Well that’s kinda circular.
& it was the Texans who drafted him & I’m arguing it was a mistake.
Yeah, but mocks had him going even higher and ahead of Mond? Who cares if the Texans drafted him (or whoever it would've been), they got him at a perceived value spot at that point. I think people are nitpicking the selection, because it was our first selection.. it's still a 3rd round pick.
QB, became a #1 need on this team. Why not take a 3rd round flier on a guy with 5 star tools? Who's only even available, because we're all living in the twilight zone and living in Covid land. (Much worse for a Pac 12 player.)
When you watch the guy on tape, he has all the raw tools, physical traits, and talent to be a franchise quarterback. Only thing he's lacking is reps..because of a historic pandemic and a injury.
I'll take a 3rd round lottery ticket on that type of midround quarterback every year.. Especially over a QB who had 46 starts and already cemented/proven his top draft potential.. Only 1 pick ahead of the guy with 11 collegiate career starts. That's telling on what scouts think about Mills' ceiling. Due to unprecedented circumstances, Mills isn't your typical "mid round quarterback prospect". If there ever was a year for Houston to do what they did (Especially with all the Watson crap), it was this unprecedented year.
