I am hoping for this regardless of who is our quarterback. We years ago went to a Zone blocking system which I was against. These two running backs + crushers on the offensive line would be a pleasure to watch in 2021.
 
Color me unimpressed with this signing. Ingram was completely phase out of last season and to my knowledge, it had nothing to do with an injury. David Johnson was at least phased out in part because of injury, plus he was 3 years younger when the trade occurred. Maybe Culley knows something the rest of the football world doesn't. My gut tells me they just spent $2.3M on a locker room guy.

Ingram is instantly the 2nd best RB on the roster. Now that's sad.

Me and a roommate of mine did this same thing during hurricane Ike, except we used t-light candles. Managed to heat up and eat just about everything in our freezer between the two of us and his son and mine with no power. Worked like a charm..

Those yards came against Cincinnati, a team that gave up 2368 yards on the ground last year and Tennessee, another bad defense against the run.

Just as a comparison, the team that gave up the most yards on the ground last season was the Texans at 2564. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they give up even more yards in 2021, but that would be a different thread.

This 2021 season in the NFL will be Ingram's 11th. They'll squeeze every yard left in him out in 2021 on this one year deal. Ingram symbolizes what I believe to be a total tank job attempt on behalf of the Texans front office, which IMO is fine. It's a season to get right with the cap so they can make some moves in 2022. Like Caserio said, they're just trying to hit some singles and doubles this off season to be competitive. What I believe they must also do at this time, drain NRG of the apathy. Get rid of the players that mailed it in last season. Have they even recognized what was happening inside that locker room and on the practice field, though? Cutting players like Jon Weeks...makes no sense. He was paid in line with his position, never had a bad snap in all the years he was with the Texans. He was not a problem on or off the field.

But we do have an idea if you apply just a little common sense. He got the job done on Sundays. So I seriously doubt he was talking about Weeks.

The last few years we hear all the time about what players are doing in practice, yadda, yadda. Not saying that practice isn’t important, but it has seemed the last few years that it’s more important than what takes place on Sundays with this organization.

If DeAndre Hopkins misses a couple of practices a week and still goes out and gets 1,500 yards, I’ve got zero problem with that. If he misses practices and is dropping balls or running the wrong routes on Sundays, then you have issues.

The ratings for the practice Super Bowl remained at a steady 0.0 in all demographics.

Hopefully he can be solid and hopefully we can use a later pick on a RB to learn from these old fogies.
 
Intentionally or not, the tank is coming.

This season is Bill Cosby and the Texans accepted the free drink. We wont be happy with how it ends.

At best, we get the moral victory that at least they put up a fight.

Looks like in 2021 he should be a better version of 2019 Carlos Hyde.
 
The only thing I have against Ingram is his age. If the Texans use him correctly, and David Johnson stays healthy enough to help carry the load, maybe he'll be a very productive back for them.

Y’all are gonna get enough of trying to quantify a guys skills as a player just by looking at recent stats and PFF “grades”. And doing it WITHOUT taking into account the entire picture of a guys’ situation. I remember alotta people had this same energy when we brought Ty Mathieu in...

All he’s done since he came and left here.......where he played well I might add, is become a 2X 1st team all pro. In 2019, I believe he made all pro at 2 different positions. This year he was a 1st team all pro with a PFF grade MUCH lower than the PFF “grade” that he recieved in the 1 year he played here..

My point was made bro. You don’t know whose gonna be what...especially under a new regime/system.

Rather than @$%# about every single move NC makes b/c he’s not bringing in perennial all pros for pennies on the dollar, why don’t you just acknowledge that short of this team doing that, you’re not gonna like anything they do.

I'm going to judge each move on its own merit. Unlike others, who will give blanket plaudits for each and every transaction the organization makes.

lol, if you have to ask, then you’ve not been paying attention. At the VERY least, not getting bent over on deals is a HUGE difference. Making moves that make some sense....deals that don’t completely screw the team for years both in salary cap and draft capital....you know COMPETENT GM’ing...

you wonder why fans and teams look at this franchise as a laughing stock....before the SI article....before the DW4 crap, it was BoB. Making some of the most lopsided trades in history...it was BoB cussing out fans.....it was BoB blowing a 24 pt leadin the playoffs. Yeah those last 3 happened as the HC, but at this point does it matter? Point is there’s a world of difference between Bob the GM and Caserio the GM...a good difference.

One thing is for sure....... O'Brien cant add any more crazy contracts or trades.

I have yet to see where NC has traded away a level of talent for so little return as OB.

Now if NC trades Watson for a 5th round and an old Starship cassette tape I won't...but for now..... I will give him benefit of the doubt , regardless if I agree or disagree with moves made.

I like that NC has not taken any swings for the fences so to speak in regards to FA's! I like the meat and potatoes approach as far as this season goes. Needs are getting filled with players who should at least be solid contributors. No real risk. I like that they are on prove themselves affordable short contracts and as this team is constructed I think that is the way to go.

What I mean is he could have tied all his cap space to a couple of FA's as opposed to trying to fill some needs with several fairly inexpensive prove your self FA's. I myself like NC's approach to free agency this season. I am not expecting much during the upcoming season but I do think our team will compete and be respectable. With an easier schedule I expect we will finish our upcoming season better than last. Not much better but better just the same. That is even without DW4.

I believe Mark Ingram will be the Texans' starting running back come Week 1, but I can't put anything past Phillip Lindsay. To keep Lindsay off the field (I'm not actually convinced this will happen), Ingram needs to provide a physical, punishing run game for a Texans offense that has myriad question marks heading into training camp. Given Ingram's familiarity with David Culley, who coached Ingram in Baltimore, the veteran has a real opportunity to bounce back from a down 2020 performance and have one of his best seasons as a seasoned back who thrives at the goal line

I’m betting another team will come in and scoop up Phillip Lindsay thus giving Mark Ingram the carries he needs to crush it. A team like the Rams who just lost Cam Akers for the season for example. But it will cost them (Rams) a 5th or 6th rounder. 4th rounder would get it done today. Caserio will continue to build this roster every avenue he can. This would also require clean bill of health from David Johnson.

I don't think it's a good idea to trade a young running back that has shown he can have success in this league for a 5th or 6th round prospect. Not when one of your other running backs is 31 and another will be 30 in December. And your passing game was neutered during the offseason.

From the article you posted:

If you are expecting Johnson to bounce back, toss your computer through the window. At age 30, Johnson is projected to have a similar lackluster season to last year. Lindsay, splitting carries with Johnson and Ingram, is more of a complementary back in this projection. Ingram is typically ineffective until the red zone, where he is expected to get the bulk of his carries. None of the backs are projected to do much in the passing game.

Not much to write home about but taking just one out of the equation could significantly affect the potential production for the others.

This is the plan. Caserio has poured a lot into the group. Unless he offers some cap relief from his $3+ million cap hit and a net gain in talent in return, Lindsay should be here for the 2021 season. A late round prospect doesn't seem worth it.
