I really want to win this game so we don’t have 5 threads started about going 0-17 and have to discuss that over and over again as off topic tangents in other threads too. I want to nip that in the bud early.
It won’t be any different than going 1-0 and the threads started that think this season is going to surprise a lot of people.

As for what to expect in this game, man, this is one where you just have no clue with either team, so I’ll try to just compare them side by side.

QB, a rookie playing his 1st ever game vs an 11 year journeyman. That could be a wash, maybe a slight egde to Houston, but there's certainly potential to favor J-ville.

RB - the Texans may have some depth there, but Robinson trumps anything the Texans have.

WR - Cooks, Conley, Collins vs Chark, Jones and Shenault, advantage Jags.

TE - Akins, Jordan vs Manhertz, Hollister?, maybe slight advantage Texans, if they remember they're part of the offense.

OL - don't really know who the starting 5 end up being for this game, so with Taylor, Robinson and Norwell, I'll give the nod to the Jags.

DL- Josh Allen is better than anything the Texans have UNLESS Omenihu has the breakout season I'm predicting he has. Still give a slight edge to J-ville.

LB- Myles Jack, K'Lavon Chaisson vs Zach Cunningham, Christian Kirksey, hmmm, edge Texans?

DB- I think easily Jags.

ST- I think Texans easily here, except with Fairbairn out, that could be an issue.

I think the biggest key is that the Texans need to get a pass rush going and rough up Lawrence a little bit. If he has time, because the Texans can't generate pressure, he should be good enough already to be able to pick apart this Texans secondary with the receivers he has. Gotta make the dude uncomfortable and force him into some rookie mistakes.

I know the Texans are going to try to run, run, run. Just don't know if they'll be very good at it. If they're not, I doubt they're able to move the ball through the air like they were able to last year with no run game. Could be very hard to find points.

The defense continuing to force turnovers will be a big help, but they're not going up against 2's and 3's anymore, and the rookie QB should still be better than Ben Dinucci and Blaine Gabbert.

This is one of the few the Texans should be able to win, and still think they can, but my confidence level is about at a 5 out of 10. Pressure and turnovers will be the key.

If only our offense played against their offense & our defense played against their defense. I agree with you top to bottom their roster is better than ours.

However I think our OL will play well against their DL. & our front 7 will play well against their rookie QB.

The only thing I’m really worried about is our team has a tendency to snowball, regardless who the coaches are, or whatever.

I'm predicting a Texans win. The front 7 will have to be clever in the way they attack and not be so obvious of where blitzes will come from. Lawrence is a rookie so disguising looks should work. However, if he has time to make throws, I have no doubt the Texans secondary will get lit up like the Olympic torch.

From what I understand, the Jags have got a pretty good slot receiver - Laviska Shen Ault. ( my spell check won't allow me to spell his name correctly).

With the lose of Roby, if our DL doesn't pressure Lawrence, the two of them may have a field day against our DB's.

This hasn't been a very good blitzing team the last... well, ever.

They didn't blitz much in the preseason. I'll be surprised if Lovie blitzes much... lack of talent & all.

I'm not very big on Tyrod Taylor at this moment. I hope he gives me reason for hope in the game ahead, but I just don't expect much from him. Trevor Lawrence will pick apart the Texans secondary. This won't be the first time that a new QB came into Houston and lit up the Texans' secondary (Mark Sanchez in 2009 and Drew Lock a couple of years ago come to mind). This could be an ugly loss for the Texans, and personally I'm not looking forward to all of the Trevor hype and worship that may come as a result of a lopsided defeat at the hands of the Jags should it happen.

Trevor's a bust. 3 interceptions Sunday. Watch. We win 24 - 13.

Two losses to the Jags will drive them further down the draft and away from players I want. I would like to see good play. I do think that Texans have a 50/50 chance to win this game.

The Jags offensive line is suspect on the outside and will be up against our defensive strength, our front four. We should be able to put pressure on Lawrence.

The Jags don't have a receiving TE; and to establish a running game, are expected to utilize two blocking TE's. This of course means they will be limited to two WR's, which hopefully our DB's will be able to cover.

So, can we stop their running game? I believe we will. But their strength is up the middle with OC Brandon Linder and OG's A.J. Cann and Andrew Norwell.

Defensively, the Jags are transitioning to a 3-4 and this past off season, upgraded their personnel, both up front and on the back end. The results are to be determined, but their front seven will be up against our improved OL. Should be a slug fest and a good test for the Texans.

The Jags improved through free agency both at CB and at Safety. This will be a good test of Taylor's effectiveness.

All things considered, this should be a testy win for the Texans. It should be a low scoring game, but the Texans should take control from the beginning.

It's a must win for the Texans.

I will not get to watch this game today b/c I haven’t figured out a good source to bypass the French server issue and since the building we’re in doesn’t have any type satellite dish on the roof, I can’t even get the AFN Box connected.

I will follow the game via Gamecast. It’ll be like playing with the old Electric Football game of the late 60’s and 70’s as kids……that shite was so funny b/c of the arguments it created on the outcome. As if there was any strategy to watching those plastic figures vibrate around on the field. LOL!!!

I predict Trevor Lawrence will throw for 300 yards & 3TDs. The Texans will not rush for more than 80 yards.

Can't win like that.

Yes, good times. I begged for one of these. I think it came with Cowboys and Saints figures. I messed around with it for awhile, then left it outside to rust. I remember my mother made a planter out of it.

The Texans have elevated TE Antony Auclair from the PS. As he is established as a big body blocker, I expect that this move re-inforces the probability of strong emphasis in moving the ball on the ground Sunday.
I am still trying to figure out how practice squad elevations work… you can elevate two per game but they can’t be the same people multiple weeks in a row? Are you still only allowed to have 46 on your active roster for game day?

I think Lawrence is bust, I think he gives up 2 picks and maybe one of them is returned for a TD. 91 yards on the ground counting a 14 yard scamper by Tyrod into the end zone. Texans 21 jags 16

I'm thinking the Jags spread the field with Marvin Jones, DJ Chark, and Laviska Shenault. Don't think the Texans can cover any of them, much less all 3.
