and Diggs to eat good off “good ol’ Vern”.

Offensively, I think Mills plays about the same as he did against the Panthers. I don’t predict any Great Leap Forward. Like Carolina, they are fast & They saw what they did… & they will do the same & get after him. I don’t think he will get hit as much tho…& that’s b/c the “expanded role” Culley & co. We’re talking about today will mean they are going to let him audible a bit when he sees blitz. And you’ll see him audibling into runs and quick hitting passes, that while they will be completed mostly, they won’t be for 1st downs. IOW’s, Buffalo CB’s will play off and drive on some of the short stuff to try & get some TO’s via ints and/or will rally up and tackle the WR immediately short of the sticks.

It could be argued Mills played well enough to win that game. He had no support. No run game, one ST play, no defense in the 2nd half.

Well yeah it also says that most people believe the Bills are the better team. Which unfortunately I agree with.

I'm just saying that the point spread is driven by other considerations than just accurately predicting the score.
The line currently moves back to between 16-1/2 and 17.

Are you sure you didn't just put in a large bet, Mattress Mack? :brando:
Bills are a -10 in the 1st half.
The over/under is set at 48. I’m guessing 38-14. Take the over. I like @Texansballer74 score prediction also.

i said in the postgame thread that he acquitted himself well. By that I mean he didn’t lose us the game…which in the particularly tough situation he was placed in (short week, 1st start etc) is all you can really ask for given how rookie qbs tend to do that in general. I do like what i saw from him in that 1 game tho.

he’s definitely poised…or at least gives the impression that he is…which is a good sign. But eventually he will have to show growth in his game for me to be convinced that that poise is actually poise…& not cluelessness.

You mean in a "don't know what he don't know" Kind of way?

He looked clueless the first couple of series against Cleveland, but since then he looks like he belongs. The game hasn't been too big for him yet. I agree with Culley, looks like he can handle more.

Sort of. I was more thinking along the lines of how Osweiler was with talking the talk of a franchise qb. That dude had really mastered the qb talk in terms of conveying confidence that he knew what he was doing and that got him over in the initial PC and 1st couple of games with the fans. But by midseason, his play had shown that that’s all he’d mastered b/c his game was super trash.

Savage conveyed similar “poise” to me too ….which as it turned out was just really him being a dead pan reactionary type person in general who couldn’t process his reads fast enough.

Agreed, we are still in the lets see what we have in Mills stage of the QB's development.

Couldn't this be said about any of the rookie QB's?

How do you think Mills has looked against 2 very good defenses in a game and a half vs the other rookie QB's in 3 games and Fields? I know it's early but the results are very promising seeing that Mills will be facing 4 of the best defenses in the NFL and showed poise. I thought he played well despite missing 2 of his best WR's.

Mills has played 6 qtrs and 13 games in college and he looked much better than Fields. Can you imagine this MB if Mills had played as bad as Fields did against Cleveland. The coaching staff did a great job preparing Mills to face the NFL's #1 defense against Carolina.

he has looked fine considering the circumstances. The other guys:

Lawrence is in a hopeless situation…but he’s not helping himself either with some of the absolute horrible throws he’s been making. I still expect to see him be much better by next year…..or after Meyer is fired b/c it’s clear he doesn’t know what he’s doing on this level.

Same for Wilson, although I wasn’t a huge fan of his to begin with. Sure he has the arm talent, I just don’t believe he’ll ever be able to put it together..at least enough to be a franchise altering qb. I think he was over drafted and I expect that by the time his time is up with the jets, he’ll be a career backup who can do some thing on the order of Keenum in the right situation, but will never be a guy that can elevate a team as a franchise qb. Watched his 1st 2 games, Right now he has no touch. Everything is a rocket & he holds the ball way too long at times….for a guy who doesn’t have the requisite athleticism to get away from defenders like a Wilson or Rodgers does…2 guys who i think he plays like.

Fields…he will blossom once Nagy/Pace are finally fired and they bring in folks to build around his skill set. Last week was an abomination of a gameplan by Nagy. Kid had no chance to do anything and I don’t blame him for his performance.

Lance, too early and he hasn’t shown much, but I don’t think SF really upgraded from Grappolo. Lance can do some things Jimmy G just can’t, but I believe Lance is a downgrade in the arm department. And I think he’ll wind up hurt more often than not b/c his 1st instinct is to run…& Shanahan will also run him a lot too.

Overall, Mills is actually in the best position of all these guys to develop normally. It will be up to him to keep progressing tho.

I think the next two games will be telling. The Texans simplified the game plans for Mills, which I think is good coaching, whereas the other rookie qb's were asked more of. This could be reflected by their performances.

The Texans are going to open the playbook for Mills starting Sunday and how he responds will be the best test and indication of his skills so far this season. McClain just said on 610 he expects Mills to have 2 INT's.

All ints aren't created equal. I expect him to throw 1 int that matters within the course of the game..& he may throw another late when Buf has the game well in hand and it doesn't really matter.

I expect Buf to trick him into audibling into plays early on, blitz him a ton early in the 2nd half if we're somehow still within winning distance like Carolina did coming out after half time.

F*** McClain. I know a lot of people respect his opinion, but I don't, and really haven't for a long time.

To be fair, what did those two QBs have in common?

I like Davis Mills, but what have you seen the last 6 qtrs?

One bad thing about Mills is ball placement. Better CBs would have picked him off more than a few times.
