Deshaun Watson... are we giving him a pass?

No.

But if you told him he would have input and didn't get that input .... that's lying.
If he asked DW4 hey man who do you want as the new HC and Cal said I'll look at him, but 1st I'm going to hire a GM and he'll have input too. Then Cal goes out and tells Caserio he wants to hire him as GM and Caserio says alright I'll join on but I not only want a 6 yr deal at 5 mil per yr but I want total control over hiring the new HC and all personnel decisions or I dont want the job.

What's Cal supposed to do if he really wants Caserio? Is this lying to DW4? I think there's a new sheriff in town that has more power than either DW4 or Easterby and DW4 didn't like that very much. So he's sending out trade vibes.

If this is the case they might as well trade him now and with the draft picks they would get this yr plus atleast a high draft pick or 2 next yr (2022 draft) and the fact that they will suck next yr they should have a top 3 type pick (Their pick) in the 2022 draft they could rebuild this team like the Walker trade.

It's actually a smart way to rebuild the team the right way. (Like they've never been built before) Do I think Cal will be on board? Not a chance, gotta keep cashin those checks.

I’m thinking Cal was thinking of soliciting his input more for the HC, not the GM. The whole “unhappy” thing being reported was just a “hey, don’t forget my input” type of thing

i would have to think about trade with miami get back our 2'1s and 2nd rounder and FItz & TUa

it took us what 15 years to find a decent qb...Unless u thought schaub was decent and now we might lose him

Watson may believe what I believe and that is Jack Easterby is running the show. He is the reason Caserio is here and not somebody else. It makes no difference to me, but it might to Watson. Deshaun is much closer to the organization, obviously, than any of us and if he believes it's a **** show, who am I to say he's wrong. Since Easterby came along the Texans organization has made some very questionable decisions - from firing Gaine as GM, to naming O'Brien GM, to trading Hopkins for less than fair market value (according to historical data) to what we have now. A sham of a GM search ending in, by all appearances, the hiring of a friend of Easterby.

It all smells fishy. If it comes down between a war between Watson and Easterby, and the McNair's choose to keep Easterby and trade Watson, what are we then to think of this organization? Business as usual for an effectively run NFL franchise? Or a colossal failure by an organization being run into the ground by a TV evangelist and former insurance salesman?

For the record, I'm still good with Caserio as GM. I am just very suspicious of how he got here and I don't blame Watson at all for being upset, I mean if he even is upset. I guess we'll find out soon enough.
From the sounds of things my remark about his tweet was spot on. I don't think he should be posting things like he did online. If you are upset or mad, be upset or mad. However, be adult and say it in private. Don't air dirty laundry like a child. He is supposed to be a leader of a team. His message is looking like he could careless about the team. If he gets his way he is fine however. Seeing according to this article he is upset and perhaps leaving because HE didn't have the people that he wanted for GM either looked at or interviewed. And he said he didn't know about the hire until he saw it on social media.

Well, just saw this and if true... I'm ok with it. Seeing I don't want the team leader to act like he has. And if true I can see it being a problem for the next HC as well as the GM and FO. We don't need a locker room cancer.

This is why you never have an active player involved in the hiring process. They get an over valued sense of their importance.

This is a business, business always comes 1st for the McNair and in this case I happen to agree with Cal. (Not specifically talking about the Caserio hire.)
Just like they shouldn’t have given Bill O’Brien all the power hats he had. This organization continues to do things ash backwards.

It would be hilarious if these guys managed to lose Watson through all of this. This team is way more entertaining for their idiocy then their on-field product anyway.
The depressing thing for Texans fans is the fact that even if they received a King's Ransom for Watson, they'd end up squandering it anyway. The Texans could get three 1st rounders and give 2 of them to Detroit for Adrian Peterson.

That's not outlandish given their past.

Not with the GM we have now. That's almost good enough to get to a AFC championship game next year. I really think he is that good of a personal guy. Maybe wrong but let us hope I'm right.

I hope you are right though the "Patriots South" experiment didn't quite work out the last time. But as they say, if at first you don't succeed....

Immature unless he gets his way. In all honesty I don't care if we hand him to the Jags. You don't need a player who is out for 1 thing... himself. And he is the leader of the team. Even if JJ stays Watson is even with him on setting the example.

He said he wants to be his own person. That's why he was interested last year to come here. But NE nailed us so enter Gase. He was fired for whatever reason. Enter Easterby and OB. OB was hampering Easterby plan, so he talked Cal into letting Hopkins be traded. Then blamed OB who was having issues with the power struggle and lost the GM/HC jobs due to it. I mean not sure if we will ever be told what happened. However, seems like it was pretty close to what I said.

Are you getting all of this from his one tweet?
No I am getting it for what he has said. People are talking about wanting to be traded because he was not told before everyone about the GM. That they didn't talk to him about his list of GM candidates. And other posts he has made. Plus his disregard for the team to go to a party. Not strong leadship skill, great child skill.

Has there ever been a QB that was consulted for a GM hiring? Honest question, I can't recall any previous examples.

Why would Cal even consider it? I mean, a HC is one thing, but GM?

I don't get it personally.

But if there was a conversation, and if McNair stupidly gave some assurance to Watson that he would be involved, McNair should have honored it

Yeah , not like he'd be working closely with a GM like he would a coach ....

If my employer lies to my face I absolutely have the right to call them on their BS; especially if financially you’re in Watson’s situation.

I said it in the most disappointing thread; this organization is the problem. McNair’s are puppeteers of ineptitude.

My baseless thought:
This hiring and the timing almost feels like it was done last year when they got caught w their hands in the cookie jar. Yet they bungle it this year by not even interviewing a handful of candidates?

Yep, he didn't get his way so he wants to be traded.

To think Cal's going to be on the hook for 160 mil for this guy. LMAO

True except for signing a contract. But you still don't throw the team/FO under the bus. Just plain bad example and behavior. That's not a good leader of a team. Still he should have just said"Welcome to the team" and nobody would have been any wiser to his thoughts. As the team leader you should not be setting the example of a guy with a single mind that isn't a team player. Which is exactly what my daughter said to me. She said it when I saw her after school today. And I have not said anything about it to her. She heard it at school and said he is a baby pouting. From a 16yr old that shows you what his words can make kids think or say

BTW, how many labor squabbles has the NFLPA won?

Holding out under the new CBA can get quite expensive even for millionaires.

This is all just wild speculation. Even if it’s true, you really think that one tweet was enough to take him from being classy to being childish and immature and unable to lead a team?

I’d be pissed too if I was told I would be in on the hiring process and then had the rug pulled from under me. That’s a pretty massive blow to the trust in a relationship.

would yall trade watson to the jags for

we would get trevor plus 3 other players to fill badly needed holes in this team offensive and defense ???

To you capologists, what if Caserio negotiated with Watson to move some of his back end money on to next year's cap since it's basically a rebuild year?

Is something like that realistic?

IF the rumors are true and this is him pouting about Caserio then yeah I’d make that trade not because I think Lawrence is a better QB but because I don’t think Watson is a true leader. Outside of that no I’ll stick with the proven commodity

Next year they are already 18 million in the hole WITHOUT Watson.

If you trade DW4 and get a bunch of draft picks, you're punting on the 2021 season because you're going to be 40 mil over the cap.

But in 2022 you will have a high pick of your own and a bunch of picks from the DW4 trade. Plus a bunch of cap space.

They aren't going to be contenders in 2021 anyways so set yourself up for a full rebuild in 2022 and dump a disgruntled player.
