Texans GM Interviews...

A Dorsey protégé. Actually Eliot Wolf and Alonzo Highsmith worked for Dorsey in GB and Cleveland. I think the Texans biggest job, land Dorsey......Wolf and Highsmith probably come along with him, unless they're given a GM opportunity by another team.
I think Eliot Wolf is auditioning to be the the next man up to be in charge of the New England Patriots after Belichick retires.

Ozzie is exactly the type of Head Honcho I want for this organization. A Texan miracle if Cal pulls this off.
I do believe that Cal could be convinced to move his office to the other side of the building (metaphor). Something Ozzie I'm sure would insist on. I imagine Ozzie would demand ironclad Jimmy Johnson type contract that Johnson had with Jerry Jones. That said, I agree with @steelbtexan this ain't going to happen.

Watching the Browns-Steelers game has me wanting Dorsey at GM for the Texans even more. The Dawg Pound has a squad! Their entire secondary is out with Covid and they’re still slapping the Steelers around like it ain’t nothing.

More than half of the first quarter left when you posted... a bit early, no?

For sure that plays a role. There is no denying Dorsey's ability as a scout/talent evaluator. The problem seems to be his personality and cap management. I would love him in an advisory role. Not full-blown GM.

Dorsey got away from trying to manage the cap and went with a young wiz-kid (Sosna) from the Ivy League to handle the cap when he got to Cleveland.

Whats his personality like?

Spending Cap $$$$ and adding talent is what finally got the Browns to the playoffs. Plus I dont think they're in Texans like bad cap shape.

I obviously don't know him, but from what I read, he is similar to OB in regards to being difficult to get along with. He plays "favorites" with his guys and oversteps his bounds with playing time requests.

He dishes out contracts to players who are unworthy while hard balling guys who are good. A simple google search will bring up articles outlining his career and his ups and downs.

He is the best evaluator available, but being GM is more than that.

Houston Texans (HC and GM): When Bill O'Brien was fired, the focus immediately shifted to Eric Bieniemy, and he is expected to be interviewed. They've already interviewed former Lions coach Jim Caldwell and Marvin Lewis. Other coaches to watch include Panthers OC Joe Brady, Ohio State's Ryan Day, Colts DC Matt Eberflus, Patriots ILBs coach Jerod Mayo, Patriots OC Josh McDaniels and Tennessee's Arthur Smith.

GM
But the Texans' plan is to hire the GM first. They've interviewed their director of player personnel, Matt Bazirgan and ESPN analyst Louis Riddick and are expected to interview at least a handful more, including Seahawks executive Alonzo Highsmith. Other names of interest include: Bills director of pro personnel Malik Boyd, Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio, Ravens director of football research Scott Cohen, Indy's Ed Dodds, Seahawks VP of player personnel Trent Kirchner and Dallas' Will McClay.

With so many of these guys in the playoffs, I wonder how patient we will be.

This appears to be the most diverse and thorough search that the Texans have made each position, much less together. If it is the best chance for getting it right then not finishing the process until March is fine with me.

Chances of getting it right, please, since when did ownership get anything right? Wait until March only decreases the talent pool. They better have a damn good idea right now who the right fit is and be prepared to fight for him.

It’ll be alright. All the interviews around the league don’t mean much. It’s up to each guy what offer they want to accept. If any one GM or HC wants to come to Houston, they’ll turn down whatever other offers they get and sign with Houston. With that said, I too hope the organization has made up their mind about what guy they’ll be making a push for.

Most NFL GM and HC searches go wrong by year 5 at the latest. The process is the process and I can hurry up and wait, that's all.

I want Cal to keep an open mind, but even if his mind is made up I hope he interviews as many candidates as possible, so he can learn as many different perspectives of what a successful org looks like as possible.

Texans have requested to interview the following for GM so far

Scott Cohen, Baltimore
Trent Kirchner, Seattle
Malik Boyd, Buffalo
Not a bad list. Trent is probably my least favorite of the bunch, but wouldn’t be upset if he got the job. I’m going to read up on him right now. Maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised. Not like I have anything better to do before going to bed, lol.

I don't like Trent or Scott, TBH. I am really high on Malik Boyd.

My top 5 in no particular order would be:
Ed Dobbs
Mike Borgonzi
Malik Boyd
Omar Kahn
Adam Peters

Curious as to what positions each would hold if all 3 come here?

Right. There's too many job openings to be waiting around until March. The Texans have known they've needed a new GM and HC for 4 months now. They've had that long to put a plan together. If it takes them until March then they're as incompetent as we think they are.

So far just a list of names. We haven’t had any more actual interviews yet than we’ve had in the past.

I'm confused, do we want them to take their time and carefully consider all candidates and not do like they have in the past where their mind is made up and the interviews are just to meet league requirements? Or do we want them to have a clear front runner in mind and aggressively go after him so that then we can start getting ready for the next season and start turning it around? Because from what I'm reading around here people want the Texans to not only make the perfect choice but to know who the perfect choice is before they have even started searching. Don't ask for much do we.

Can we put the crazy conspiracy crap about Watson demanding a minority coach to bed now????
Texans star Deshaun Watson is on record as being supportive of the idea of hiring Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy. But on Monday the quarterback issued positive comments on Eberflus as well. Said Watson:

"From what I have heard and played against, Matt has been, he's been very very disciplined. That's the type that you want. From the players and the scheme I've been playing against Indianapolis they are about what they do and they do it perfectly and they understand different concepts and what they want to do as an Indianapolis Colts defense. That's why they've been so successful. From what I've heard too about him he's been, you know, he's a great guy to play for.”

I feel the Texans made that decision last year who they really want...Nick Caserio. Even after embarrassing themselves. Hopefully they Keep interviewing to make sure. I wouldn’t mind having Nick as the GM though. just get rid of jack.
You’re out of your mind if you think Reverend Jack Osteen is going anywhere if Nick Caserio becomes the Texans’ GM. You’re forgetting that Caserio was O’Brien and Easterby’s handpicked guy. The “Patriot way” has not and will not work without the GOAT TB12.
