Sexual Assault Suits Against Watson

This is all well and true. Still doesn’t make him guilty or innocent of what he’s being accused of. Definitely a lack of judgement but the process needs to play out with facts.
And you don't think it won't?

Just because we're throwing out a bunch of opinions on a message board, doesn't mean the process isn't playing out. These cases aren't going to be decided on what is said here. Right or wrong, good or bad, we're just giving opinions that mean nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Best two pieces of advice my dad gave me.

“It’s not enough to want to sleep with a woman you better want to wake up with her to.”

“Son every time you put your **** in a woman you are putting your life in her hands.”

Great advice. I will add it to what I tell my kids:

Don’t put your **** where you don’t want to spend the rest of your life.

And dw is already suffering consequences like endorsements backing out. He will suffer from this even if he's found innocent for the rest of his life.

If that happens, I expect a hard slander case to follow recouping losses.

I don't think he is going to be innocent. Of the cases which is now 13-14 (after some are dropping due to not wanting to reveal names) at least 2-3 are not false. His pattern goes all the way to Clemson. He is a woman liker and he has been even then.

Dropped cases? Can you provide a source?

That's far from accurate because IMU technically the basis for a SA accusation could be something as gentle and harmless as an unwelcome
touch on the accusers thigh. Now of course SA could also be something very physical and even brutal, maybe painful.
But rape and SA are worlds apart from what I read, but just know that when one is dealing with a sleeze-bag like Buzzbutt he will play the language to suit his own narrative.

My point was unlike rape that can be detected SA can leave no evidence. since it’s Difficult to provide physical evidence for a SA it becomes a circus just to get proper attention to the matter and is ridiculed by sleaze-bags like Hardin making this serious crime often untouchable. It’s more difficult in this situation also since DW controlled the environment likely to prevent his actions from being video recorded unless he did so for his own entertainment

“When I told him, he was in disbelief,” Hardin said. “He asked me two or three times, ‘I forced her?’ And then he just started crying. That’s his reaction. And that’s the thing for you all to remember. We don’t cry about things we did.”

That has got to be one of the dumbest statements I have ever heard a lawyer make as a defense. Starting to think either Hardin has lost his touch or this case is like trying to go UP Niagara Falls in a barrel.
Correct. You cry about getting caught and knowing your gig is up. First shot of reality he’s probably ever been exposed to.

That’s what I don’t understand, why some are so insistent that we should all wait to see as if what is decided on this board means anything. It’s like are pre game predictions, no matter how many think we will win or lose it’s not going to change the final score.

You guys are talking about Perry Mason, not Matlock. I know my TV Lawyers. :)

I am talking about Matlock. Google it:

Watson is also a public figure, now that in no way excuses death threats and him being a public figure does not mean his mother is but there are certain risks you accept when you become a public figure. I promise you he was getting death threats when he was just a QB, particularly from Bills fans, and he has the money and systems in place to insure those threats are investigated and protected against.

On the flip side the accusers are not public figures and no under the law filing a lawsuit does not make you a public figure. Likewise who do you think has more people defending them and more people attacking them, Watson or the accusers?

that’s garbage. Death threats are death threats. Just b/c DW4 lives a part of his life out in the public and has resources to bunker himself down like the president doesn’t make his death threats any less serious.

Read my post again, I said it’s inexcusable either way but seriously who do you think is getting harassed more. The beloved star QB of the city that is the darling of the media or the Instagram massage therapist? Hell even on here we had people talking about how basically all massage therapists on Instagram are really just hookers.

Are we sure this will be by jury?
Texas Constitution:

Art 5 - Sec 10
Article 5 - JUDICIAL DEPARTMENTSection 10 - TRIAL BY JURYIn the trial of all causes in the District Courts, the plaintiff or defendant shall, upon application made in open court, have the right of trial by jury; but no jury shall be empaneled in any civil case unless demanded by a party to the case, and a jury fee be paid by the party demanding a jury, for such sum, and with such exceptions as may be prescribed by the Legislature.

I miss the good ole days of speculating how many 1st rounders we could get for Watson.

