Then it's on the FO to figure something out. That's why they make the big bucks. Unless they're content on Watson holding the Texans and their salary cap hostage.

They can't just make options up out of thin air. If they want to maximize his value they have to hold him. If they want to take pennies on the dollar then that's their business. But he's holding the trump card as long as they don't play him.

If it weren't for the legal stuff I believe he'd been done gone. But the situation as it is, not much they can do.

We're playing this season with a 52 man roster.
I'm too lazy to reread the new rules regarding the PS this year, but I think with this format, it doesn't makes any difference.

Agreed, but I don't want him to play another down for the Texans org. If it causes Cal to lose a few millions, then that's the price Cal has pay for getting in bed with this POS.
Big Ben was accused of rape and still on the roster. So you cant stand to wat
They're that dumb

They thought it was no big deal and it wasn't until women started filing complaints in mass.

Cal gambled on his most marketable player and lost. Like I said, some on this MB knew some of the things he was doing long before these complaints came out.
Nobody on a mssg knew! Nobody!

Since we're not playing for anything meaningful it doesn't matter.

But it's still a disadvantage to have one less roster spot, unless you're void of talent & don't mind leaving someone you want to keep exposed on the practice squad.

Now the new IR rules help.

No charges were ever filed. There's going to be a big difference as soon as this goes to a grand jury.

1 girl had a down to fvck t- shirt on. His security guard a for LEO was standing guard outside the bathroom.

I guess that's why his nickname is Big Ben, she got more than she bargained for.

These are totally different situations and trying to compare them is in a weird way trying to justify the 3rd string QB's perversions. IMHO

BTW, No, I dont like Ben either.

Just curious who does everyone think that 53rd guy would be?

That's not how I remember the new PS rules.
You still keep him on the main roster.
You can still bring guys up from PS.
Each team can now dress 48 players on game day instead of 46.

why do you care? The Texans will always suck b/c they don't spend money, Cal and the Mcnair family only care about money, you're giving up your season tickets b/c & none of them know what they're doing anyway.........according to you.

I mean why care if he suits up for a team you obviously hate....makes no sense right?

Depends on what side of the fence you're on. Those who just want him gone for whatever reason say that 53rd roster spot is preventing us from bringing on another pro bowler & it's a big deal....Those of us who know better understand that whomever it would be likely wouldn't be a difference maker and would most likely be a ST or 4th string OL or something.

There’s a chance that Glazier’s story might’ve had some truth to it.

Ever watch a car accelerate 0-60 then slam on the brakes?

Watson announces he’s never playing for the Texans again and I’m fairly certain that’s when NFL GM’s came out of the gates like they were running the Derby.

I’m sure they were all tapping the brakes when the first allegation broke in the media.

When additional sexual misconduct accusations hit the headlines…..I’m sure that’s when the brakes were slammed using 2 feet.

I posted this before but here are some of the 2021 practice squad rules. You can protect up to 4 player a week.

1. Expansion of practice squads to 16 players, including up to six who have more than two accrued seasons.
2. The ability to protect up to four practice squad players per week from being signed by other teams.
3. Elevation of up to two practice squad players to the active roster, without removing any current players, before 4 p.m. ET the day before a game.
4. Elevation of an additional practice squad player within 90 minutes before kickoff in the event of a late COVID-19 positive test result.

------------------------------------------

IR for 2021.

1. Players placed on injured reserve can return after three weeks, rather than six as in normal seasons.
2. Removal of the limit for how many players can be activated from injured reserve.

I renewed my season tickets and although I'm fully vaccinated I'm choosing to sit out this season. BTW, I dont believe the vaccine is what it's being sold to be, but for work purposes getting the vaccine was a necessary evil.

Also for the 1st time since the teams inception I actually like most of what Caserio has done this offseason. I know the McNair's have never spent money but I'm hoping Cal was telling the truth when he said he was going to let Caserio fully run the football side of the operation and I tend to believe Cal because of all of the turnover in the FO. If Cal wanted to play it safe Rootes and company would still be employed down on Kirby. Plus I believe if Bob McNair was still alive the POS would've already been flushed from the org. (You dont mess with the brand) Since this hasn't happened it makes me think Cal's letting Caserio run the show.

Anyone have any information about this "trade offer"? I don't see how it's legit and we passed on it.

There's been a whole back and forth about this, about whether Glazer has good contacts or not, about whether this is accurate or not, about whether this offer was from a team DW wanted to go to and would waive the no trade clause, yadda yadda yadda.

610 is reporting an op-ed published in a NY City newspaper, by a woman sports writer, calling for the Giants to trade for Watson NOW. Her argument is the team will be going after a QB next year, so why wait? The Giants have 2 ones, 2 twos, and I think, 2 fours. 610 said that the Giants could win their division THIS year with Watson as QB, and this lady writer's argument was sound. One more thing she wrote was to get Watson now and just wait and see, and deal with, the ramifications from Watson's legal issues later.

