Death to Google Ads! Texans Talk Tip Jar! 🍺😎👍
Thanks for your support!

I quit.

I can’t not cheer for the home team. Yes they suck, yes they have made some stupid moves and yes I tend to lose interest as the season goes but ultimately they are still the home team. There have been a lot of times in various situations that seeing a Texans logo on someone’s shirt or truck or lanyard or whatever has given me something to talk about and break the ice with that person.

So I will keep following and keep finding things to enjoy. If they manage to keep Watson I’ll enjoy watching him, if they trade him for a kings ransom I’ll enjoy watching the rebuild and if they trade him for peanuts I’ll just laugh the same way all you can do is laugh when life kicks you in the balls.

I’m here for the idea of the Texans and the love, mostly, of conversation with people on this board. Ultimately how good or bad the Texans are is secondary to me.

A lot of us are in this for the length of time they're the NFL franchise in Houston. I've been here all my life so it makes no sense to root for anyone other than the (current) Houston team. So for that, I'm in it for as long as they're here. If they pull a frigging Oilers on me then **** 'em and I'll wait for the next team.

If we were guaranteed a new team in the near future, I'd help Cal pack his **** right now..

That is easy to believe, but I truly do not believe that was the case. The Patriot way is to work with those types find a way for everyone to be included & work towards the same goal. Not to get rid of said players, especially not to the detriment of the team.

You can’t underestimate a religious zealot (Easterbaby) even a phony one.

Been out since Hopkins trade. Where is accountability for that, beyond stupid trade, of DeAndre Hopkins I’m sure it extends beyond O’Brian. Major driving force had to be Easterby, who felt morally compelled to expel Hopkins for his moral and Religious beliefs. Until he himself who cast the first stone is gone I’m out on Cal McNair’s franchise.
Never underestimate the religious zealot.

I'm guessing a lot of people on this site were not around for the ADDAMS Family fiasco. Even though things are Hinky right now nothing compares to the Oilers.

Crazy days circa 1993.

When you think about all of the members who no longer post here, we've had several iterations of "I quit", already. Many have just been silent about it.

I get it. I spend less than the outrageous $$$ I once spent on this franchise. That's more of a choice I needed to make than a protest. With unlimited time and money, I'd get a luxury box across from the McNairs and scream at them for 3 hours.

I have never learned my Oilers lesson. I still think that while the owners get the profits from the franchise, the city "owns" the team. I'm an owner of the name Houston. Just like many of you are. Cal's idiocy doesn't get to run me off. I'd prefer to embarrass him than ignore him.

Foolish? Yes. Naive? Duh. Call me Lucky Quixote. Man of La Houston. Now, where is my lance?

guys Rasputin will not be here forever sooner or later he will be fired or quit might take a few days months or 6 years from now but jack will be gone one day LOL

Because Tommy Boy is such a lameass owner, he's got me daydreaming about being a bandwagoner. Except, I would make this a permanent switch because I don't do anything halfway.

1. Gotta be a nice location. Somewhere I'd like to visit to watch the team's home games. For this, I'm thinking New Orleans, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Seattle, San Francisco. Weed laws are also a consideration

2. I gotta like the owner. For example:

I like Jim Irsay because he's a mental health advocate, he plays rock music, and he likes Pink Floyd so much that he paid $5 million for David Gilmour's "Black Strat" guitar. He also likes to party.

I like the Khans because they run AEW. I don't care that it's fake. They have me laughing my ass off 2 nights a week.

The practical choice would be the Saints, but the weather is too much like H-Town's.

My bandwagon fan requirements would be a yearly renewal thing. This year I'm digging the Bucs because I've liked Brady since 2001. Next year, maybe it's the Steelers or Packers or wherever JJ Watt ends up playing.

Cool unis are a plus. The more black the better. Raiders are always a leader in that category, but I could never root for another Carr, especially one that used to troll this forum.

A winning tradition is also extremely attractive, simply because we've never had that in H-town. Having a potential HoF QB is also nice. So Packers and Chiefs come to mind. I'd include the Seahawks, but I'm sensing some potential front office drama, and I've had enough of that lately.

Obviously some teams never make the list. Cowboys first and foremost. I'd rather shave my head with a cheese grater while chewing aluminum foil before I became a Cowboys fan.

"Best Friend"

Yes, I'm sure they were "just friends".

Last straw for me was the Hopkins trade. I still come around every so often just to see what's going on and to see how the winds are blowing. I watched maybe half the games this past year, and not a single game did I see every play. Several I didn't watch at all, and I didn't care that I didn't watch it which shocked me.

This from a person that never missed a single snap in the teams history prior to 2020, to include every pre-season snap. Cal, OB, and especially this idiot Jack MeHoff just took the rabid fan right out of me. For my money, that trio has ruined the team. I'm now at best a casual fan and barely so at that.

