Kobe Bryant asked the Lakers for a trade. Olajuwon is beloved in Houston, but many people forget he had battles with management, he was accused of faking an injury and wanted to be traded. It took a long, team flight to China to get him and the Rockets' GM together for them to resolved their differences and it paid off with championships.
IMHO, calling someone a petulant child or whiney little brat is unnecessary. It's an emotional statement made by fans who don't have all of the details and who fall into one or more of these categories:
- Disappointed in the way Watson has handled this issue with the cryptic tweets and silent treatment
- Watson wanting to hire the GM and HC is not his role or responsibility
- Signing a mega deal and asking for a trade six months later
- It's an opportunity to take gratuitous shots at a player you dislike and you want to chum the waters
If anyone falls in category 1, 2, 3 or any combination of the three, a public statement from Cal and Watson detailing how the breakdown in communication occurred will help clarify or repair the situation. Hearing the actual details and the context instead of relying on click bait articles, gossip, speculation and agenda pushers to form our opinions is pointless. For many, with clarity comes understanding or empathy. Time heals all wounds and winning cures all.
If you are in category 3, you will just double down on the criticism, subjective opinions and narratives that you have been repeating for four years. In other words, there is nothing Watson can do that will repair his reputation/image with #3.