Just started a thread about this very issue.

Will Watson trade his no trade clause?

What are the contingencies?

If yes and no, then take it.

Doubt the Texans would go for only 2 #1's.

This would be a good starting point: the two 1's, the Dolphins 3 and the Bears 4.

Pay to play. It would be on the Giants to satisfy themselves Watson will be available to play in 2021.

Beyond this, there would have to be additional contingency picks to be worked out.

I'm of the opinion the Texans need to get out from under this albatros as quickly as possible, while still getting most, if not all, what they would like to get.

Trades not going to happen until the legal stuff is settled, or atleast until the depositions of the 3rd string QB are taken in FEB. 2022.

At this point I would trade Watson for a Klondike bar and that may be asking too much.

What's the point? I'm on board with what the Texans are doing. Hold out for an offer you want, and if it means eventually his trade value goes to 0, then so be it. That also means you'll be able to release him and void his contract. But for now there is no point trading him for a proverbial bag of chips.

Agreed.

Even though I would've already cut him.

This is why I'm glad I'm not Caserio.

I’m on board with getting the value they think they should get. This franchise has taken so many beatings in trades the last few years, they need this to be heavily in their favor.

I’m not on board with letting him waste a roster spot and giving him free money to do jack squat. They should have treated this whole thing like he was their starter, and when he refused, suspended him. And he gets to dictate where he goes too? Yeah, the Texans were dumb enough to give him that, but **** him anyway.

Agree with all of that.

True
I like the Giants idea. I mean he said he would go to NY, he didn't say anything about if it had to be the Jets. And odds are he is not going to play anytime soon. So, while they sit and wait for him to play, we draft some good players.

Miami hoping for the best on Tua Tagovailoa’s injury
if Tua is going to miss significant time…..hmmm. I mean Miami’s entire season could be on the line.

Yeah but obviously they were holding out hope that Tua could develop. Now, they have to realise that he’s a complete waste of time
But, that doesn't mean there is universal agreement in the organization that Watson is the answer. And it's all non-football reasons. First, the GM has to to think it's the right thing to do. Then he has to sell it to ownership. Then to the coaching staff. There are so many impediments to dealing Watson, besides just the obvious stuff like future suspensions and trade compensation. When Watson is finally traded, it will be one of the toughest negotiations ever.

There's some football related reasons too ..... Watson's style of play - particularly holding onto the ball as long as he does because he feels he can escape just about any pressure.

Its a very exciting way to play the position , a highlight reel waiting to happen ..... but is it conducive to winning at the highest level ? It has a tendency to put you in 3rd and long on a routine basis .... It's hell to block for that guy & the risk of injury is high.

Watson is a top 10 QB by any metric. He would have been dealt for a king’s ransom months ago if not for his off the field issues. That is the only thing holding up a trade.

My sense is Stephen M Ross is locked in on DW4.

This may be true based on his time in an offense ran by OB which may not have been conducive to Derrick's abilities/strengths. What we do know is that he is considered a top QB by just about everyone associated with the NFL. Surely if it wasn't for those non-football reasons as mentioned, the Brinks truck would have dumped a boat load of assets to the Texans already.

Same offense he ran as a rookie and looked like a world beater ..... One difference is his release times went significantly higher.

Yes , I believe most are sold that he's a quality QB and that without these legal issues , the Texans could ask for the moon & stars and get that and more.

Those who believe that might want to re-evaluate their position .... this is the ultimate team sport and the QB position requires more decision making than athletic ability.

Deshaun Watson is the antithesis of Brady , Brees , Manning.

Watson is #2 all time in passer rating. All time. #2.

Does that mean I think Watson is the 2nd greatest QB of all time? No. Not even. What I mean is that your statement is ridiculous.

…..and good lord, don’t forget the Texans teams he’s been playing for while ascending to that #2 spot. Getting there isn’t an accident and with a better team he could very well be sitting at #1.

In Context: The NFL requires a minimum of 1,500 Passing Attempts to be eligible for the passer rating stats.

Watson has 1,748 which puts him at #173 all-time in terms of pass attempts. Mahomes is 6 attempts ahead of him at #169. Both of them met the minimum threshold before the end of their third seasons as full time starters.

They have both thrown about 25% of the attempts as Rodgers and about 40% of the attempts as Wilson, the other two QB's on the list that have career ratings over 100, and about 17% of the career passing attempts as Brees and Brady.

Brees for his career was at 98.7 on 10,000+ attempts and had 10 seasons with a rating over 100.

Brady for his career is at 97.4 with 10,000+ attempts and had 8 seasons with a rating over 100.

Manning for his career was at 96.5 with 8300+ attempts and had 8 seasons with a rating over 100.

This is the definition of a meaningless statistic in terms of Watson being #2 all time. There is no way he deserves to be compared to these three after barely being above the minimum to qualify.

…..you failed to include Mahomes in that last statement.