Although I don't keep up with the day to day like I did, I still am somewhat aware of what's going on. What's happened since the Hopkins trade has only reinforced my decision to excise this team from my heart and soul and keep it on the trash heap of history where it belongs. Cal has a good heart, but he is beyond clueless. He's the worst owner in football today and one of the worst in the history of pro sports. Yes...he's that bad.

If I've said it once, I've said it 1000 times. What ails this team can't be fixed by a new coach or a new GM. The roots of this tree are rotten. I'm looking at you Cal. You can hang a pretty bouquet of flowers on the branch of a dead tree, and you can apply lipstick to a pig. In both cases, it's a pointless exercise. Until Cal is gone and/or sells this team to competent ownership, this team is a total dead end and complete waste of time.

Save your heart, your emotions, your energy, your time, and your finite resources on something else guys. You're wasting valuable time on this douchebaggery.

But hey, you do you and all of that. Good luck to the sinking ship crew that remains. I'll be back here and there and that's about it. Peace.

I don't know how many times this year while I was watching a Texans game a commerical would come on and I would flip over to the Red Zone channel and then about 20mins later I would rememeber that the Texans game was going on. Mentally I had checked out and hadn't even noticed it.....

Same exact thing here.

The team and league have made it really hard to care about the team and league in recent years especially.

I was like that this yr.

What's the TB humidity like? I've stayed at Delray Beach before and the humidity was just like Houston.

I live on the beach and in the summer the humidity can be high but it's not Houston or the Atlantic side of south Florida. It's also always breezy and not as hot here either. All around, this is the best area that I've ever lived for weather. I've lived in Houston, Austin, Dallas, Orlando, Albany NY, and the Philadelphia area. The Houston area (La Porte) is the worst place that I have ever lived for heat and humidity (and air pollution on top of that).

I lived in the Palo Alto for awhile. Perfect weather. Never too hot or too cold.

Still prefer living in SE Texas. #Texan4Life

Hey! As a proud alumnus of La Porte High School, I resemble that remark.

I miss seeing you around these parts, old timer. But, I certainly understand your perspective.

This franchise has a way of making it tough to love 'em, and this from a guy that wears a hard hat/jersey to every game that I've attended.

Honestly, the only things keeping me interested in this franchise is this forum and my general 'love' of pro football, so there's that default setting of paying attention to local sports.

But, there is absolutely no confidence in this owner at this point. He's basically confirmed everything that I concluded about him years ago. He's an NFL Tommy Boy, no doubt about it.

Never let facts stand in the way of a good story.

Yeah, sad that the "professional" media lives by the same mantra these days. I've just started to tune it all out from the media, regardless of the subject, because I simply don't care about their agenda-driven opinions over actual facts. At least here we know we are reading opinions from fans that actually care about the franchise.

What year? My grandmother was class of '39, my mom class of '63, my sister class of '81, I would have been class of '87 however my family got relocated to New York when I was going into 8th grade. I went to LPE and Baker JH.

Class of '83. So, you were around when we were running the wishbone and playing district games against Galveston Ball, La Marque, Deer Park, Clear Lake and Texas City. So, you would understand why I get physically ill watching the Texans in the shotgun at the goal line and in short down and distances. LOL.

Porky, thank you for writing this out. These are my sentiments exactly. I made a post after the 2019 offseason that said this about management and the coaching.

The title/subject of the post was "Stop blaming O'Brien and start blaming the ownership and management"

Or better yet, start blaming them both (with more of the blame going to management/ownership). O'Brien is who he is. It's well documented. We know he isn't going anywhere and he is just being himself. He only has the power in the organization because of the ownership and management allows him to. The real problem is that as fans, we never hold the organization accountable. Bob and Janice and now Cal are the people who can change our head coach and GM, not O'Brien.

I know this is a bit of an oversimplification, but the ownership (or the management that the owners put in place) has made all the decisions that have kept us in mediocrity. Say what you will about Kubiak, but he with Peyton Manning won a SB. Do you think that if we took a chance on Manning (reports said he wanted to come here) we wouldn't have made it further than we did? I know someone is going to tell me that Kubiak didn't want Manning. Well, competent ownership/management would have brought in Manning and told Kubes to make it work or hit the bricks. The ownership and management should have more vision for the organization than the HC.

Upset that we let Lil' Shanny or Vrabel go? This too is a management/ownership problem. Mad that Brian Gaine didn't lock up Clowney or didn't move up for Dillard? This too is on management/ownership.

TL;DR - Blame O'Brien all you want, he has made countless mistakes. He's not held accountable by the power structure above him. Based on what I have seen out of this organization, we could reincarnate Bill Walsh and we would still suck because our membership/ownership group is inept and will always turn sugar into s***.