So the old dilemma comes up again. It's not who the starting QB for the Texans is on opening day, it's how many QBs we'll go through this season. I'll bet the QB starting the last game isn't even a twinkle in the Texans eye yet.

It seems like both lawyers are posers that want to win the case in the media instead of the actual court, but I do get why Buzzbee didn't want the names to get out to the public. There are too many morons/DW4stans that will harass these women online. It was said on one of the radio programs that it would be smart for them to delete all their social media profiles until this is over, but that might be hard to do because if they are legit massage therapists they might depend on their online profiles to make a living.

why the big concern over the court of public opinion? Then why not turn off all social media devices, TV, radio, etc? I think it’s FAR more amusing of an issue to watch the lawyers use all kinds of antics to persuade the “public opinion” of the jurors in a trial who are trying to untwist the facts as presented only to exercise their opinions during deliberation.
I agree, this has been more entertaining than the Texan's last season.

But in most cases there is only one person accusing someone. Here we have 20+, I think that makes a hugh difference.

If the trial is anything like this site it will be a sham.

So if DW settles with all these women and this doesn't go to court, does he go back to being the face of this franchise or that for another team?
If he did no wrong, all of those endorsement deals will return right away too?

The court of public opinion you don't like is more about what is right and wrong, not just what's technically legal or illegal.

How could he settle without looking guilty?

I’m sure the judge will instruct the jury to put the other 21 cases out of their mind. In a court of law they are separate & independent.

I have heard the reason the cases are worded so similarly, is because it allows Buzbee to consolidate them into one case. If that happens, they're all going to come at him like a firing squad at the same time. The outcome could very well depend on if the judge consolidates them.

Did I dispute that?

Buzbee has already petitioned the courts to consolidate the cases..............his requests thus far have been denied.

Thanks for bringing me up to speed, is that final or could it change?

Like most things it depends on what judge he gets. People like to pretend that every judge would rule the same based on the evidence. They don’t, in fact lawyers often try to get judges they think will be more favorable to their case. What one judge denies another may allow.

That said I’m not sure any of the judges are going to allow him to consolidate these. To much of a spot light will be on it. An all or nothing case would favor Buzbee because his weaker cases could be carried by his stronger ones. I’m guessing of the 22 cases Buzbee has maybe 3-5 that he thinks are slam dunks and the rest are more he said, she said which is always hard to win.

And does 22 sway your opinion prior to trial?

It's damn hard not to put some weight behind 22 people making the same statements Vs one who says otherwise.

Watson - It was consensual.

22 women - It wasn't consensual.

The evidence that we have heard so far is overwhelmingly negative for Watson. That includes his text messages to them , their text messages to others , the demanding of NDA's to get paid and ALL of their statements being very similar in describing his wording and actions.
Then there's the text conversation from the one who was supposed to be defending him that said she heard these same things from others in the profession and suddenly ended the relationship ....

Other that saying - I didn't do that. Or - It was consensual ..... what's his response ?

Just everyday Texans snafu operation.

Like that's going to happen TK. Some things you can't un-hear / un-see.

Judges instructions cannot erase peoples memories.
Has a lot to do with what's going on in the media between the two lawyers.
Subliminal messaging, much like advertising.

What’s the deal with the NFL investigation? How does it work, do they act off of the evidence presented by the two sides or can they obtain evidence on their own? Can or would they rule before this situation is final? Seems they wouldn’t. I was hoping DW could have been traded before the draft. IMHO unless there is only overwhelming evidence of his innocence I believe the current attention to SA will make it impossible for the NFL to not make this case a loud statement of zero tolerance. I think a settlement...business as usual...puts them in an impossible bind.

& that's my point. Ben settled. Looking guilty. Put it behind him.
It's a sad testament to the justice system where it relates to sexual assault. Few victims speak of their experiences to anyone. Fewer ever pursue it civilly. Even fewer report it to the police. Only a handful ever see it to court. And only 1% result in conviction.

It's obvious to me, and it should be to anyone, that sexual assault is hardly deterred by the justice system. And that the perpetrators' money and connections commonly allow them to minimize or avoid all together the fate they truly deserve.