Still true. I have watched a snap or two last season, but most of the time, not only did I not miss it, I completely forgot they were even on. Have fun watching failure at a premium price.

Yes, I remember going to all of those games. When I was a kid it was a blast driving to road games in a caravan of cars with orange and white streamers. We would meet at the stadium parking lot and all head over. That's one thing I missed after moving up north. No Friday night football or the hype for the games.

My x-brother in law played nose guard for the Dogs during the Bubba Hill, Ricky Byars, Byron Walker years. He was their top defensive lineman. His name was Kirk Roberts, maybe you remember him. He was my sister's boyfriend at the time so I got all of the scoop of what was happening on the field after the games. I have a lot of stories. One I remember is Ball High offensive lineman were hiding razor blades in their arm tape. He got a pretty nasty cut playing against them. They were the dirtiest team to play against according to him. That game in 1981 where we were up 21-0 at halftime vs Baytown Lee in the Dome and they came back and won 28-21 was fixed. I don't remember all of the details but somehow that got exposed. I do remember the refs kept calling back all of Bubba Hill's big runs with holding calls in the second half. Apparently there was some payoff. I hated Baytown Lee even more after that.

Speaking of Deer Park, my mom had the bright idea to move me to Deer Park for 3 semesters in my 7th grade year. The kids all sucked and the teachers were no better. I really hated that place. I remember my English teacher constantly giving me a hard time because I was a La Porte kid. Her husband was a LP football coach and maybe she was having marital problems or something, but that woman was always finding any excuse to give me swats. Fortunately I got out of their and went back to Baker the last semester which saved that school year for me. :)

I’m still in it to win it. Well, I let my season tickets go, & my PSL. BUT I live to watch the games on Sunday. Haven’t missed one from the comfort of my living room.

Now, I’m on pins & needles waiting for DW4’s next tweet & can’t wait for them to announce Bieniemy as our next HC.

Watson's next mystery insider release........Watson has listed his favorite 2 destinations.

1. New York Jets: Went to the top of the list when they hired Robert Saleh as the new HC. Deshaun Watson's favorite color is Gotham Green.....he almost slipped and said, Green.

2. Miami Dolphins: I have a hard time thinking he would take the NYJ's over the Dolphins since they are the better team with more draft assets to appease the Texans demands while retaining enough draft capital and cap space to continue building a "real" team around Watson.

I'm very happy to hear from the super "secretive inside sources" that Watson is trying to figure out when he can meet with Caserio and discuss when the winning starts again.

I don't blame you. This franchise is a circus run by clowns.

At this point, it's beyond being a fan. Fan is short for fanatic. How anyone could possibly be fanatical for this garbage is beyond my comprehension.

So then it really comes down to the simple concept of customer and product. If a restaurant put out meals that were the equivalent of how this organization is run, they'd be shut down by the healthy department ("slime in the ice machine!" lol) and lack of customers.

I love pro football. So I'll keep watching the good teams and the good games.

However, trying act like I care about something that I'm really apathetic about and partially despise is not my M.O. Crappy franchises are simply not entertaining.

All you have to do is read Andre Johnson's words. He has not tweeted anything beyond product endorsements in two freakin' years, and then he drops this truth bomb:

"The Texans organization is known for wasting players careers. Since Jack Easterby has walk into the building nothing good has happened in/for the organization and for some reason someone can’t seem to see what’s going on. Pathetic!!!" ~ Andre Johnson

I stick around for the forum, but honestly, this franchise doesn't deserve fans like y'all. It just doesn't. It's a default situation - I get it, hometown team and all that jazz - but they simply have not earned the loyalty and respect afforded to them by so many regular people.

Another epic post that hits home more then I ever could. I'm still a football fan. I'm still a fan (most of the time) of this site. Some damn good posters and history here for me. I do enjoy the back and forth and this site is honestly the best resource for information related to the Texans. I'm here now more so for subject matter not related to the texans. And the posters. And maybe I'm a creature of habit.

It took this team 20 years to break me. I was a die hard before I got here. I was a die hard before this team had a name. This management has no vested interest in winning. They exist purely for profit. I may still watch but I no longer claim them as my team. It would be embarrassing to do so. As much as I hate the cowboys, I'll give Jerry credit. He wants to win.

I value this team now like I do the comedy channel. Just when you think it can't get worse we pioneer some new version of stupid and im to apathetic to care anymore. I stand by my opening post. F this toilet bowl collection of idiots who dont deserve our attention or loyalty. I'll watch, but I won't root for an outcome.

I've been saying much of this since 2010

Finally the majority are starting to believe.

Seriously. There have been some bright spots, but overall it's been a pretty dismal failure from year one. Not sure all of that falls on the ownership, but the current shithouse does.

And how much time and money over those years have you devoted?
